I'm too far away to drive to a place to see it but I did witness a total eclipse as a child by looking in my little swimming pool. My dad instructed us not to look directly at the sun but that we could view it safely in the pools reflection. It is such a sweet memory from my childhood. Thanks Daddy❤❤❤ I miss you but know one day we will be reunited in paradise with our Savior.
Watching the eclipse using a pool of water like you described or even a bucket of water is the absolute best way to watch the eclipse if you don't have dark lenses.

The sun and moon are a part of God's creation and we should be in awe of God during the eclipse. The greatest glory is God Himself, but the world only sees the eclipse and refuses to give glory to God. If it is not cloudy it will be an awesome sight, but greater sights await God's children, Christ's face being the greatest.

I am a welder. Welding produces ultraviolet infrared and visible light. I use my helmet 12 to 18 in away from the arc 8 hours a day. If you can weld without burning the eyes out of your skull you can look at the eclipse for a couple minutes.
The other day God showed me without saying a word why i need to spread the gospel. I was in an uber coming back from downtown and i was in the back just listening to the driver converse with my family and i just felt a pure love for that man and understood that it was the love of God shining in my heart for him and it made me realize how important sharing his word is to him.

August 2017, took the wife and five kids camping in a small municipal park in Southern Illinois just for the eclipse. It was an incredible experience! My kids have never forgotten! This year we’ll find a different spot (adult children now), but I hope the experience is just as awesome. Get out and see it! P.S. Just reminded by one of the kids to bring a jacket. The temperature dropped by about 15 degrees F while the sun was blocked.
My wife and I were in the direct path for the last one. It was spectacular. We had glasses to watch, and it was amazing. If you can go to be in the direct path, I highly recommend it.
I live in the path of totality, I am also a member of a ham radio club. We often help fire and police departments during major events. We will be providing emergency communications if needed.

A solar eclipse during totality is one of the most incredible and amazing things I have ever witnessed. Literally breathtaking. It was very spiritual and emotional for me, much like witnessing the birth of my two children.
I drove to Missouri in 2017 to see it but this time my house it right in the middle😊 It's mind blowing how precise God is. Edit... Last time it was insanely hot then ot dawned on me that my skin was dry. Temperature dropped about 35 to 40 degrees. And heated back up as soon as the sun came out. Took me a while to figure out why the temp doesn't drop or rise as quick when the sun sets or rises. It's like standing in front of a fireplace and someone puts a heat shield in front of you and then removes it. Also the crickets started chirping, frogs started croaking, the bats came out and the stars came out.
Our creator God is the greatest Scientist , Biologist , Physicist , Chemist , Technologist ,etc etc etc etc etc etc --------------who brought all of this into existence for us to enjoy . How amazing and wonderful is his Handywork .

The 2017 eclipse came right over great falls, montana and it was insane when it went day to night and you felt the temperature cool off drastically. It was so crazy and I will never forget it.

Every time there is a total solar eclipse I hear "it'll be another 20 years before this happens again" but...why does it feel like there have been total solar eclipses every few years?
There is one somewhere on the planet every year. Often it's inaccessible, appearing over the ocean somewhere or in another country. There was one in the USA in 2017, and again this year. It will be a long time before the USA sees one again.
The thing that put's this one ahead of any previous and any future is the duration of totality. Generally totality last some minute and a half, plus or minus a few second's. This one will have a duration starting in Mazatlan Sinaloa MX. Some 4 minute's plus or minus a few second's. As an avid backyard astronomer since the age of 10, is the reason I started my plan of retireing and relocating to Mazalan. I'm now 75 and this IS the last on my bucket list.
My mom is from Mazatlán and we recently bought a condo there. Unfortunately since my brother and I are still in school and since she is a teacher we can't go down and see it. 😭Also we're renting it as well so we told the people to make sure to bring glasses so they can enjoy it.

Which then the various hotels, motel's and every where else to rent to tripple, quadruaple and more. My in law's here have charged with out any debate now ten time's their normal rate for this one particular week. And because getting here and leaving is limited by the number of flight's per day. It's a two week endevor. Thus unless you have an avid interest in astronomy. Viewing it at home via any of the various media's, will and would be sufficent. But for my self, it's been a plan for some 40 year's, to be here.

I got to experience a total eclipse back in 2017 in North Carolina in me and my mom's own cabin and I can say it was beautiful. I can't wait to experience it again! I will definitely travel to the total eclipse zone if I can, I'm currently in Florida so we would only experience a very partial eclipse.
The last total eclipse of the sun seen in NC was in March of 1970. I was in high school and remember it well. I haven't seen a total eclipse since. I did see a partial solar eclipse a few years ago.

I was living On the big island off Hawaii in 1991. there was the solar eclipse of the century that lasted 7 minutes and it was right over us. I have a two-year-old that I was holding in my arms and was 7 months pregnant with another son. I stepped out on to my Lanai and it went from daylight to dark pretty quickly.
an eclipse is absolutely amazing it is awe inspiring i witnessed one in july it was so hot outside and the temperature dropped at least 15 degrees it got really dark and cool and when the sun began to peak around the edge called the diamond ring i looked with my naked eye for a split second and it was a starburst of every color of the spectrum now don't stare at it people i glanced for a split second it was gorgeous if you have never witnessed it go drive and see it take his advice and dont do what i did it didnt burn my eyes or anything dont risk it but im glad i did ive never seen more beautiful light oh yes and the crickets came out like at night it was incredible

What an incredible "coincidence" that the sun and moon are just the right distance from earth to make life possible, that the sun is 400x further and larger than the moon to make breathtaking total eclipses possible, and that the orbits are so precise that we can predict where and when they will take place hundreds of years in advance to the second, and that it happens to be observable from planet that has intelligent beings that are able to observe it.

In 2017 my daughter and I didn't have the glasses. So we recorded the eclipse with our phone, without looking directly at the eclipse. It's great to still have the video of the eclipse, but it would have been better if we would have prepared better and purchased these glasses. 🌖
Ive seen two total eclipses one when i was a young girl and the other was in 2017. I drove 2 hrs to see it and it and took 4.5 hrs to drive back home, it was totally worth it. I wont drive to see the one in April but i will be able to be in the 80 % for this one. Im an artist and all i can do is try to copy His handy work because He is the greatest of artist. And these are given to us as signs and wonders.

I don't think we should ignore the fact that this eclipse path is passing over 7 cities called Niniveh, 7 years after the last eclipse path which passed over 7 cities called Salem (Jerusalem). I don’t think it’s nice to say that something is wrong with people if they aren’t in awe of the solar eclipse. Some people are undergoing trauma and it’s just not on their radar. It doesn’t mean something is wrong with them. Just hopefully in life they can soon experience peace and revel more in God’s Creation! 🙏🙏

I lived in the path of the 1970 solar eclipse. My Dad was driving me to a school event and warned me to make sure to not look at it. I covered my eyes with my hands and being an 8 year old girl, I peeked through my fingers for a quick second, just with my right eye. It wasn't long after this happened I began to have a bit of trouble seeing as clearly as I always did. My Parents took me to the eye doctor and while my left eye was perfectly fine, my right eye wasn't. That's how I ended up having to wear glasses. Was it a coincidence? I don't think so. Just be careful and do not look at it no matter how much you want to, better safe than sorry.
I already have a weak left eye from Amblyopia and Strabismus. When I was in 2nd grade, we had a solar eclipse and even with the special glasses, i was afraid to go out and look so I just watched it on the TV in our classroom.
2017, I just looked up a little bit higher in the sky without looking directly at the sun. I could tell when it was dimmer. It was still neat to look at for a partial eclipse.
What's even more amazing is that in a flat and enclosed system with the Sun and Moon INSIDE the firmament, God made the eclipse so we could be in awe at how AMAZING His creation truly is!
Yeah, that would be great to see the eclipse, but I have a dentist appointment that day. I did see the full eclipse in South Carolina, took a little photo of it. Truly amazing!

I saw one when I was in middle school years ago. My dad brought some stuff down to my school so my class could safely view the eclipse. Now I'm living on the other side of the country, I'm married and have my own kids now. Luckily I'm right in the path of this eclipse and I can't wait to see it.
I've seen a total eclipse before and there is now way to describe how awesome they are. I will be there for the upcoming eclipse as well. If you can, try to see it. Pictures or video do not do justice.

This video was such a blessing! I saw the 2017 totality, it just happened to pass directly over my apartment. I want to try and get to a location just a couple of hrs away from my current location with my nephew to see this next one. He was only 11 for the last one, now he's 17 and old enough, I think, to truly appropriate the magnitude of this event and how he can connect with God through the experience, as I feel I did to some degree with my last viewing of a total solar eclipse in 2017! That was the most surreal, dream-like while awake, experience I've ever had! It was amazing!
I don't know what you mean by "rare". Is the average of one every 18 months considered rare? But "so much attention is being given to this one" because it's going to happen in the US (this is an American channel, after all) and there won't be another total solar eclipse over the continental US for the next 20 years.
We were living just outside Salem Oregon in 2017. We just had to go outside to experience the eclipse. It was amazing! That was an experience I’ll never forget. ✝️

I was lucky enough to witness the 2017 solar eclipse in Salem Oregon. It absolutley blew my mind! I am so bummed I wont be able to witness this upcmoing eclipse. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone try to see one in their lifetime. It was SO much more spectacular than I thought.

Other ways to view the eclipse: a bucket of water, cutting a perfect hole in a piece of paper (which is really cool because the shadow from that hole on the ground will take the form of the eclipse. It's neat to see a ring of light from a hole in a solid object.
Considering a welding arc produces UV light, I’ve been sunburned while welding, I’d be surprised to know that UV light isn’t blocked by lenses intended for welding.
Arc welding produces IR, and ultraviolet. They tell the public not to use a weld helmet, because weld helmets have different strength lenses, or battery powered adjustable lenses, depending on how high the welder is turned up for the work you do. therefore, they don't want some neophyte just grabbing one and assuming it will do the job. @@dannyfaulknerstars
We were living there when the last one happened… husband had lost his job and was working in a different town and missed it. Then by December, we had moved to a completely different state . Now we would have to drive four hours to go see it and I’m sure the traffic going home would be worse… Our youngest was not born until 2019 so he hasn’t seen one … Wish we could manage to go somewhere where is happening but we don’t live close enough to justify driving.

I'm too far away to drive to a place to see it but I did witness a total eclipse as a child by looking in my little swimming pool. My dad instructed us not to look directly at the sun but that we could view it safely in the pools reflection. It is such a sweet memory from my childhood. Thanks Daddy❤❤❤ I miss you but know one day we will be reunited in paradise with our Savior.

I saw my one and only full eclipse in 1979. I was in college and the teachers let the class out to see it. Just amazing and I'll never forget it.

The sun and moon are a part of God's creation and we should be in awe of God during the eclipse. The greatest glory is God Himself, but the world only sees the eclipse and refuses to give glory to God. If it is not cloudy it will be an awesome sight, but greater sights await God's children, Christ's face being the greatest.

I was in a total eclipse in Scotland 🏴 about 12 years ago, it was utterly amazing. The whole world as far as the eye could see was colourless, just grey stretching out , even people faces . It was as unforgettable ❤
You weren't. The last total eclipse visible from the Uk was in 1999, and that only from the southern tip of Cornwall.

I am a welder. Welding produces ultraviolet infrared and visible light. I use my helmet 12 to 18 in away from the arc 8 hours a day. If you can weld without burning the eyes out of your skull you can look at the eclipse for a couple minutes.

The other day God showed me without saying a word why i need to spread the gospel. I was in an uber coming back from downtown and i was in the back just listening to the driver converse with my family and i just felt a pure love for that man and understood that it was the love of God shining in my heart for him and it made me realize how important sharing his word is to him.

August 2017, took the wife and five kids camping in a small municipal park in Southern Illinois just for the eclipse. It was an incredible experience! My kids have never forgotten! This year we’ll find a different spot (adult children now), but I hope the experience is just as awesome. Get out and see it! P.S. Just reminded by one of the kids to bring a jacket. The temperature dropped by about 15 degrees F while the sun was blocked.

I live in the path of totality, I am also a member of a ham radio club. We often help fire and police departments during major events. We will be providing emergency communications if needed.
Night time seems to be more of a major event than it getting dark for less than 5 minutes.

A solar eclipse during totality is one of the most incredible and amazing things I have ever witnessed. Literally breathtaking. It was very spiritual and emotional for me, much like witnessing the birth of my two children.
I drove to Missouri in 2017 to see it but this time my house it right in the middle😊
It's mind blowing how precise God is.
Edit... Last time it was insanely hot then ot dawned on me that my skin was dry. Temperature dropped about 35 to 40 degrees. And heated back up as soon as the sun came out. Took me a while to figure out why the temp doesn't drop or rise as quick when the sun sets or rises.
It's like standing in front of a fireplace and someone puts a heat shield in front of you and then removes it.
Also the crickets started chirping, frogs started croaking, the bats came out and the stars came out.

The 2017 eclipse came right over great falls, montana and it was insane when it went day to night and you felt the temperature cool off drastically. It was so crazy and I will never forget it.

Every time there is a total solar eclipse I hear "it'll be another 20 years before this happens again" but...why does it feel like there have been total solar eclipses every few years?
There is one somewhere on the planet every year. Often it's inaccessible, appearing over the ocean somewhere or in another country. There was one in the USA in 2017, and again this year. It will be a long time before the USA sees one again.
Eclipse may be more often, but in different places.
This will be my 3rd was born in 1980. I doubt if all 3 was the same type of eclipse though.
There won't be another total solar eclipse visible from the USA for 20 years.

I live in the path of the 2017 one. It was incredible and quite moving.
The thing that put's this one ahead of any previous and any future is the duration of totality. Generally totality last some minute and a half, plus or minus a few second's. This one will have a duration starting in Mazatlan Sinaloa MX. Some 4 minute's plus or minus a few second's. As an avid backyard astronomer since the age of 10, is the reason I started my plan of retireing and relocating to Mazalan. I'm now 75 and this IS the last on my bucket list.
My mom is from Mazatlán and we recently bought a condo there. Unfortunately since my brother and I are still in school and since she is a teacher we can't go down and see it. 😭Also we're renting it as well so we told the people to make sure to bring glasses so they can enjoy it.

Which then the various hotels, motel's and every where else to rent to tripple, quadruaple and more. My in law's here have charged with out any debate now ten time's their normal rate for this one particular week. And because getting here and leaving is limited by the number of flight's per day. It's a two week endevor.
Thus unless you have an avid interest in astronomy. Viewing it at home via any of the various media's, will and would be sufficent. But for my self, it's been a plan for some 40 year's, to be here.

I got to experience a total eclipse back in 2017 in North Carolina in me and my mom's own cabin and I can say it was beautiful. I can't wait to experience it again! I will definitely travel to the total eclipse zone if I can, I'm currently in Florida so we would only experience a very partial eclipse.
The last total eclipse of the sun seen in NC was in March of 1970. I was in high school and remember it well. I haven't seen a total eclipse since. I did see a partial solar eclipse a few years ago.

I was living On the big island off Hawaii in 1991. there was the solar eclipse of the century that lasted 7 minutes and it was right over us. I have a two-year-old that I was holding in my arms and was 7 months pregnant with another son.
I stepped out on to my Lanai and it went from daylight to dark pretty quickly.

In 2017 my daughter and I didn't have the glasses. So we recorded the eclipse with our phone, without looking directly at the eclipse. It's great to still have the video of the eclipse, but it would have been better if we would have prepared better and purchased these glasses. 🌖

Ive seen two total eclipses one when i was a young girl and the other was in 2017. I drove 2 hrs to see it and it and took 4.5 hrs to drive back home, it was totally worth it. I wont drive to see the one in April but i will be able to be in the 80 % for this one. Im an artist and all i can do is try to copy His handy work because He is the greatest of artist. And these are given to us as signs and wonders.
So many people are fearful of this event. The USA needs repentance and revival. But it has to start with the Household of God.

It's not just the eclipse that's happening on April 8th - Revelation 12 3&4 is HAPPENING DURING the eclipse. Just like what happened on September 23, 2017 with the woman and the moon under her feet. I don't think we should ignore the fact that this eclipse path is passing over 7 cities called Niniveh, 7 years after the last eclipse path which passed over 7 cities called Salem (Jerusalem). I believe this is a sign given to us by God to show judgement on the US. Just as God had Jonah preach a message of repentance, so God shows America that we must repent and turn to Him.
Also worth noting, I believe in israel they are sacrificing the red heifer, just a few weeks prior to this event.

I lived in the path of the 1970 solar eclipse. My Dad was driving me to a school event and warned me to make sure to not look at it.
I covered my eyes with my hands and being an 8 year old girl, I peeked through my fingers for a quick second, just with my right eye.
It wasn't long after this happened I began to have a bit of trouble seeing as clearly as I always did.
My Parents took me to the eye doctor and while my left eye was perfectly fine, my right eye wasn't. That's how I ended up having to wear glasses.
Was it a coincidence? I don't think so. Just be careful and do not look at it no matter how much you want to, better safe than sorry.

I saw one when I was in middle school years ago. My dad brought some stuff down to my school so my class could safely view the eclipse. Now I'm living on the other side of the country, I'm married and have my own kids now. Luckily I'm right in the path of this eclipse and I can't wait to see it.

This video was such a blessing! I saw the 2017 totality, it just happened to pass directly over my apartment. I want to try and get to a location just a couple of hrs away from my current location with my nephew to see this next one. He was only 11 for the last one, now he's 17 and old enough, I think, to truly appropriate the magnitude of this event and how he can connect with God through the experience, as I feel I did to some degree with my last viewing of a total solar eclipse in 2017! That was the most surreal, dream-like while awake, experience I've ever had! It was amazing!

I was lucky enough to witness the 2017 solar eclipse in Salem Oregon. It absolutley blew my mind! I am so bummed I wont be able to witness this upcmoing eclipse. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone try to see one in their lifetime. It was SO much more spectacular than I thought.

Other ways to view the eclipse: a bucket of water, cutting a perfect hole in a piece of paper (which is really cool because the shadow from that hole on the ground will take the form of the eclipse. It's neat to see a ring of light from a hole in a solid object.
Considering a welding arc produces UV light, I’ve been sunburned while welding, I’d be surprised to know that UV light isn’t blocked by lenses intended for welding.

Arc welding produces IR, and ultraviolet. They tell the public not to use a weld helmet, because weld helmets have different strength lenses, or battery powered adjustable lenses, depending on how high the welder is turned up for the work you do. therefore, they don't want some neophyte just grabbing one and assuming it will do the job. @@dannyfaulknerstars
I was in Cookeville, TN when the one in 2017 occurred. Just happened to be there for work, and got to see the eclipse.
We were living there when the last one happened… husband had lost his job and was working in a different town and missed it.
Then by December, we had moved to a completely different state .
Now we would have to drive four hours to go see it and I’m sure the traffic going home would be worse…
Our youngest was not born until 2019 so he hasn’t seen one …
Wish we could manage to go somewhere where is happening but we don’t live close enough to justify driving.
