Creeping death and trapped under ice are two amazing songs from this album
Creeping death live in Moscow was amazing. The energy was off the chain!
She would love trapped under ice!
Trapped Under Ice is probably the most underrated… definitely at the top 5 of my list!!! 🤘🏼🖤🤘🏼
two of my favorite songs
Trapped Under Ice is a force! Ride the Lightning is such a great album. Ride the Lightning is the first Metallica album I ever bought and still love it.
You pretty much can’t go wrong with any Metallica from the 80’s - FACT! 👍👍👍
PLAYS ESCAPE
@@phillipfry9765 I love Escape, and pretty sure it's also one of their most accessible 80s songs
Escape sucks by Metallica standards
@@nachocheez9690 by their standards, yes but it's still a great song nonetheless
Metallica awesome but the gods of metal is iron maiden
That was the best interpretation of the guitar solo I've heard so far.
This album is nothing short of a masterpiece!
@metallfan2k7 - true, 100%. Especially considering the history.
Such as people still think that "Ride the Lightning" is about being electrocuted... But in fact both "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" are about... drugs.
So when listening to both those songs, there is actually much deeper meaning there. Amazing, considering the fact that at that time, those guys were just above 20 years old (when both albums were created). And let's not forget... Cliff Burton, as pretty much most of the stuff there was his creativity.
Pretty much every song from the first 4 albums is an absolute banger.
'Spit out the bone' off their newest album Hardwired to Self Destruct, really feels like an old school metallica song. Recommend checking it out if you haven't yet.
Fun fact: Spit Out The Bone is a song made from their history. The distorted bass part reflecting on Cliff with his distorted bass parts and solos, in the intro you can hear an open chord ringing out with fast drums in the background kind of like Whiplash and a few other songs on Kill 'Em All that did that. And one of the solos was even like the solos Kirk played on Kill 'Em All. "Reinvent the earth inhabitant" which is one of the lyrics in this song kind of makes you think about Blackened from And Justice For All. I think there was more than that but I cannot remember anything else.
I prefair moth into flame and halo on fire from the new album.
It's not their "NEWEST" anymore. It's been 6 years now since the release. They absolutely need to make a new album
@@belliiahmed Have they made an album since? If not it's still their newest album.
It's not even in their top 50
This song has my favorite guitar solos of Metallica, Kirk Hammett's one of the underrated ones imo
Kirk is one of my favs. I love his whole energy!
@@lillyjanereacts Eddie Van Halen,Tony Iommi, Zakk Wylde, Randy Rhoads, Adrian Smith, Herman Li, Alexi Laiho, Jeff Loomis, Synyster Gates,Vivian Campbell, etc.
Samuel Cristea of Liliac is my favorite current young guitarist, that dude is talented and he's just 23.
@@Salomon_G Kirk has written better riffs than 99% of the other bands out there, he deserves every bit of credit he gets.
@@Salomon_G I said the solo's underrated, not Kirk.
@@Salomon_G No he didn't, he wrote the main riff and a couple other riffs, solo is nothing like Dave's style as well, it's an obvious Kirk solo.
Trapped Under Ice is such an underrated song. It's like one of the scariest moments one could have if they fell through the ice in the river and the river pushed them away from the out hole
I think the song is about someone frozen in cryonics, like one of those death-postponing pods (like Futurama) and waking up in it but still frozen.
RTL is very scary lyrically and James really sells the fear in his voice.
Trapped under ice is a wicked song & one of my favs, ill be doing a review video for that song alone sometime soon
Creeping death is another banger from this album, my personal favorite from them!
I remember when I first heard this album... when it was new. To see it heard it through younger and more joyful ears takes me back to the time when I could enjoy it the same way. Thank you for making me feel young again for a minute. Cheers.
Disposable Heroes, and Leper Messiah are two tracks that MUST be reacted to
Oooh Disposable Heroes...
And 'the thing that should not be"!!!!
She already did the thing that should not be
For most of us old heads anything after the black album is substandard. I keep telling you kids to start from the beginning! Kill em, Lightening, and Puppets are all BRILLIANT!
First 4 albums for me are by far the best.
I know music is subjective but pretty sure alot of people even new fans agree with that thought
And justice for all goes on that list
@@mattb6646 Yep, Yep, forgot about "Justice".
Honestly, for my old ass, anything past Justice for All is not all that...(but all prior including Justice are fire...cover to cover!)
Lightning is my fav album as well - but Puppets is impossible to dismiss. By my account you've only heard one track from that album.
I highly encourage you to listen to "Disposable Heroes" from Puppets. That's is a guitar solo enthusiast's dream!!
Then from Justice album which you've only done "One", i highly encourage you to check out "Blackened" the lead-in track on that album. Very similar to this song Lightning in that it's heavy in your face with a lot of aggression and profound make you uncomfortable moments (in a good way).
Loving your metal reactions. Many of us prefer the older Metallica as well so welcome to the club!
Now you have to react to Fight fire with fire!
The Call of Ktulu (Instrumental) from this album, from other albums: Spit out the Bone, Disposable Heroes, Sanitarium, Battery... the list goes on, but I look forward to seeing more reactions. Great job.
If you’re liking Metallica, then you’ll probably also really like Pantera. “Walk” is their most popular song, but I also highly recommend “Cemetary Gates”, “Cowboys from Hell”, and the live version of “Domination”.
DON'T DO THE OFFICIAL VIDEO FOR CEMETERY GATES, IT CUTS THE INTRO
a great song she should react to by Pantera is the "Hole in the sky" cover by Black Sabbath 🤟
Becoming🔥🔥
Pantera is alright for posers. 4 hair metal albums in the 80's that flopped so they switch to thrash oops I mean "groove" (WTF) metal.
@@victoriawebber8104 Yeah, Poison is probably more your speed
Ride the Lightning is a signature album for Metallica.
Both this and Master of Puppets are arguably their best album.
no argument here!
great reaction! i wish i could listen to this album for the first time again!
awesome reaction. loved your analysis of the solo. i've been listening to this song since i was 14 and always loved it, but never thought of the solo in that regard. but the way you describe it in relation to the lyrics definitely makes a lot of sense. great job
I love this album, it was the second I bought from them back in the early 90's when I was a kid, the first was Master Of Puppets, then ...And Justice For All and Metallica (The Black Album) all on Cassettes, later on CDs. My favorite songs from this one are Fight Fire with Fire, Fade To Black, Creeping Death and The Call of Ktulu. There are some songwriting contributions by Dave Mustaine (leader of MEGADETH) on this song (Ride The Lightning) and some other tunes like Fight Fire with Fire (the acoustic intro was played all by Cliff Burton), and some sections of The Call Of Ktulu on this album.
I had that album in 1983 when I was 15. It was my absolute most favorite album.
I think you'll love Spit Out The Bone and Halo On Fire from their last album!!... Really great songs that reminisce older Metallica! 🤘🔥
Hey girl! This is a great way to spend my lunch break! Thanx!!😊💕
I think Ride the lightning is my fave Metallica album. It sounds so raw. And almost every track is a BANGER. You should do the whole album. Also There is a 10 yr old lil girl named Ellen who does an amazing bass cover of "For whom the bell tolls" you might want to react to or at the least check out on your own time @Lilly Jane Reacts
You definitely need to dive into Pantera!!!
~ Walk
~ Mouth for War
~ Cemetery Gates
~ Suicide Note 1&2
~ The Sleep
~ Slaughtered
~ War Nerve
~ Live in a Hole
~ I’m Broken
~ This Love
i love the track Escape, Trapped Under Ice ....hell the whole album is awesome
I first heard this over 35 years ago, and even though I am probably about 30 years older than you, your reaction to this song was identical to mine. I was gobsmacked and couldn't even talk during most of it, and it completely changed my attitude towards music overall.
This song!!! ❤️🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This was the first Metallica song I ever heard, in 1985. And it's still my favorite and always will be. Hearing Metallica back then was the first time I thought to myself, this is my band and my music.
I love your facial expressions when you listen. You really feel the music.
You’re always amazing!
The first four albums (Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All) you can pretty much just listen to from front to back. Also the Seattle 1989 and San Diego 1992 live shows are really awesome and are available in HD on RUclips
I keep being amazed by how young they were when they made this.
Damage Inc or Disposable Hero’s . Either one will rock your ass🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼🤘🏼
Really enjoyed this reaction!!
THE LAST TWO METALLICA'S ALBUMS (2008 AND 2016) SEEM SO MUCH TO OLD METALLICA, YOU SHOULD TAKE A LOOK TO THEM 🤘🏼🎶
In 1990, when I was a freshman at college of the Siskiyous, in Northern California, a female friend of mine, introduced me to this METALLICA SONG, IN A WAY I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET!!!
Every single song on Ride the Lighting and Master of Puppets is that "old-school Metallica" sound that you like :)
They actually played this (it’s a rarity) at the concert I went to in August
if you haven't already done it, I suggest Now That We're Dead off their Hardwired... To Self-Destruct album! its one of my favourite Metallica songs
yeah this is my fav too, nice reaction
1st song on the album called Fight Fire With Fire, For Whom The Bell Tolls, & Creeping Death are all great songs off the same album also
Fight fire with fire 🤘🏻
One of my favorite Metallica songs of all time.
It’s the album opener.
Super fast, aggressive, heavy, and LOUD!
You do the best Metallica reaction videos on the Tube. Being a teenager in the 80's, I lived, ate, drank, slept all Metallica. I cruised around in my car with my buds smokin bud everyday after school and the weekends just blasting Metallica. I remember the first songs that got me hooked were Am I Evil, Seek And Destroy, Creeping Death, and Jump In The Fire. Seek and Destroy and Disposable Heroes were the first songs I learned to play on guitar and went on to learn many more Metallica songs. Also I agree, early Metallica was the best for me as well. Really up to And Justice For All. After that I found myself skipping many songs on their future releases. Where as their earlier stuff I NEVER skipped a song.
i was 19when this aslbum came came out thanks from this
That final guitar solo always felt to me like the panic right before they throw the switch...⚡😳
my favorite song on my favorite album of Metallica ever 😍🤘
Both the albums "Ride the Lightning" and "Master of Puppets" are amazing. But I also really enjoy their 90's albums Black, Load, and the first disc of Garage Inc.
Frayed Ends of Sanity is one of my favorites. Along with Disposable Heroes and Trapped Under Ice.
This song rocks. Although it isn’t my favorite one, I still can’t help but get pumped when this song comes on.
Lilly Jane , you are correct ! The first four albums are stellar ! My fave album is And Justice For All .
Most will say Master of Puppets or Kill Em All . And they ALL kick major ass , especially when they came out ! WOW !
The whole album is awesome just listen to it all
I learned this song on bass, it’s a doozy! 💯🔥
I had the pleasure of seeing this live
With the late Cliff Burton
Check out his bass solo on Kill'em All
And also 1985 Day on the Green
For whom the bell tolls
You get to see Cliff play live
If you like old school Metallica, you really need listen and react to Whiplash!!!
I love the song "To Live is To Die" on the And Justice For All album
I am 53 and from the SF Bay Area, I saw Metallica for this album in 1985 with Death Angel and Laaz Rocket, great days!
so awesome that you like old school metallica before they became the bob rock band!!!!
Hey Lilly here’s a fun fact!! If you look at the album, notice how there’s an electric chair in the center and the lighting around it is shaped like an “M” :) for Metallica
Seek & Destroy from the 1st album is my alarm clock on my phone, wakes me up everyday ready to conquer the world 🤘
This album saved my life.
Kirk Hammett came up with the inspiration for the album title and song from a line from Stephan King's novel the Stand. One of the characters is on death row waiting to "ride the lightning" .
RTL is my all time favorite album. Revolutionary in everyway.
James has commented many times that this is his favorite album. I personally love it , but master ... hard call both are just perfection.
I remember when I was 15, 'grabbing ahold of a electric fence by accident, with both of my hands,it felt like I got slammed with a brick wall, running all the way through my arms, then into my chest. (WHAM!!!)
It's a good thing those fences are set up to turn on & off , because I was able to let go.
Speaking of letting go,I heard a real life story about some old man that was standing near an electric fence, attached to a barbwire fence, in a cow pasture,'had his grandson run up to him, telling him he had to go pee.(while holding his crotch, jumping up,and down in one spot).
The old man told his grandson to pee over there, pointing at the barbwire fence. Then his grandson dose just what he told him to do,and when he let go - he let go all over the electric fence.. The old man laughed his arse off,as his grandson ran to the house, screaming to the top of his lungs, that his grandpa made him pee on the electric fence!!
This song is underrated af! 🤘🏻
If thrash metal is something you would like to check out, here are some suggestions for bands:
1) Anthrax - hailing from NYC, they were very unique as a thrash metal band for using dark humor and often used fictional characters from comics or literature... Songs to check out - 'A.I.R.' ... 'Caught in a mosh'... 'Time'... 'Schism'.
2) Exodus - founded by Kirk Hammett (who left to join Metallica), they were all about a shredding good time... Songs to check out - 'Bonded by blood'... 'Impact is imminent'... 'Impaler'... 'Persona non grata'
3) Kreator - formed in Essen, W. Germany in the 80's, they led the German thrash metal hordes into global prominence... Check out - 'Extreme aggression'... 'When the sun burns red'... 'Violent revolution'... 'Flag of hate'
4) Slayer - hailing from California, they met Metallica in the L.A. scene in 1982, and they were a mix of punk rock and extreme thrash metal... one of the 'Big 4' of thrash metal... Check out - 'Angel of death'... 'The Antichrist'... 'War ensemble'... 'Ghosts of war'.
5) Megadeth - masterminded by Dave Mustaine after being fired from Metallica, they went through an evolution away from thrash in the 90's as well, but their early songs include - 'Wake up dead'... 'Hook in mouth'... "Devil's island" ... 'Skull beneath the skin'.
6) Manowar - technically not a thrash metal band, but they had fury in their early days... Check out the songs - 'Wheels of fire'... 'Kill with power'... 'Violence and bloodshed'... 'The demon's whip'.
7) Testament - despite having similarities to early Metallica, they were able to carve their own place in the thrash realm... Check out - 'Into the pit'... 'Over the wall'... 'Practice what you preach'... 'Trial by fire'
8) Death - formed in Florida by (the late) guitarist & vocalist Chuck Schuldiner, this band re-shaped extreme metal in the 80's and helped usher the death metal genre... Check out - 'Zombie ritual'... 'Suicide machine' ... 'Living monstrosity'... 'Pull the plug'.
Another favorite of mine: Blackened, from the …And Justice for All album
Fight Fire with Fire!!!!
You know why you like older Metallica better? Because it was definitely much better. First 4 albums for the majority of Metallica's original fans, you obviously have a good taste.
Totally agree, Totally understand.👍
2nd, 3rd, and 4th for me. KEA doesn’t hold up nearly as well, and I can’t rank it above a lot of their later stuff. I still love it, but it’s very, very basic and I think it’s quite a bit overrated.
Im one of the few that actually like Load and Reload along with the older albums. But i also Started with those before hearing the older stuff.
No its not that .. she likes the old metallica cause she had never heard about slayer...🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄
I just got into them and I like James’s high pitched voice better
Fight Fire With Fire is a good one to listen to.
Have to checkout them LIVE FROM SEATTLE 1989🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your enthusiasm for this music. My suggestion, Cemetary Gates by Pantera. The official video is pretty cool.
Spit OUT THE BONE is the newest Album, but it's old school epic!!!
This song is empathy incarnate
It’s quite literally about someone wrongly accused of a crime being sentenced to death via electric chair.
This, Master of Puppets, Enter Sandman, and For Whom the Bell Tolls are some of my favorite Metallica songs! Recently became a metal head because of these guys and Eddie Munson
Dyers Eve from And Justice For All. Emotional song about James’ childhood.
Thank you for the reaction! Not sure if you know, Dave Mustaine from Megadeth is listed in the writing credits for this song.🤘🏻
You should check songs from their Master of Pueppets album like Battery, Welcome home Sanitarium, Damage Inc or Orion
creeping death is a banger as well as fight fire with fire
A MASTERPIECE!!!💀🤘💀
You should see the videos of when they used Tesla Coils LIVE in concert. Coils. PLURAL.
they used like FOUR MASSIVE Tesla Coils. It was pretty dope.
Disposable Heroes, Damage Incorporated, Fight fire with Fire, Four Horsemen, Motorbreath
Amon amarth is a band I think you would be interested in, the songs are about Norse mythology, great lyrics, and, amazing musicians, Twilight OfThe Thunder God live is a good starting point. Really enjoy you're reactions
I highly recommend leper messiah it is an amazing song that you’d love
This one of the best album of Metallica
🤘🤘
Their first 3 albums are their best!
There is a reason they named the record after this song. Good GOD!! Hearing it again after all these years, it is blowing my mind all over again. Metallica was SO GOOD. The way that guitar solo is framed by the rhythm is freakin' amazing. There really was no band like Metallica. Another great reaction video. It is cool to listen to these songs again with someone hearing it for the first time.
Metalica's Ride The Lighting was way ahead of its time! Lilly Jane, when you get a chance listen to the entire album, you will want to own it. One song you should get a chance to listen to is Ozzy Osbourne's Suicide Solution. The most controversial Heavy Metal song of all time!
Seek and Destroy, The Four Horsemen, and Whiplash are all incredibly good songs off their first album
Since you enjoyed "For Whom the Bell Tolls" so much, you should watch the Cliff 'em All version, live from 198x-something, when Cliff Burton gets his time to shine. It's probably the best Metallica live video ever made, in my opinion. And yes, Ride the Lightning is Metallica's best album.
‘85 Cliff Em All!
0:33 this is by far a top 5 Metal Album of all time, try Kill Em All- The Four Horsemen nex time!
I’m glad you took my advice. This song, in my opinion, has Metallica’s greatest solos from the Cliff period of their career, with the possible exception of ‘Orion’ .
“Orion “ is a epic song no vocals just instrumental
They've their own unique style when it comes to structure of a song where the longer songs are more instrumental and less vocals which is awesome and we get perfect guitar solos #lillyjgang 🖤🤘
And check out the band "Ditchwater" and their song "Save Your Apologises"
If you want an instrumental. The Call of Ktulu from that same Ride The Lightning album might interest you.
There's also 2 S&M versions of that same song, both well executed.
Fight Fire with Fire is also another great one from that Album.
Creeping Death talks about liberation of slaves under the Egyptians.
You already listened to Trapped Under Ice, Fade to Black, Ride the Lightning and For Whom the Bell Tolls so that pretty much covers all the album.
The last one is Escape and my least favorite one of that Album, basically a counter to Ride the Lightning and Escaping prison before that happens.
Hauntingly still is The Call of Ktulu. You need to listen. Instrumental. You’ll love it Lilly.
HAHAHA, YEAAAAH!!
Live at Red Rocks, 88? Storm came in...
