    • @Jabou1
      @Jabou1 7 дней назад +8

      African music is full of spiritual and revolutionary music, you just have to search for it. Furthermore, 90% of the African revolutionary songs are sang in native languages, so we have to be very careful on how we judge or interpret the African music. I think most Caribbeans need to educate themselves about African culture, tribes and music, because they seem to judge the whole continent through afrobeats, which is very wrong and dumb at same time.

      They have forgotten themselves and their history and the role Africa played in shaping their music and culture and they have forgotten that it is from us that they came but we shall remind that if they don’t claim us - we shall claim them .
      The musical instrument in their history were brought by our ancestors stolen to the Americas .

    Point of correction both Buju and Tems went the wrong way, there is Afrobeat which was created by the Late Fela that was a genre that voiced against oppresiion just like Concious reggae which was a voice against oppresiion unlike Dancehall as the name portrays is party oriented now Afrobeats which some producers concocted by miing beats from highlife,fuji, amapiano etc is mostly party vibes song as Tems said so the difference is the s added to Afroeats. For Afrobeat Fela's kid Femi and Seun still play and released their songs these are Grammy nominated men and joining them is Femi's son Made they play pure Afrobeat which is very vocal against oppresion. So please don't confuse both of them

      Going by your logic, it’ll be safe to say that, Reggae with all its consciousness has not solved any problems either despite it been in existence for decades. Therefore it’ll be foolish to continue to remain in that real perpetually, when there are other spaces that needed to be explored to bring succor and joy to our long ailing hearts.
      Go home Buju, you are not an example for us, you sang yourself to prison for all the wrong reasons and you hates the fact that time has moved on and Afrobeats influence is palpable.

      @@KayK_Eleven It is safe to say Reggea has shown over decades how to stand up for what is right, install Dominant characteristics who are not quick to lick boots & kiss ass to impress white supremacy. Conscious reggea Music helped to pave a safe passage for early travellers to the UK when white Supremacy was at troubling levels. It created a safe space with large amounts of resistance towards those who tried to attack black people. And today Jamaicans & FBA are the only Black people in large numbers that resist White Supremacy

However after the dance is done the problem is still there so why not talk about the problem shine a light on it and pray that we can get something done about it to feel good about. Buju wasn’t saying anything bad about afrobeats he’s saying put conscious words to the beat because beat got everyone’s attention let everybody hear what’s happening in Africa because it’s important our brothers and sisters in parts of Africa need a light to shine on what they’re going through. But some people want to turn what he says into something negative. I guess that’s what the bible speaks of who have ears to hear let them hear some will get it and some just won’t Kartel nuh get it either him a talk about genre of music bag a nonsense😂😂❤️🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇺🇸

Jamaica music is reggae which includes dancehall, roots reggae and the list goes on. African produce a different type of music. Such as Afrobeats, ampiano just to name a few. There is a time and place for everything under the sun. One day we may not be here and it gonna be a different type of music all together. One thing I agree with Tems. People want music can feel good to. No music, no life bro. Music helps relief stress. I am Jamaican and I even listen to Indian music, spanish etc. Buju, dont worry. The african story was already written and its history can never be erase. even you retell it in your own words, into a song even

    I respect her answer it makes sense but maybe this can lead to more afrobeat reggae that will be a fun new wave that can join the international afrobeat scene to join the reggae festivals.

      Real meds, even if Shawn wasn't the main man or him friend. If yuh wait that long yuh can keep that especially when you know say mi nuh need yuh help and yuh actually can't help mi. That reach out didn't even mean anything, no words of encouragement, one time within 13 years and after 7 years. Keep that

    I disagree with Tems, to say that afrobeat is specifically for dancing, vibes, good times... those are the only topics afrobeat has touched on due to trend!.. but who's to say a song about struggle can't be built on an afrobeat platform ?.. you can easily say the same about dancehall music but dancehall artist for years have been using dancehall to voice all types of topics.. love, enjoyment, vibes, anger, hard times, financial/living situations etc. the list goes on.. I strongly believe that any genre can touch on just about any topic.. afrobeat is just stuck in a niche right now but they will eventually broaden their horizon
