I met Michael Schenker at NAMM in LA 1991! I told him I just wanted to meet him and shake his hand because I think he's one of the best in the world, and then I said okay I'll leave you alone now and he asked me if I knew where the Carvin display Booth was and I said yes. I ended up hanging out with Michael Schenker for about 45 minutes it was the most surreal thing just him and I walking through the Anaheim Convention Center LOL I will never forget it he was the coolest dude ever
That is an amazing story. Michael probably sensed you were low key and would not bug the crap out of him with fandom, so he hung out with you.....killer...! I was a huge Scorps and MSG fan in the 80s...great story GM !
What a brilliant man and guitar player, he was one hellacious protege. He was 25 here, how many at 25 can play like him? Also at 16 was in the process of writing some of In Trance's compositions. And now, he plays in his band Temple Of Rock and is better than ever!! And happier than he has ever been!!! Rawk our world Michael!
Michael wasn't involved with writing songs on the In Trance Scorpions record. That was 1975-76 and Michael was already way out of the Scorpions' fold. He was a full member of UFO at that point and had already recorded at least 2 records with them; Phenomenon and Force It and was beginning to work on No Heavy Petting.
UFO/Rush Winterland, San Francisco, Ca. 1977. Live 16mm B/W footage. I was 18yo. Phenomenal performance. Amazing night of music, fantastic guitar playing. Never again. RIP
+moonbaby1962 Yes ur right Moon, he is not faking that accent....he picked it up from living in the UK, much like we would pick up the Southern accent if we lived in Georgia. Matthias Jabs has an accent of other variations besides German cuz he speaks French and Spanish. I have heard from fans from those countries that they can hear their accents in Matthias and that it sounds funny cuz of the mixture. LOL
If you listen closely he has a bit of a cockney accent in this interview. That's probably because at the time of this interview in 1980, it had only been 6 years since he learned english and he learned it from conversing with his UFO bandmates like Pete Way and playing A LOT of clubs and venues in England early on.
@@stevenpierce8331 Yes. I'm sure that's because during that time period they were constantly playing in England so he probably didn't get back to Germany much. After UFO, I'm sure he moved back to Germany which is why his accent started sounding more German again. My mother in law is German and has been here in America now for 56 years but she still has her thick Bavarian accent.
First time i seen ufo was at a place called the goldenwest ballroom vanhalen opened. It was a crazy night! Im a huge schenker fan but that night eddie was on fire. Eddie almost lost his life that night he overdosed. I watched them load him in the ambulance. This place was 15 min from my house. Met randy rhoads there in 79 my friends bands were opening
The tips are nearly 30 years ago ! I can see that a lot of 80s rock players copied a lot from Michael - the whole pedal tone thing especially which he was using with UFO even
This is a different Studio version of Lights Out not on the original album or on the Strangers in the Night live Album! is from a BBC UFO The Archives Series!
There are none videos of this live clip on YT so far, & I know it has to be on a volt full of dust, what a shame , if the Japanese company could just release the One Night at Budokan on DVD, this will be around that time of this clip at 15:50-13:06 is not this one exactly, I can tell is not the One Night at Budokan but is the right year! thank you for comment & tuning in! the solo is from Lost Horizon & could be in Japan or UK!
What a shame, I really liked the tone he got going in the solo, perhaps in the future we will get to see the clips used in this interview on RUclips, thank you for your quick reply and for wanting to help me out, I really appreciated it and I will keep mining, who knows. (:
he kinda sounds like a german who has hung around the east end ...few little inflections here and there - i suppose he was in a groups with lots of englishmen ...strangely though ,in recent interviews ...he sounds more german again {not that theres anything wrong with that } .....some of my best friends are german ..just dont mention the war .
This exact thing happened to me. When I was in nursing school, back in Germany, I sounded very German. When I went to the flight school in the US, my English became way more Americanized. Finally, coming to live in Seattle, after years of living and flying in and out into Germany, I have a German accent again and I cannot get rid of it, to save my life.
@SpitMucus69 Is called " WALK THE STAGE " from BUILT TO DESTROY Album ( US Version) & on UK Version is called "ROCK WILL NEVER DIE " I posted both versions!
Can someone please tell me where the solo right at the beginning of this video is from? Sounds slightly different to the Strangers In The Night version to me.
Believe me mate, if get my hands on those clips,,, I will post them so you can check them out before all those Copyrighters get to me & block them!!! ;)...
I wonder what solo it is from 12:50 - 13:06 and from what concert? I've been RUclips searching like mad but haven't been able to find the clip we see here in the interview. If anyone knows please let me know, I would appreciate it. Thanks for sharing these clips. (:
@TRELOKAMPERI Is called LOST HORIZON click on my front page & type right hand side on my Video seach box & is all full songs at different years! mant thnx for tuning in & comment!
@MetallicBill Keep in mind these tips he gives was 20 years ago! I posted a video of an interview with Contraband but is probably different from what you have ! To me this whole complete video was not so instructional at all! I just picked the Schenker parts only!!
AXEFLYERFV I thought the complete video was fantastic. It was from around 1984 I think when I bought it and is a good starter video all about playing electric guitar and even stated that it wasn’t the usual guitar tutor, but gave enough flavor of the instrument at large and who does what and how to do it etc. Really interesting actually. The Schenker parts were my favorite parts too.
Hello 👋 belia How're you doing, it's been a long journey, and I'm nothing without amazing fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness, All love to you and yours ❤️
is from a tape of a lot of guitarrists.........I TOUGHT that probably schenker do that lost horizon for that tape interview Michael Schenker Guitar Interview from early '80s is close to the complete ending solo
right u r - he does sound cockney, and it's funny coz if u listen 2 him talk 2day, he basically sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger, english with a strong german accent. he somehow lost his cockney between this interview (1980) and today
I'm sorry, but your comment makes no sense. First of all it would be an English accent not a "British" accent (Britain includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Furthermore, how is he "affecting" the accent ? He is a German person speaking English...are you suggesting he should speak English with some accent other than English ? He speaks it that way because he was living in London and spending his time with the members of UFO who were all English.
Taz Taylor Blah Blah Blah- it's a practice in semantics- British Isles, accent. The guy is a kraut. He sound like a brit- get past the semantics or take your strudel and go teach at University.
vidstar7 You're funny, but my point was simply that he learned to speak English whilst living in England and whilst a member of an English band. What accent would you expect him to speak with. He learned the language from listening to it being spoken by others around him. It really is that simple.
Mark- You sound troubled. Let me assure you.Your Homo-erotic fascination with Michael Schenker is nothing to be ashamed of! And you can very easily release all that pent up anger by just accepting and embracing your true nature. Perhaps you could even contact Michael and willingly offer yourself as his witless dumbstruck sex puppet. Although, he may not be in to that sort of thing- I do however empathize with your predicament. Naturally, it would have been easier on all of us, if you simply fell in love with Liberace instead- but alas, we invariably have no control over these matters.
Ahahah, he should try to have a german accent while speaking english? actually to speak well any language you have to learn their accent at best. Nice trolling.
I met Michael Schenker at NAMM in LA 1991! That's class - that must be his character, as he played at a local concert near me and another guy said he chatted with him after the gig :)
When he had that haircut, he was probably the coolest rock guitarist on the planet! What a player he was, and still is.
really.... the mullet......... -.-"
@@jazztom86 Yes. It rules.
Best there is,was and ever will be
Wonderful. My guitar hero. I also appreciate the Swedish subtitles!
Michael makes simple scales sound musical. Unbelievable talent
Some people just don't learn, well, what can you do!
Thank you for enjoying the videos & Schenker's music!
great day or evening! :)

he didnt wrote any of in trance's compositions , these are Uli's work.. He co wrote some tracks in Fly to the Rainbow

Cristy , I think you are thinking of the Scorpions' Lonesome Crow record where Michael Schenker was 16, not In Trance.
A Guitar God

That is why we like him so much, pure and honest playing, unadultered.
Michael kikked very serious butt with UFO & Early MSG .. was mind blowing
this is so inspiring
He learned to speak English while playing in UFO and living in the UK. He learned from Brits. I think the sound is natural.
+moonbaby1962 Yes ur right Moon, he is not faking that accent....he picked it up from living in the UK, much like we would pick up the Southern accent if we lived in Georgia. I noticed and bit of Brit accent and thought it was just me. Then read your comment. Thanks for the info.
And the rest is history (still in the making)...🤔👍🎶
Michael Schenker is God!!
He is the King of hard and metal!

That must be a great problem to have---not knowing what you played...& playing like a legend!
Yeah, I agree with you on that!
@RayTheGuitar This is from UFO BBC IN SESSION & LIVE IN CONCERT!
It has to be between 1981/82!
6:12 only downpicking at that tempo and doing is fluently is way harder than it seems
Ignore him, he was referring to himself!
He wanted to let anybody know he feels free now,, LMAO!!
สุดยอดมาก
Hey!
It is good.
Michael is using the side of the pick. The thumb is hit too.
Thank you AXE! Madaxeman ichiban!! hahaha
Fuckin Mike. Just kills it.
Where is the 'Lights Out' (Beginning )Track from ???
Never heard this version before !
Am dime a dozen, lol!!! thank you kindly!!
great!!
Kind of a Keith Richards accent there. Anybody know the recording year of the opening Lights Out version?
Why does this video keep showing subliminal flashes of Ron Wood???
Ron kept appearing as he was trying to steal Michael's drugs.
This was just after his second stint with the Scorpions
tought ...is the best lost horizons version, the most sick played of that song by schenker
Кстати, он здесь некоторым отвечает сам, видел ли это кто- нибудь?
