DJI Phantom 4 Unedited 4K Sample Drone Footage (Aerial Shots of Sedona Arizona)

I brought the Phantom 4 drone along with me on my spring break trip to Arizona to test out the video capabilities of the newest quadcopter from DJI. I filmed all of the footage in 4K/30fps and did not edit it in post (this is why some of the shots are a little dark). Most of the clips were captured using the standard flight mode, but I did utilize the Active Track and POI modes for a couple shots.

despite the title it looks pretty edited to me...
I'm seriously not experienced in high def video and have never filmed in 4K and don't really know anything about it. I do however know what the sky looks like in the southwest when the sun is low and I'm assuming that even unedited 4K footage is still pretty breath taking. I was giving dude the benefit of the doubt.

Unlock the gimbal to achieve 30 degrees higher in the DJI settings. Then
aim the camera all the way up, fly backwards at full speed, and slowly
pan down for a very cool shot! I think you should give that a try! Check

Thats really good looking for just out of the box. Have you messed around with any of the filters you can buy for the camera? How would I make footage like this be a little more vibrant.
I didn't use filters for this, but I did pick up a set about 3 months after I bought this drone. Wish I had bought them sooner as soon as I began using them. They help make the footage more vibrant like you want, plus they give the camera a slight boost of dynamic range and get rid of prop shadows. I use the Polar Pro Vivid Cinema Series set (amzn.to/2iEHvTk) and would definitely recommend it despite its somewhat high price.
You know that the patching together and the speeding up counts as editing right? I just wanted something to steal and practice my editing skills. I mean it's not that bad because the video is pretty dope but... It was edited, man! haha!
I see a lot of people wanting this so the next video I upload like this I'm gonna include a link to a dropbox of the footage so people could download it for practice editing.

what are some of the difference between DJI phantom 4 and Inspired 1, is the camera quality and clearness better with Inspired?

Looks like you were definitely operating within 5 miles of the airport there. Curious what you did to get the approval? Did you get each flight approved or did you get some sort of blanket approval to operate?
Only a couple of locations that I flew at were actually within five miles of the airport. But I did contact someone at the Sedona airport who gave me a blanket approval. They don't have a control tower, so I couldn't actually contact them for each flight even if I wanted to.
Very cool - just getting into the hobby so trying to learn the rules, regs, and how others operate. I live in Phoenix and frequent Sedona so cool was curious. Thanks!!

Hello, I have just recently purchased the phantom 4 and have taken it on a few flights. I have been using 4k at 24fps. I have an adapter plug that lets me take videos straight from the micro sd card and transfer the 4k videos onto my iPad. The video gallery in the IPad won't play any of the 4k videos and on my computer they are all choppy and I just don't know what to do. Any help that you may be able to offer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

what render setting are you using for the 4k image to look good i tried to render my 4k footage and it never comes out like it does in the program looks less sharp ad not alot of detail? i use premere pro cc
what COLOR profile do you prefer to shoot video on P4. Nice shots

Hey, couple of questions: Did you use an ND filter here? I'm getting terrible over exposure when using 4k 24/25 with doubled shutter speed. What settings did you use for this smooth motion? I get tons of juidder and aliasing
+Dirty Diamond Productions I honestly just let the drone do all the work. This was incredibly all filmed in full auto exposure mode without a lens filter of any kind. (I now use the ND Cinema Filters from Polar Pro FYI). I think one of the keys to getting good smooth footage is the time of day (early morning or late evening).

That's a damn good question. I went back and watched about 20 times and it you would have to climb the rocks.
+koolkiwikat One, good eye to catch that. I want back to watch it again to make sure I knew what shot you were talking about it took me several tries to pause it at the right point.
And two: actually that isn't me. I was about a mile away happily piloting away from a lot lower place. I saw that to and I am hoping that it was some extremely adventurous individuals sleeping in sleeping bags on top of the rocks after rock climbing up it. Didn't see any buzzards circling so I am gonna assume they weren't dead lol.
Loving the scenery! I done a very similar video on my channel but the scenery in London isn't so good when it's raining! :(

I have tried the polar Pros ND 8 and I just purchased the ND 8, and 16 from DJI directly for the P4. i will be trying it out this weekend.

+DronesAboveSwitzerland I think everyplace is filled with beauty, you just have to know how and where to look. Granted, some places (like Switzerland) are more traditionally beautiful and with the high snow covered peaks can fill one with a sense of wonder. Other places might not be as majestic, grand, or even on the same scale as places we almost universally deem "beautiful" but I believe that they are just as beautiful if you take the time to appreciate them. [Sorry to get all philosophical on you. I'm guessing your comment wasn't completely serious.]

If you have the Phantom 4 it can shoot 1080p at 120fps which will allow you to slow the footage down in post.

+killercake90 I used Final Cut Pro X to edit this video. I also use CS6 for my school films and don't know why you should be having problems with it being choppy. Do you try rendering it out before you play it back? Are you editing 4K footage as that requires a much faster computer than editing with 1080p.

No it does not, sorry I'll remove that from the title as it is confusing some people. I meant it like raw as in straight from the camera, but putting it in all caps made it look like I meant the other. Maybe one day the DJI will put a camera that shoots RAW video on a Phantom...

+Walker Burgess I use Final Cut Pro X the most often, but it is sadly Mac only. If you are on a PC give Adobe Premiere Pro as that's an industry standard and a great program.
hi there I need some help please, I purchased the phantom 4 and im using 4k 25fps, flat profile, stlye set to -1.. and footgae has a weird effect going on, like its twitching, my ISO was 100, and shutter was set to 320.. what is going on?? can you please help... What is the best/suggest setting for clean sharp footage (im happy to add contrast or vibrance in post if thats better.. please help!!
Pick up an ND filter set like this one (amzn.to/2iLVQdM) from PolarPro. An ND (neutral density) filter reduces the amount of light that enters the camera allowing it to use a lower shutter speed, which in turn will make your footage less twitchy and more cinematic. Plus, the ND4/PL filter that they include in the set will also help give you more vibrant footage and reduce glare off of windows and water.

Yeah, luckily the new P4 Pro offers the best of both worlds with 4k/60fps.
