Oh my goodness, this was such a wonderful video and easy to follow!!! I have been trying to learn Inkscape (my brain is old:), and this video helped tremendously. Followed along with it in Inkscape and was able to successfully "weld" letters together and use nodes to adjust. Only problem, when I try to go to "stroke" and getting rid of the "fill", it converts back to fill. I will figure it out though! Thanks again.

Thanks for the great video! I have just ordered my (back-ordered) GF. I'm getting ready for my projects ahead of time by creating SVG. Question: My inkscape screen doesn't show the text tool screen on the right like yours. The font shows at the top left and I am always searching all the menus for what you can find easily like stroke, etc. Any idea how to add that tool screen? I might just have downloaded a different version of Inscape.

By the way, you should stick with V1. I am tied up with a few other projects, but will start updating videos as soon as I can. I am sure they have updated a lot of stuff in V1.
So... you want each letter individually? Actually have the footage of that project on the pc at school... will post in the AM. If you are aiming for something else, elaborate. I love a challenge. =)

I need help! Every time I try to upload it to glowforge it tells me the the design doesn’t have any printable elements in it. I already saved it as Inkscape svg and plain svg and it still tells me the same thing

I'm not seeing the same tool box on the side to set stroke and see text (font choices) How do I get that window to open?
You can find stroke on the object menu. Fonts on the Text menu. Also Shift+Ctrl+F and Shift+Ctrl+T should make them appear.

What sort of material? I just cut them like anything else and glued the dot where it needed to be. Thanks for the visit!
I also engraved instead of cut so the hole was does was where it should be.
could you do a video on making jigs for the glowforge. 've yet to find one that simplifies it for a wooden spoon.

I believe you missed the step where the text needed to be converted to curves.
