I have a 4x200 relay and I've never ran the 200 before or done a relay so wish me luck lol. It's my first year doing track and I'm in 7th grade, but I'm on the team with only 3 other 7th graders, and the rest of the girls are ages 8th to 11th grade because we don't do middle school track since I go to a jr sr high
... not to forget to start on the outside of your lane in order to straighten the first part of the acceleration phase. Set your blocks up at an angle aiming at the inside apex.
@@theemperor2017 Well, on a 200M sprint your acceleration and drive phase will be around a curve. It is much more efficient to drive along a straight line so the aim is to straighten the first 10 metres or so by positioning the blocks towards the outside of your lane and angle them in towards the inside of the lane.
Great memories of the 200m back in high school - 1979-80. PR - 23.1 (small upstate NY school) Middldburgh Invitational champ. Mayfield Invitational champ. Mayfield outstanding runner award. Center State Conference champ. Section III Class C champ. 200m former high school record holder at 23.2 set in 1980. Old record was set in 1953. New record set in 1994 - 22.8. Incredibly slow times back then compared to today's outstanding sprinters. My advice... Train hard. Have passion. Don't quit. Enjoy the moment. If you can't do 200, try the 400 or 800. @@wittallen4288 i think it all comes to just doing 300 meter reps and doing a lot of reps to failure. and maybe progression sprints. what else could it be? just speed endurance

Hey! Some advice please if you’d be so kind. Background: Currently training to run 100m in under 13 seconds, it’s a modest goal but one I’ve never achieved. Been visiting this every summer but this year decided to do a full block of winter training. It’s all just for me really, not thinking deluded and being competitive. PB: 13.49 (currently struggling to get below 13.7) Started going to the gym and lifting weights but still 5’10 and 190lbs (mostly fat) Athletics has always been my background and although never possessing proper talent, my technique and form is quite good. The question: When I run a 200m, I’m struggling to run quicker than 30.5 - I’m about fit enough do to 200m reps which I’m currently doing. Neither times are coming down? Do you think I’ve probably reached my limit or would shifting the fat and building a bit of muscle increase things the way I want it to? Thanks in advance and loved the video
Well first things first is go on a slight caloric deficit and run so you burn that fat. Fat don't fly. I think you'll really see results after that weight drops off. And if you haven't already, do more plyometric and isometric exercises if you haven't already. Its like frosting on the cake it opens a new world.
What is different between 200 meter and 400 meter track and field i do pretty good practicing I'm getting there though I sure hope I can make it with the track and field I will keep watching your videos and following step-by-step do it works
