Crazy how much you have to do just to switch side mirrors!
I know right?! Unbelievable. Can't see how they can't make it to where you pop off one little panel, and right behind it you have your mounting screws and plug harness. Dreading having to do this on my work truck because it never goes as smoothly as these videos lol.

thank you for the video definitely helped me out a lot. Install was quick and easy. I bought these mirrors and replaced the small powerfold mirrors I had so I had to hard wire the spotlight and the running lights but that was a piece of cake and the mirrors came with all the wiring I needed to accomplish this. Thanks again.

Alright so which tow mirrors for a 14 Silverado 1500 LTZ with blinker, auto dimming, power adjust, reverse tilt, power fold, temp sense, chrome? And if you could point me in the right direction for wiring the cargo and running lights, that'd be great!
Thanks for this video. It made installation of my mirrors actually easy.
I was able to install the tow mirrors on my 2016 Chevy Silverado LT Extended Cab(53) Z71 using this video (Thank you 1A Auto Parts), but I also replaced the wiring harness in both doors as it states in GM's installation document 4174686, which I highly recommend referencing. It was fairly easy to replace the wire harness once I took the door skin off and removed the speaker in the door. You have to find the RPO (these 3-digit codes are in the glove box. Mine is DL8.) and cross reference them with the document to know which wiring harnesses you need. My test harnesses are 84290984 and 84290964 (replaces 23171572 and 23171566). It's well worth the $70 each. According to the document, my truck didn't need re-calibration. One important note is that the 2 white leds on the mirror for my truck are not reverse lights, but cargo lights, so when I press the cargo light button on my center console, they turn on and off.

Wish I could upgrade my 2015 Sierra 1500 double cab V8 from manual to power mirrors. it has power windows and door locks. One of the very few I've seen without power mirrors. I wonder what kind of wiring harness it has inside the doors? Probably just go with manual TOW mirrors soon.

Goodness. There's 2 bolts and a couple metal clips on my 02 Tahoe door and it stays on just fine. Helluvalot easier to service that way.
Spencer D Yeah, but you're talking about a 15 year old truck vs a 1 year old truck. Don't get me wrong I love the older Tahoes and Yukons but I wouldn't give up my new Silverado for one...
I kinda prefer a simpler or older truck over a newer truck. I replaced the mirrors on my 01 no problem. Didn't have to remove the door panel. My 09 I think I'll just take to the shop. But I do love my 09 Silverado.
Yeah, my 85 f250 only had one screw and looped duct tape holding it in. So much easier to service... but doesnt look as modern or nicely refined as my 15 Silverado
I have a 2014 Silverado Iam adding tow mirrors to I didn’t have signals in the mirrors before. Is my truck wired for those to work if I change the door harness?
Can the mirror be install on either side of the truck so the convex is on top instead of the bottom

Wish it was like my Volvo just pop the triangle piece off take out tree screws unclip the wires pop the new one in snap the wires in screw it down and pop the cover back on😂 takes less than 2 minutes. Oh well time to get to work 😅

My 2015 does not have the tow mirrors, does the mirror control module have to be replaced or is only one mirror controlable from inside and the others are just manually adjusted from inside?
So question i have the 2018 silverado 1500 Z71 and my mirrors are power adjusting only. Can i install the tow mirrors with the turn running light and rear facing led on my truck? Is it just a plug and play or do i need a whole new harness? Thank you in advance

When using these type of mirrors, does the mirror retraction button still operate them as normal? Or do only some styles do that and I need to be specific when ordering?

If you're going from the off-road mirror Chevrolet to the towing mirror on Chevrolet you'll notice that the right side of most of the brands I found the matter of fact I have not found a brand yet that is it right but the pitch of the mirror is such it's in the casting not in the actual glass cuz the glass is tilted all the way in my wife is a short person cannot stretch back for the enough to use the right mirror so beware of that
So u didnt bother to wiring running lts., cargo lt or heated functions up for mirror ?

tow mirrors come with different options (power defrost, turn signal, power extension/folding) how would you know if the mirrors you are buying are supported by your vehicle?

1A Auto Parts my truck is a 2007 GMC sierra SLE (new body style) crew cab, it has power mirrors and i believe defrost as well but no factory turn signal, as far as RPO numbers i got ( DF5, DH6, DK8, DL8) i called the dealership and they said that i could install power tow mirrors with turn signal but they wanted something like $600 for them lol

I have a 2017 GMC sierra SLT all terrain with all the options like power folding and heated mirrors and turn signal and puddle light. Now my question is can I buy tow mirrors that have all the same options will it just plug right in to original harness??

How do you get the backup lights on the mirrors get to work? I was looking for the reverse wire under the dash but can't seem to find it.

+Scott Made In America Mirrors need to replaced in a feature-for-feature basis, so if you get some with additional features you will need to wire them up. Some of our mirrors do come with additional wiring for upgrades, but it needs to state in the listing that it comes with it. 1aauto.com

Nope, not typically. If you buy a tow mirror designed for your truck, it'll have a wiring harness that's meant to clip right into the existing harness on your vehicle. Have a 14 Silverado LT. heated mirrors. Manual fold. Power adjustable. Would the turn signal lights on these tow mirrors work? I don’t have lights on the stock mirrors.
I just did this upgrade to my own truck. I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 LT that had standard mirrors with defrost, power adjust and manual fold. You will need to buy the RZY jumper harness (GM Part# 23387133) and additional wiring changes made to the door harness in order to get the turn signals and other functions to work.

Great instructional video! Question: I have a 2015 HD Silverado. It came with all black, rounded looking tow mirrors, which are manual fold, electric adjustable, with a turn signal in the mirror. I want to replace them with the tow mirrors shown in this video. Can I plug therm in and expect the white led lights to work, or are there any extra steps to get those lights to work. Unreal..why couldn't the design engineer just make a pop-off access panel to access the mirror nuts instead of requiring that the entire door skin be removed? That'd be the kind of engineering I could live with.

1A Auto Parts i installed tow mirrors on my 2015 z71 Lt that I got from GM, but the originalmirrors did not have power fold or turn signals but the new tow mirrors do. Is there a way that I can make the turn signals work?
The turn signals should already be wired in just plug and they work. Did you connect the wires where the old mirrors were? Mine did not have turn signals and I upgraded to mirrors that did and they work

I see...but this is different...the frame of the mirror was angled tighter to door....either side were not symmetrical to one another in relation to truck....example...in operating position like our ears to our head....one side was sticking outward and the other side was closer....

Im looking on the website and im not sure which set of tow mirrors too buy that are power fold and with puddle lights and the rest of the accessories. Could you point me in the right direction? With 2017 Silverados and Sierras out for a year now how can you not have the mirrors rated for them. With GM it appears the fit for a 2016 and 2017 are the same. What gives????

And there is nothing from this company on the specific model for a 2017 Tahoe….There’s one for Chevrolet trucks, but not one for the Tahoe that covers the part I bought. Called customer service and they said the same thing….go find it on line your self.
There is one that is made by a competitor that includes all wiring though…..maybe the exact same part, but their customer service seems a lot more helpful and better prepared to help.
