Was on the 9-day March cruise to Cayman, Aruba and Curacao. I completely agree with the review. Fantastic ship, crew and cruise. In general this ship is for the older generation (like me). Very few children (I love them but not when your trying to relax commotion free). I like this size ship. It's not so massive that it takes 10-15minutes to get from one end to the other.
I heard 2 complaints during the cruise. 1. Because of the up coming dry dock, there was some work (banging and grinding) being done during the day at certain parts of the ship that got a little noisy. 2. (My complaint, not a ship problem) The ship sponsored Aruba excursion was on a 30yr "Party" School bus that needed it's shocks and suspension replaced 20yrs ago. I needed a chiropractor when it was over. I swear a few bumps nearly ruptured my spleen.
    9/10

My wife and I sailed on Equinox in October 2023 our first with Celebrity and we enjoyed it.
Our only complaint is our Aqua Class Cabin was dated, not enough outlets and the balcony had alot of rust and was dirty. Our cabin bathroom could of used a deeper cleaning but the staff we felt had too many cabins and were doing the best they could.
The crew including our room Stewart was outstanding and we would agree with the rest of your assessment as well of the ship as a whole.
Equinox and Celebrity convinced us to go on a second cruise with them in March 2026 on there new edge class ship Ascent for 11 nights to the Panama Canal and Southern Caribbean.
We are going to try a Aqua Class Sky Suite for the first time and are exited for this trip on Celebrity!
    Thank you for your review.

My introduction to Celebrity was early last year in the Solstice and I could say the same exact thing about that ship. They remain fantastic ships in their own right.

We had sailed the Equinox 10 years ago and I had forgotten how much we enjoyed the ship then!

Subscriber #376 checking in. I 100% agree with your review of the Celebrity Equinox ships in general. I was just on the Celebrity Ascent a few months back and my review would have been identical. I liked the buffett and main dining room a lot. My only negative regarding that class of ship is they have more movement in rough seas. However, it’s nothing a bonine can’t solve.

Got any plans to sail on the Sun again?

@@rexdillinger I’m taking a break from cruising until 2025. I was very excited about the Sun Princess, but it was disappointing. They ruined the buffet, the location and food choices at the International Cafe were not great and the rotunda in my opinion no longer felt high end. Overall, it was a nice ship with some nice features, but I need them to work out some kinks. I will be interested in seeing your 2nd voyage experience.

We spent 19 days on the equinox in June/July after the dry dock
We had a great time and overall the ship was in fantastic shape
Really what made it for us was the crew
They were top notch and could not do enough for us
    Would sail on her anytime

Not a fan of the Equinox. Felt ancient and got food poisoning from the tartar sauce in the pub.

How do you know the dish? How do you know it wasn’t from shore food, or a gastro bug?

A 15 year old ship is middle aged. Don't know why anyone would even consider a 15 year old ship too old. Ships should sail for 30 plus years.

Everyone is obsessed with bigger, newer, etc. sign of the times I guess.

@@rexdillinger It's been that way since 2000s. The industry markets bigger and newer. I think it is bizarre that people call the Solstice a "mid-size" ship and the Millennium class "smaller" or even "small" when they're all large ships.
For me, new is just new. Some new ships are nice, some not so much. I don't even like the Edge ships much and thought Celebrity's absolute best ships, for how I use ships and for content vs. size, were the Century class ships of 1995-1997.

@@rexdillinger I'll say what I don't like about the Edge class ships.
      1. the suite area takes away the forward facing observation lounge. That's an area I find crucial to ships sand the aft Edan has a different feel. I also think the Club feels like a nightclub and the same activities done there feel confined.
      2. The decor doesn't say Celebrity and could be any modern ship except for maybe Normandie restaurant. The staterooms are too gray/taupe for me. That's a trend that I've noticed on most new class of ships.
      3. The specialty restaurants are located in the Grand Plaza and the Martini Bar gets noisy and the noise goes into them.
      4. There's no special, elegant lounge for people that like to dance to Salsa music or the standards or do more couple's oriented dancing vs. the group activities on the ship. Martini Bar feels like a space in the lobby vs. a small club on the Solstice.
In general, I feel that for such a large ship, it lacks too many social areas. That's what I don't like about them. Library, basketball court, card room, quiet spaces, Ensemble lounge or Rendezvous lounge, all deleted from this class.
So, folks like me prefer the Solstice class and if it shows wear, so be it. The Edge ships will as well one day and won't always be the newest class. They can provide a good experience but I feel they're overrated and have shortcoming that are overlooked due to the newness of them. Just my personal opinion on them.
