Thanks for sharing. Some times you should take a bus from altamura to matera instead of the train ( depends on time) and I missed him when I was there because I didn't find the bus stop and no one in the train station knew where we can find the bus stop.:(

There is no wait time. The train is already there across the platform. From Matera Centrale it is an easy downhill walk to the Sassi. There is a bus that goes to lower areas of the Sassi, but it probably won't be of any use to you.

How was the scenery on the way was it worth the ride and when you get to Matera do you have to walk far? I’m looking to get to Matera and pay for a tour in one of the small cars. My aunt can’t walk the town, but I want so badly to go.

Se llama Bari Centrale, pero el ferrocarril se llama Ferrovia Appulo Lucane.

@MechHypalus The scenery is pleasant, though not spectacular. From the station, it is an easy downhill walk to the Sassi area.
Bisognava specificare i continui ritardi e i pessimi servizi che “offre” la FAL
Bari-Matera : una cinquantina di KM , forse meno : Tempo 1 ora e 50 minuti . Velocità media : 25/27 Km / ora !!! Che ridere !!!
75 km circa. E' una ferrovia a scartamento ridotto e trazione diesel.... mica una linea alta velocità!
