Eh.. I agree to an extent. She definitely wasn’t toxic when she first came in but she became extremely toxic after the name issue. No matter what happened, if you choose to stay together, you forgive and move on. Not turn into a control freak who wants to know where their partner is every second of the day. That’s not healthy or acceptable.
I hate that everyone saw Emily like a villain, if your husband said her exgirlfriend's name on the altar and then you saw him taking your honeymoon trip WITH HER, you wouldn't want to see her again...

I was noticing in the season 3 clip when they're about to play strip poker, she (in character) is listening intently to who Ross is going to pick; I know it's the point of acting to pretend to be your character but I don't know that I would have had the presence of mind to be the character enough to think on my character's behalf enough of "Oh, is he gonna pick me? How would I react to that?"
@@JHernan-zw3cm More like rebound crush to Ross. Rachel was never really over him and only continued to throw herself in situations to avoid her feelings for him.
As much as I love this show, I do think they were one of those tight knit group of friends that never really welcomed anyone else in, looking back on episodes now they were dismissive of Emily from the get go. It's also like the time Chandler criticised Janine for making Joey's apartment 'too girly' despite the fact Joey liked it.

Chandler's criticism was because of sexism. And they welcomed Mike with open arms. Also Richard when he and Monica were a couple. Yeah they were not exactly "part of the group" but not every person will join the group of friends of their partner.
What always got me was Carol. She used to be *one* of the group - Ross' wife, Monica's sister-in-law, and she'd known Chandler since college. On the show, the only person that ever seemed to miss Carol hanging out with them was Phoebe.

I find it odd the resistance that a group of friends have with an "outsider". One of them makes a joke about stealing and it is funny, then the outsider understands it and makes an other joke on the same theme (a really good one, by the way) and they have the "you're weird" look on their face and she have to explain the obvious.
Under other posting of this clip, someone stated that it was actually very stereotipicall confrontation between American/British humour (not sure about spelling). I found this weird too, because I understanded Emily's joke right away, but after reading that comment, I was wondered if it is a sign of polish humour being closer to british than american, owerall it is all Europe.

Chandler understood and appreciated the joke, which you can see from his facial expression and slight nod when the camera immediately focuses towards him after the joke was made.
It also does make sense that Ross and Chandler would understand the joke, as they both use sarcasm to deflect when being humorous.

It should have been Ross and Emily. She really loved Ross. They didn't have a toxic relationship. I will never blame Emily. It was Rachel's fault and then Ross's fault....all along. Only these two were to blame. Only them. Not Emily...at all
Rachel was not to blame for Emily and Ross, only Ross was to blame as he said the wrong name at the altar and then Emily’s actions after we’re understandable but anyways Rachel is not to blame as she didn’t make Ross say her name
Don't blame Ross and Rachel. The show writers did want Helen Baxendale, the actress who played Emily, to be part of the gang, which means she had to move to America for the show. But she didn't want to since she was actually pregnant in real life (as you can see in a later episode when she is talking on the phone with Ross and telling him that he can't see Rachel anymore, she is on the bed covered by sheets). So the writers wrote her out of the show.
I dont hate emily but the way she acted after the wedding was unreasonable. You cant expect your husband to lose his only friend group just because you are jealous

I like video essay on Emily by The Take. She wasn't evil. It's just Ross, who had launched a nuclear love bomb on her, without getting to know her, just to ease his loneliness. Show tried to manipulate its viewers into disliking Emily by rewriting her character, to prepare the stage for R&R. In reality, it's this kind of story where a person would have to to through years of therapy after.

Emily is very nice and a sweetheart, yet firm. She brought the best out of Ross and actually made him a man in a way. Till Rachel showed up hoping that Ross will love her instead.

I actually really liked Emily. She was great and she was completely fine with Rachel and Ross's friendship in the beginning. She only became a jealous psycho who demanded he end his friendship with her AFTER he said her name at their wedding and honestly although I do think she took it a bit too far, I can completely understand her being extremely angry.

I liked Emily actually but for me this whole plot with her and Ross was so hard to believe... It was so obvious he loved Rachel so much and this thing with getting married to someone he knew for several months seemed so rushed and forced...
I look this storyline from another point of view.
It is true , they Rush their 'fling/relationship' to the wedding, but for me makes sense looking Ross's character later.
He realizes It was a mistake rush ecerything and with Elizabeth and Mona he wants to step by step, even he admitts his relationships probably dont go nowhere serious.
They decided to marry because of distance issues. They couldn't just date together when they lived thousands of miles from each other. It's too much effort. Even the wedding. They'd do that months after engagement, or not (Rachel would try to ruin it) but the place where Emily wanted to have a wedding, was supposed to be demolish in a few weeks so they had to hurry again.
They did it too quick but due to unfortunate circumstances.
Honestly loved Emily! She was great for Ross

One thing I hated about Friends writers is whenever a side character was about to be written off, that characters personality was about to do a whole 180. Emily went from this really sweet, lovable character to unbearable and bitchy. Yes, she had every reason to be unbelievably angry at Ross, but forcing him to sell his stuff, move out his own apartment to move like an hour away from his friends, etc was way over the line.

The baby glow is true tho, tho mine came after delivery. My hair and skin were phenomenal!!!! It was like I was a whole different person. Because I’ve always had issues with my skin and especially my hair. I looked fantastic right after giving birth. My pregnancy was rough tho...and of course in the weeks/months after delivery, it all started fading off.

@Carlos Henrique Simple answer : Rachel. Ross just always only really loved Rachel, she was the love of his life. But the problem was, they were both often too passionate, emotional and proud, and therefore couldn't get back together for years. But for Ross, there was always only Rachel. After all, he never wanted to get more involved with any other woman than Rachel, not even Emily, because although he did marry her, the fact that he said the name 'Rachel' at the wedding proves that he was subconsciously thinking about Rachel all the time, not about Emily. Rachel, for her part, has always sabotaged all of Ross's relationships - the most glaring example being when she went to his wedding only to tell him that she still loves him (in the end, she didn't do it just before or at the wedding, but still, she flew to London with that intention and her presence distracted Ross). So Ross was also Rachel's greatest love, love of her life.
The brief crush on Joey wasn't even a fling. They shared only maybe three kisses, and it clearly looked like a simple infatuation, because when it came down to it, neither Joey nor Rachel even managed to break the "friendship" barrier and sleep with each other. Why ? Because they never really fell in love, in the romantic sense of the word, they never even said it to each other. If they really fell in love and wanted each other, nothing would stop them from consuming this relationship, just as nothing had stopped Rachel and Ross in the past, from breaking the 'friendship' barrier. And why didn't anything stop Ross and Rachel? Because it was true love, always more than friendship or infatuation. And of course, at the end of the show, they finally admitted that they had always only loved each other.

That's what led her to flee from Ross and hate Rachel. She's a great girl. Ross is also at fault and Rachel's a complete bitch. She was so unbearable for me in season 4 for that I got too glad whenever Ross dated some beautiful women and she felt jealous.

According to David Crane the actress who played the role of Emily was meant to appear in several episodes. She wasn’t supposed to marry Ross ( only committed to marriage). However Emily became mad at Rachel and the other guys so she asked Ross to choose between them and a life with her. But the actress got pregnant ! The producers had to change the script mainly because Helen Baxendale ( Emily) was feeling pretty bad. The rest is history 🤷♀️🤷♀️
