Thank you for posting this I was worried It would be impossible to change my gear ratios on my 2016 450 sxf but your contribution will allow me to build out a do it all bike
Does anyone know if the 250 or 359 sxf from 207-18 w would either of those engines accept a wide ratio gear box? I’ve totally been searching for any info but I haven’t had luck with anyone knowing anything
Iv just had this done to my 2020 450xcf, geared down 1 tooth smaller on front and 4 teeth bigger on rear, I clocked 136kph in a grass paddock the other day, and my 16 yz450fx did 138 kph immediately after with its stock gearing. I'm happy with the ktm now with the 500exc 6th gear in it. Awesome all rounder bike now. I have rad fan on it too, and ktm husky straight shot injector top and fuel bundle on it so it doesn't stall much.
i am confirming, you added 6th to a 19+ ktm 450xcf? what are the part numbers for gears? reason i ask this question, i have my engine apart right now. if had know there was a difference would have never tore down... and the parts i have found on a few places are for pre 19 models only. the 19+ models have a updated shafts. so please let me where you got the correct gears. thank you very much in advance
If you could give me the part numbers i need id glady send you some money on paypal for your time and information. Im wanting to do my 17 450 xc the same way with possibly supermoto wheels
Did you use 6th gear from a 450exc? I have a 19 450xc and top gear is too slow, I have a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket on it to get a lower 1st gear, even still 1st gear is a bit fast, I thought if I put a exc 6th gear in it I could put a bigger sprocket on the rear to gear down 1st some more and still be faster up topend than how it is now. Another 4 teeth on the back with the exc 6th gear in it, would it be faster up topend than a stock 450xcf? So it would be geared down a total of 7and a half teeth on the back.
Gearheade30, where are you located? I have the same motor w/150 hours. I’m in CA. Any interest in doing this for me? Cost you would charge? I’ll pay shipping back to and from if you aren’t in Antarctica 😅
I am in Indiana, so shipping would likely be pretty hefty. What year is your bike? At 150 hours, it is probably due for at least a top end as well. It is a possibility but I do not have much open time on my calendar in the near term.
I used the parts fiche from the 2018 husqvarna FE450 to get the parts number, and the parts I checked seemed to also be the same as 2018+ FE501 and 500 excf. You might also want to do second gear because the wide ratio first has a pretty big gap to the motocross second gear. First gear is the expensive one, anyway.
@@gearheadE30 hello, i have a 2018 sxf that won’t go past 4th gear. Looking at your video, I’m trying to figure out what part could be broken or so for that to happen. I already removed the right side engine case, but all is good over there. Any idea? Please help
@@rutgerburke7722 hard to diagnose stuff through the internet, but I would guess bent shift fork, or a pin in the shift drum came out. I don't think KTM has had the shift drum pin problem since the early 2000s though.

Rocky Mountain atv has a video with the 6 th gear kit they sell. Seems pretty straight forward

@@stephenbledsoe6057 hi, I had 19 but now have a 20 450xc and I called proven moto and they sent me all the parts needed for the job.
I took my engine and the parts from proven moto to my mechanic and he did the job.
@@farmer3242 do you have a parts list they sent you?
Also do you know what parts cost?
Im glad that husaberg has wide ratio gears from the factory 😅

What gearing did you run for both tests? 14/48? 13/48?
13/48 for both I believe. I run 14/48 now.

just swap the first gear from EXC while you're at it
What is your top speed in 6th?
I've had it just a bit over 100 mph, but I'm sure it could go faster with a braver rider. Top speed was around 75 mph on the limiter before the swap.
@@robertrlonghurst I'm sure most good shops could figure it out the same way I did with the parts fiches, but I really don't know.

What bike do these parts come from? I have an 18 450xcf that I would like the low first gear on.

Use 500exc 6th gear
I got my parts off proven moto and my mechanic fitted them.
