We bought a new Countryman Cooper D All4 in 2015 and it’s been a great car over 9,5yrs and +100000km. Except for an X-Drive module being replaced under warranty, it’s been faultless and performing excellent for us. Very versatile car capable of hauling the entire family and space for our luggage in a roof box and possibility to tow a caravan/trailer up to 1200kgs.
Mini Countryman is a superb little family car👌🏻
Made for the Mini owners who loved the original Mini, albeit you could probably fit 2 original minis in side this one.. Love the quirkiness of the car.. Wouldn't have one but still admire, BMW for putting it out there..
As the owner of a old mark I mini I find myself unable to get into any new mini as I have a deep fear of them. The one key benefits of that vehicle is that I do not have any range anxiety with an EV as driving the mini long distance I used to worry whether it would get to the next service station on the motorway.
In fact, it used to have a lot of features in common with a modern EV: no heat coming from the front engine (you used to have to dress with warm clothes in winter), closed up front grille (a piece of wood over it in winter to keep water out), and the needs to pull into service stations regularly. I hope this one is better.

The font, tick marks and background colour on the speedo in "Timeless" is the same font on the Smith's instruments in the original Mini (which I've driven)
The potential Mini buyers never buy a Mini nowadays for efficiency, range or even space reasons.
They buy a Mini because of the exclusive "Mini" design, including the round screen.
The Mini was and still is an lifestyle product you can afford it or not.

I had a 2019 Mini Clubman Exclusive Cooper S 2L. Brilliant build quality, switches, drive, tech. This new generation is awful. You can see where they cut corners, I was so disappointed when I test drove it.

It's abysmal as an EV. Small battery, weak charging, non optimised cabin.
In the UK at least it's more expensive than a model Y LR when similarly specced. Absolutely no way I'd pick this
If the Mini SE makes sense as a rich girl's car to move around the city, the Countryman with pathetic battery and charge speed makes zero sense.
@@filippxx my nice has a Mini (ICE) and of course she also drives long distances with it - and I believe she's not that uinique amongst their customers
They make Countryman freaking HUGE and UGLY. Why not put a proper battery in it or focused on aero? Also sad because the outgoing MINI SE was the complete opposite story. Take i3 guts, throw into a plain old MINI and it's MORE efficient - without all the exotic materials and high end engineering that went into the i3.
The Mini Cooper SE still exists. This is a Countryman, of course it‘s a lot bigger than that. Moreover there is now an Aceman which is now the size of the original Countryman so this had to grow in size to make room for that.
It's in reality not German but built in China for BMW. Based on a Chinese developed EV platform, same manufacturer of the OrCat. Production will eventually transferred to Europe.
Are you sure you do not mix up things with the standard Mini?
You’re mistaking the Countryman with the Aceman which is indeed developed and build in China for now. BMW is planning to move the production to Europe but hasn’t decided yet.
@@BenEngel1961 Your write, the Countryman is not manufactured in China but instead in Leipzig Germany, good catch. The Cooper though, is manufactured in Zhangjiagang China. The Cooper at the very least is based on a cooperative collaboration between BMW and Great Wall Motor with the underlying EV drive line heavily influenced by GWM. This not necessarily a bad thing just a shift in thinking, it would though be surprising if the Countryman did not follow the same drive line influence from the Cooper development cooperation between BMW and GWM. The reason, logistics. 🙂

What do you mean by ‘the Cooper’ and how does that relate tot the topic Countryman?
I’m aware of the cooperation between BMW and GWM and the subsequent model that came out of that, being the Aceman and also point that the Countryman is the completely German sibling from the all German BMW X1/X2.
I also point out that due to extra tariffs on cars build in China BMW considers to produce the Aceman foor the European market in Europe.
