Reebok needs a cushion system so we can actually play in the shoes , I have a few different models and man they hurt
I get the third party company that made Hexalite originally in the 90s, went out of business but there's gotta be a way in 2024 where we can have real Hexalite brought back. Hell Z-Labs makes an insole that is basically real Hexalite
I got myself the recent DMX Answer and its one of the most comfortable shoes I own! You can feel the air bubbles as you walk. I know its not the original DMX system which mustve been even better but its still mad comfortable. They can if they want
People need to wake up and realize that Reebok (unfortunately) isn't actually making these sneakers for actual athletic people who intend to use them for actual athletic purposes, but are actually making them primarily for sneakerhead collectors whose only usage for them is to either put them up on a shelf to collect dust, or to walk on streets at most.
It's truly a sad state of affairs that this is what it's come down to for old-school-style sneakers, but it's just the reality of things now. Repackaging a smoke-and-mirrors facsimile of your nostalgia back to you in the name of capitalism and vanity.
The original Hexalite was good enough. I'm a flat footed and always struggled to find a shoe that didn't cause me pain or discomfort some where in the foot, especially on the heel or the arc. One of the very top 3 shoes of my whole life (I'm 43) were the Reebok Tempo Hexride, a model around 2010 that were light, breathable, durable as very few that i tried. And played exclusively on concrete. Top notch cushioning and grip. But since then the efforts from Reebok to stay relevant in the basketball market vanished completely.

You guys need to set up an interview with Shaq and AI since the are President and VP of Reebok basketball now. Give them feedback from us real shoe people. We need real hexalite and better materials, especially when it comes to insoles. I really think they'll listen to you.
I interviewed Reebok’s CEO a couple of years ago and asked him about Reebok’s low quality-namely lackluster Hexalite. He told me that he and the company were aware of this area of opportunity, and the reality was that some things could no longer be made the same way they were back in the day. He and Authentic Brands Group’s President also shared that they would set out to find all new manufacturing partners happy to work with Reebok after the brand spent so much time in the shadows of adidas (Reebok’s previous owner).
In most cases, I’d argue these brands are well aware of their shortcomings, but maybe don’t have factories in place or need to find ways to increase prices without risking consumers no longer buying product.
They probably don't prioritise it. Also, the exact plastics or manufacturing process might not be available anymore. Nothing you couldn't replicate, but it would take a fair bit of investment
I heard Reebok had a problem with the original supplier of Hexalite ( a company named Supracor) and then decided to cancel their contract or whatever and make their own fake Hexalite... Hope the real Hexalite will be back again, because the shoes look so cheap now..

As for your QOTD, my ego wld say HELL YEAH! But my tennis skill set goes NAH BRUH! Brian Scalabrine has a challenge where he took guys to school & crushed their egos. PROS get paid for a reason. And if you are THE BEST, u truly are that. Serena is amazing & her body of work shows that the average person won’t even return her serve.

I owned the black Dee Brown model released a few years ago and one of my Pump systems didn't work at all and one worked partially. Do you happen to know if Reebok relies on Nike to create this system or manufacture it themselves? Thanks in advance from Cleveland! You and Jodi keep up the GREAT work and content! Why is anyone talking about defeating Serena or playing her in tennis. How many people even play tennis anymore? And then of those people how many are not old and really good at it and could compete in a real match with someone who has a good knowledge of the game and has played all sorts of different players. And how many of those could return the serve of any professional women’s player. And how many of those could return Serena’s serve. The number would be so small that those people would already be competitive tennis players. Boxing is different because you really just need a good brain stem to take punches and luck to last a round with a heavy hitter but tennis is pure athletic ability and co-ordination and most everyone doesn’t have it at that level for that specific activity

When I was a kid, there was a summer tennis camp program called NJTL (National Junior Tennis League--it still exists, now as part of the USTA Foundation). The tuition for the summer was $3 and a can of tennis balls, and at the end of the summer we got to go to the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, one of the US Open tune-ups in Washington DC, which still exists under a different name. My mom decided that for about $6 each, my sister and I would learn to play tennis. It was a really exciting time in American men's tennis and Agassi, Courier, Chang, and Sampras were my heroes. I stuck with it until junior high, when it became easier for me to get around the city and playground basketball was a bigger part of my summer.
The nostalgia factor on these shoes is about 1 million for me. It's a shame Reebok did the retros lazily; otherwise these would be a must. Thanks as always for the video and I'm happy to do my part to fight this ma hunchy algorithm one more time.

I had the og of this when i was a kid but don’t remember if it had the fuzzy tennis ball pump but my retro version back in 2010ish? Did have the fuzzy ball. Looks like this doesn’t 😢 I loved that feature.
Used to own another Michael Chang shoes back in the day and they were beast, loved the hexalite. Too bad they never bring it back anymore.

I play casual Tennis since high school. Yes I “Might” score 1 point on SW if she is blindfolded and is using her non dominant hand and also have her ears plugged.
I really wanted a pair of these after I copped a pair of the Shaq victory pumps collaboration. I wish Reebok would go back to their roots and put more effort into their products. It would be nice to see Reebok compete a little more with Nike and Adidas.
Silver lining, those Court Victorys will go straight to TJX at discount. Ironically, my bros and I shared a clearance pair in our teens.

If Shaq is still involved with Reebok, try getting in touch with him personally. You know he's all about quality at a decent price, and helping people that don't have a lot of resources. He may have enough pull in the company to get these changes made.
It's not involved, he's the President of the Basketball division. I saw him in an interview yt video on Complex channel, he said they want to give to the athletes the best shoes possible with the best technologies, we'll see if he's going to deliver or not

The shaq x chang hybrid was incredible quality . Got my pocket torn out bought them on realease $180 ... 3 months later on clearance $79 bucks !! I was pissed never agian. For issues like this they will not use high end material there anticipating the Brick at this point very sad ..

I love Reebok Pumps, but I too have experienced inconsistent craftsmanship in their recent lineup.
I too love Reebok and wish they'd do better. Wearing a pair of Classic BB4600s right now. The BB4600 fell way off with the Hi 2 a couple years ago. They devolved from an all-time classic, hard bottom, foam midsole basketball shoe to a flimsy bottom, rubber lattice, low budget, throw away.

Serena is a great athlete and one of my absolute favorite players on the WTA. To answer your question. Yes. I absolutely think that I could win at least one point against her in a match. I have a big serve and I can hit the line with my serve. So yes, one point is certainly within the realm of reasonable.

Against Serena Williams, she would kick my ass in tennis. No ifs ands or buts about it. And what a bummer that the shoe wasn’t made with the same care and love as the Omni zone 2 from a few years ago.
I bought this pair and the blue with the pump logo on the side for 25% off. For some reason the blue pair is a lot more comfortable. The midsole is softer, and the outsole is flatter. Which is a shame, because I prefer the green. Oh well, still gonna rock both this summer.
Nice to read that I'm not the only one: same feeling, the blue one seems to be more confortable and softer. Strange. About the colorway, the green is cool, but if I'm right, that's the first time we have a retro of the blue OG colorway. And this blue colorway was the colorway worn by Chang. Don't know why the green one was called "Chang" in previous years, because never found an archives with the green colorway worn by Chang... Always the blue (and the yellow/black in the ad with the Nike ATC3 Volt)
A male tennis player on a semi-professional level could definitely score points against SW. Lower-ranked professional tennis players would most likely beat her on the court. There is a huge difference between men and women's sports. Serena herself admitted this.

If you break down the Serena question it’s not actually as ridiculous as it sounds.
Caveats would include the would-be challenger being a minimum half-decent club player and the second this being a best of 3 set (i.e. 2 sets) match.
I would say there’s more than a fair chance of winning 1 single point.
If Serena were to win 6-0 6-0 without losing a point, she would need to win 48 straight points.
With alternating service games, that gives you a minimum of 12 serves, per set. The goal to win just one point - you can then also try smashing your second serve as well.
This gives you a potential 24 serves, per set. 48 in the match.
Chances are, if you are able to serve with a half decent technique (which I’d expect of a half-decent club player) you should, in 24-48 attempts, be able hit a serve that forces an error or defensive response that leads to an opportunity to win that point.
So - I’d say that’s more than possible.
Its amazing that in 2024 with all the Power PC's and software we can't replicate a quality shoe from 1993!!! A shoe that was designed and manufactured without sw or PC!! Amazing.
Does the pump mechanism have the furry tennis ball feel? And yes i could score a pt on Serena only if she committed the requisite amount of double faults to earn me that said point lol

The funny fact with Reebok retro is that a Reebok sole with fake Hexalite is more confortable than a Nike sole with real air bubble. Seems that the sole comfort is not in the visual technology... 😅
Michael Chang was definitely one of my heros as a kid. I've always wanted these shoes, but never got them. When they released I took a look at them and just hated how bad they were. Even nostalgia wasn't enough for me to get a pair. Maybe it was just QA, but look a 3 different pairs, the shape of the shoes didn't match. Also it's one thing to cheap out on the materials, but no Hexalyte and the Pump bladder is only in the tongue is just plain terrible. If Reebok ever wants to be popular again, this is not the way to do it.
I’ve got the OG ones still and the pump system is also only on the tongue on my version - but at least it’s effective. There used to be another OG version with full pump system too though

I would love to see Reebok pull a New Balance and come out with some new stuff that is actually good for performance. But that might be too much to ask at this point.
And absolutely not. The only way I score a point on Serena is if she tears her rotator cuff mid serve taking 50 mph off of it, and then when she runs to get my return, she ruptures her Achilles. Even then, I would still have to get lucky.
