  • Ami’s authentic Samosas have everything you’d expect from this classic Indian recipe - a crispy crunchy outside, and a savory vegan filling (that you can remix however you’d like!). Get the Recipe: bit.ly/AuthenticSamosas
Perfectly flaky and crispy samosas, stuffed with savory and spicy veggies, are a filling snack, easy to transport, and always a crowd-pleaser! Plus, you won't have to worry about accommodating anyone's diet - these Homemade Samosas are vegan.
Samosas are often deep-fried, but if deep-frying at home intimidates you, you can still enjoy these homemade samosas! Instead of frying, these are easily baked.
Everything in this recipe is made from scratch, including the dough. It was taught to me by my dear friend, who happens to be our culinary assistant here, Ami. Her mum taught her how to make authentic samosas, a popular treat in India, and I'm so happy Ami shared this recipe with me because they are incredible!

    OMG
do any indians who live in pune remember just going to the shops getting so many that you cant eat all of them alone but still hog them all?
    just me?
ps. we have lamb or "kheema" and chicken filling and of course we following my tradition we go crazy with the spices!
in the lamb we usually have it nice and spicy
and the chicken can be mint and green chilli or spicy
(yes we love our chilly and turmeric)
we usually have ketchup or more commonly a sweet and tangy tamarind chutney
we also like adding something called pav bhaji masala which is a mix of spices which just makes the vegetarian samosa magical
    love the recipe!
and lovely to hear that the Irish love indian food
we are very proud of it

Hey I’m a chef from India and I love trying out your breads and it was fun seeing you try our samosas which is a staple in our homes! You can also try mixing ghee in the dough which gives it a richer taste- and we usually roast the mashed potatoes and peas too with the spices and chilli before adding them as a filling! In some parts they add peanut, cashews or even shredded coconut in the filling! And you can try with coriander Chutney as a dip!

    Hello Gemma,
I feel good to hear you like Indian food and I'm happy that I get to see this from my fav RUclipsr....For samosas we also saute the masalas along with tadka(tadka is nothing but spluttering mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves in oil)instead of directly adding to potatoes, this way the raw smell of masalas go away, also we add a 1/2 tsp of sugar while sauteing, little onions and then we add potatoes to the pan and cook for 5 mints, add coriander leaves, switch off flame, also adding crushed whole coriander seeds instead of powdered coriander while sauteing masalas enhances its flavour,it goes to next level...AND for the dough we can also use Clarified Butter(ghee)instead of oil,if Carom seeds aren't available we can replace it with cumin seeds too....Love from India...

I bake my Samosas to stay away from the frying. Yummy either way. I love Indian food because of my grandmother, my mother’s mom; always cooking it the traditional way. I mix my ingredients with both traditional and an added treats 😆. Thx Gemma ❤️ when chefs learn/cook knew recipes ❤️ beautiful collaboration with these two.

Wow perfect Indian samosas out there😍 Yes Samosas so have a variety of filling, potatoes and peas are common but theres also a lot of variation in spices and veggies with the two being a common ingredient. There are also many other fillings of chicken, minced mutton or chicken, paneer, we also add noodles and cheese to make it innovative. They also differ from state to state!
You could get Ami to do some Indian recipes like Pav bhaji, chhole bhature, idli, dosa, pani puri. I m sure audience throughout the world watching your channel would like it and would want to give it a try. Lots of love to you Gemma❤️

I love your energy and enthusiasm, Gemma! And your recipes are actually really great too...I discovered microwave mug cakes from your videos. Also, I like how you try to make sure the ingredients are easy to find at home without the need for visiting the grocery shop...which according to me, is a very Indian thing to do. More often than not, we buy and store ingredients in slightly larger quantities without really having just one dish in mind and then when we cook, we cook with whatever we have at home. So I always come here when I dont have a certain ingredient thinking- "Gemma may have a workaround for this." So thanks for that. :)

Ami's authentic Indian Gujrati Samosa recipe looks absolutely delicious! It seems much easier to make than I expected. Thank you Gemma for having Ami teach us and you how to make these yummy fried goodies. Ami's step by step instructions were very easy to follow. Very much like how you present all your recipes for us. Obviously you both are like minded in that respect and hence a good fit in the kitchen. A big plus for us! For future shows, perhaps Ami could teach us how to make traditional Indian Naan flat bread, Rasmalai and Gulab Jaman sweets? Those are my favorites.
