- This is part 2 of my long weekend away in Retford in the campervan, in which I try out a toasting gizmo sent to me by a viewer, and try to recreate a recreation of a McDonald's breakfast bagel, as seen on the AdzVentures channel.

That was me that sent the strange toasting contraption. The young lady at the post office was very curious about the description I put on the mailing info. Yes, it does burn the toast very easily and I always have to take the battery out of the smoke detector, in my camper/caravan, when I use mine. Did you happen to see the instructions I included in the box?

I do enjoy a van trip with some of the "mundane" daily stuff. Seeing other folks' methods can be informative. Also, bonus points for a canal fix👍👍

If you can find a canning ring, the ring that holds a lid on a home canning jar, you can make a perfect egg mcmuffin sized egg in it. I spray mine with non stick spray, but it's the exact right size and shape for either a bagel or an english muffin.

Some great one liners in that video😂
A couple of thoughts for you
1) Brown sauce with sausage (sausage substitute, and ketchup with bacon (bacon substitute)
2) re showers with those pain to use bush buttons. On sometimes take a cable tie and leatherman multi tool. A fix cable tie around pipe and button, then cut it off when you have finished shower
Hubby made our once a year visit to McDonald's for a breakfast bagel and brought home a Berger King croissant. No more Bagel sandwiches here in Ohio, either. We were very disappointed. Yours looks great.
The Burger King Croissanwich is my favorite. I like the bacon egg & cheese. ones.

Good for you David, I also eat veggie sausages, they taste good and are much better for the body. I'm supposed to eat low fat, low cholesterol because of a triple bypass years ago.

Take a zip tie ...put the shower button to on, tighten zip tie. Let shower run to hopefully reach warm temp. Shower, then cut zip tie off....need pen knife !
Also, go early. Before 07.00. Most camp site users are not up that early to shower so any hot water is yours.
Ha, a video that embodies the transition from canals to campervanning - well done young sir. Just to mention - in the old days we used to take the kitchen toaster on trips in our splendid Fiat Talbot Highwayman - oh those were the days. May your van trips be as enjoyable as ours were.

I'm hungry now. 😄. An old tip for getting out of sticky situations like boggy ground or even snow. If you keep a couple of cheap door/floor mats, the carpet type in your storage area. If you get a bit stuck, jamb the shorter edge in front of the driving wheels and gently drive forward out of the boggy dip. Once moving drive to firmer ground and then retrieve the muddy mats for use again, hopefully sometime in the very distant future . If you dont drive over the mat slowly you risk them getting shot out behind and you have to start again.
About 18 years ago, I bought a car 12v toaster. Tiny thing that worked a treat.

Gaffer tape over the press button for the shower might just have allowed the water to get to an acceptable temperature. 🤔 Lovely park, aren't some places lucky to have something so pleasant. Have a good week David , polish up those handcuffs 😉

Poor David! You can't stay away from water for long, can you? Canal and rivers that is! The tepid showers in unheated cubicles sound really miserable. But hooray for the bagel breakfast and being able to use someone else's washing-up facilities.

In my youth I liked to cook my bread right over the top of the gas stove! I haven't done that in years.. everyone complained about the smell of the burned bread but I really enjoyed it.. I hope you liked it... Cheers from Missouri USA David..

"The Beast" sleeping pod. Highly recommended and will keep you warm. We use them in a tent down to 0'c and are very comfortable.

@@margarethoskins6625 they are by far and away the best sandwich known to man.
My mom (French Canadian) loved grilled cheese sandwichs with cheddar cheese plus strawberry or blueberry preserves.
Butter bread on both sides. Put very finely sliced cheddar then preserve then cheese again (fruit spread in the middle). Put slices together and grill on a cast iron skillet. Slowly. Use challah or brioche bread. Angels freaking weep. It's crusty, melty, fruity sweet. 😋
Also did that with Philadelphia cream cheese with marmalade or raspberry preserves. Same deal 😋
The trick is not to incinerate the bread. You want to golden crispy brown. Real butter does this beautifully. Patience is totally rewarded.
