  • A town of Cary employee was charged with statutory sexual offense with a child and indecent liberties with a child. According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, Jordan Chaney Childress, 36, was charged with one count of indecent liberties with a child and one count of statutory sexual offense with a child after the sheriff's office received a tip in April. Childress, who is listed on Cary's website as a technical production coordinator in the town manager's office, was arrested Monday. He was being held in the Wake County Detention Center.
A spokesperson from the town of Cary said the crime occurred in another jurisdiction. According to the town, Childress was placed on non-disciplinary suspension.
The town released the following statement:
"Becoming a Town of Cary employee is a high bar that we take very seriously, including conducting extensive interviews, background checks, and drug screenings. Our thoughts are with everyone involved in this difficult situation."
