Hi Ant, great video, but I wonder if you could double or triple the logs on the bed to lessen the number of cuts you make? OK, I know that would be much harder to push, and put more stress on the blade, but productivity would be greatly improved - maybe rig up a winch to move the mill along the bed, like Matt Cremona has? Looking forward to see what you have planned for all that lumber!
I just saw this video and loved it. I have not seen all of your videos yet and do not know (yet) if you have since built a new no-name-log-deck-thing already, but hearing how you want to save space and not have it in your way when you are not using the sawmill, how about making the new deck from metal and 'folding' it in half? So for example if the deck is 6 meters from the sawmill rails to the danger posts, then cut the rails at 3 meters and connect them with hinges. You can then fold the deck over onto itself and either use it at 3 meters width for smaller quick saw jobs or fold it out to 6 meters when you have a bigger job with more logs. You can also mount the front end of the deck (close to the saw mill) on metal rollers that are fixed to the ground and you can then lift the end at the danger posts with the bobcat to push the whole deck like a drawer on a cabinet into the sawmill building, over the saw mill rails and get it completely out of the way.
When are you going to do some more yard work behind the house by the creek with those boulders my friend? Just asking Andris, I like that kind of stuff when you’re operating the excavator and skid steer and have you seen what Diesel Creek Matt is building? His new shop and it’s going to be nice for him, he’s always working on equipment in the dirt or mud so no more of that brother and check out his tracks on his Bobcat skid steer! Be safe my friend and great to see you my brother! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
The ability to process your own lumber from logs is awesome. With the price of lumber these days, you saved $1000s of dollars from having to purchase it. Do you do anything with the scrap/saw dust? I’ve always wanted to use a wood pellet machine to make wood burning pellets for cook stoves.
Hi there saw your question on how to secure muffler on homemade wood mizer, I thought maybe you could try double nutting and using red lock tight. Good job on your engineering.
I know you said you had gone through many logs with one blade in the past but dammmmmnnnnn that many logs is just insane on one blade. I wonder if it has anything to do with the type of trees and the size of them, either ways it's impressive. You've got to get the next video out so we can see what your gonna do with all that timber. Hello and thanks for your input ! Sorry to hear about your drought situation. The hobbit hole is a root cellar 👍 i am also planning to renovate that one aftee the cottage is finished. I did some review video of that root cellar last year.
I find it interesting that you use both "metric " designations like mm, centimeters and kilometers when referring to the size of things, and then sometimes you use "standard/SAE/American" sizes on other occasions like inches, feet, and miles. Maybe I'm just a naïve American who doesn't know any better. Maybe this is normal in other parts of the world, like I said I'm a dumb American. I find it interesting and commend you for your vast knowledge of everything. Keep up the good hard work. Love your videos and sense of humor.
Thanks Dave, yeah it's very odd to me as well. We use mostly imperial on hoses like hydraulic and water pipes, also fittings for them, but everything else is in metric. IT's very confusing
most of Europe started out using imperial measurements centuries ago. I am from Germany originally and like Ants mentioned, plumbing and some other trades still use imperial which is the american version of old European measurements (Zoll in Germany which is an Inch for example). Europe switched to metric on most measurements eventually, but American engineering has been stubborn in fighting the switch for decades (other than the US Government) and will probably never switch to the much easier and more precise (in my opinion) metric system.
Interesting video; good to get all those logs processed - such a big job. The saw is holding out well. Any good use for all that sawdust? Maybe fuel or animal bedding?
Great video Andris the sawmills working well. I'm looking to upgrade mine but just havnt had the time work is crazy at the minute. Where did you get the blade guides? 👏👌👍
Good stuff this video about other stuff, totally cool. Obviously with your passion for cutting stuff you should use this timber for building five more woodsheds. that'd be handy eh. What ever happened to all that white stuff you had at your place? cheers.
Very impressive blade sharpness (not so much fatigue life though!). I wonder if the short life is common to all small sawmills, or if the design of your machine breaks them more than normal. Obviously the fatigue failure from flexing is made worse by tight bend radius, maybe the small blade guide bearings pushing down on the blade make it break faster? Or it could just be cheap metal in the blade... But one blade failure in a week of cutting isn't too bad going, all things considered :)
Yeah maybe. Originally i thought its because of too fast blade speed, but that wasent it, might try to readjust the guides. The blades are around 15-20€ a pop so currently i aint complaining ☺
You can also buy a product called a "fogger" that is sold by small engine manufacturers that will add oil to the upper cylinder for long-term storage. Snowmobile and outboard engines are common places where these are used.
I would prefer spruce or pine but i dont have too many of said trees. Gotta use what i have 😅 ill make thick post material out of alder or birch and also live edge boards
Добрый день Антс, видео очень классное рад тебя видеть опять, я заметил что калесо накатором находится блейд оно не оценрованно играет может и за этого ломает блейд,удачи тебе и крепкого здоровья.
Those engines are only imported by Polish companies, engines itself are made by little chinese hands ;) I'm planning to build this kind of mill for myself, but I have too much on my platter right now :)
Can that log cutting machine cut from the other end as well if it had a dubble edge blade...in that way you cut from both ends instead of pushing back the machine from the start just to do one cut only. Safes time (half the time it takes for one cut at a time) and labour and wear and tear
Really enjoy your humor. It's not easy to make me laugh but you seem to make it easy. Loved your Christmas tree build. I've never seen anyone go through so much trouble to put up a tree. I don't like people who just throw them away. They could at least take them to a lake and and give the fish a place to play. Also. You are the hardest working guy on the planet bringing a 150 year old house back to perfection. By the way, what's your name? Just curious. I think your Bobcat would move your snow easier. Thanks for all the great content, and I've never been on a zip line. Tried building one when I was 8. Thanks for the ride!!!
I suggest double nuts. First nut to tighten the item, second nut jammed against the first nut to prevent it from coming loose. Or nylon nuts that grab the bolts might work too.
Ants your multiple screwing sequences in high speed are done so completely without quitting, that it is inspirational. Makes me wish I had that kind of stick to it tiv. Europe switched to metric on most measurements eventually, but American engineering has been stubborn in fighting the switch for decades (other than the US Government) and will probably never switch to the much easier and more precise (in my opinion) metric system.
"NO NAME LOGTHNg"
Couldn't be more proud
Lol 😂
Interesting video; good to get all those logs processed - such a big job. The saw is holding out well. Any good use for all that sawdust? Maybe fuel or animal bedding?
i let the women use the sawdust for their garder projects
Great video Andris the sawmills working well. I'm looking to upgrade mine but just havnt had the time work is crazy at the minute. Where did you get the blade guides? 👏👌👍
Behind some corner from the same shady dealer who supplied me with them shady blades 😂, if i recall they were about 35€ each
Good stuff this video about other stuff, totally cool. Obviously with your passion for cutting stuff you should use this timber for building five more woodsheds. that'd be handy eh. What ever happened to all that white stuff you had at your place? cheers.
It didnt pay rent i was forced to remove it from the property 😁
Wow! So much timber Andris…..you can build anything…..
Hehe
I always run out
And yes, putting oil in engine saves piston rings from stucking and cylinder from coroding :)
👍
You can also buy a product called a "fogger" that is sold by small engine manufacturers that will add oil to the upper cylinder for long-term storage. Snowmobile and outboard engines are common places where these are used.
What are you going to use those birch boards for? Over here the construction wood is 100% pine or spruce.
I would prefer spruce or pine but i dont have too many of said trees. Gotta use what i have 😅 ill make thick post material out of alder or birch and also live edge boards
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼
Did you calculate how far you walked during this epic milling session?
To the moon and back. 17 times
Aitäh very nice video and nice job done !
☺👍
Hallo ein tolles Video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️
☺👍
Run a jam nut on the muffler studs.
Добрый день Антс, видео очень классное рад тебя видеть опять, я заметил что калесо накатором находится блейд оно не оценрованно играет может и за этого ломает блейд,удачи тебе и крепкого здоровья.
👍
Nice looking lumber you get from the great sawmill. Do you harvest the timber from close by? Thanks for the good video.
Thanks. Yeah i do. 😁 No problem thanks for watching
31:24 Do you own an injet printer....Same thing.
i see
I think I just heard you say that you constructed that sawmill❓😳😳
Yes!
ant put locktight on the bolts
I switched to a 10 degree blade and I didn’t loose any speed but the finished product was much nicer
Okey. That's good to know. Ill maybe try it out also
Those engines are only imported by Polish companies, engines itself are made by little chinese hands ;) I'm planning to build this kind of mill for myself, but I have too much on my platter right now :)
Good to know. Thanks for the info 👍
Can that log cutting machine cut from the other end as well if it had a dubble edge blade...in that way you cut from both ends instead of pushing back the machine from the start just to do one cut only. Safes time (half the time it takes for one cut at a time) and labour and wear and tear
Nah it wont work like that it need a solid backwall to make sure the blade is not pushed off the wheels. Like the guide bearings have
@@Ants_Pants ah yes that makes good sense. Thank you for the feedback sir
Double star washers??
Maybe
Many people do not understand how much toil you go through and what is involved in producing all this footage . Go man go!!!!. I am happy I found your channel
.....and if you stuff some stuff into other stuff..then you have stuffed stuff!!
🤔😂😂😂
lol cool idea. should of named the video. Employee of the month. lol
😂😂👍
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
47 logs on one band, how many times did you sharpen it?
Zero 😂
@@Ants_Pants Yes, I saw that! its crazy a wall hanger for sure. How was the quality of the cut toward the end?
@@timberdoodles4647 it was harder to push and the bandsaw started waveing when going through knots in the wood
@@Ants_Pants My mill is powered by hydraulics, I can hear the dull band. I really like the power washing it must help. Who makes the bands you were using? Good content it keeps one engaged.
@@timberdoodles4647 idk man i buy my bands from a shady dude behind the corner 😂😂😂 they seem to last okey
I finally figured out what Ants Pants is all about: This is a comedy channel. Quit funny.
🤔😂 it sort of happend
Ok I haven’t been a subscriber very long but I’m sold I enjoy this channel. Now I’m wanting to move to Estonia so we can hang out you got any extra land?
🤔🤣 Nobody on earth has any extra land that they don't need lol
Why do you spray the logs before you cut them? Just to clean them?
Yeah. Blade will last a lot longer
You may have tried this...Add some dish washing detergent to the water on your mill.
So far iv added winscreen washer fluid. The winter stuff that does not freeze
@@Ants_Pants I understand soap reduces friction somewhat and extends the blade life. Idk if this is fact or fiction....LOL
@@kcraig51 its true i think best fluid would be diesel fuel but considering the price of that 😆 would be able to afford a new sawmill after a season
Look on the Utube channel, MartyT and see his homemade sawmill! It’s really cool and cuts finished boards in one cut after squaring the log, it’s really cool plus watch it because he can fix anything Andris! He lives in the mountains of Australia or a country over that way brother! Double nut the muffler brother and that should help! Try to put more coolant to your blade some way!
Beware of the woodpickers !
Maaaan, where do you get your energy from? One man logging company
Hahaha 😂
Äge video, äge teema.
Kiidan.

Ohh
Two poor village carpenters are walking along a city street...
They see a beautiful new chainsaw on the balcony of the 2nd floor...
One stays on the lookout, the other climbs up the balcony behind her...
A policeman approaches the bottom one:
- Why are you standing here, man?
- Yes, here - (pointing to the second one) - we hang gifts for the New Year for city people...
- So now it's still June yet!
- Yes? Andris! Take off the chainsaw and get off, idiot! I told you that the New Year is in winter!.... :D
Oh crap 😂
With a title like that how could I refuse 🤷
i bet it smells wonderful when ur cutting! just plz no snappy, clappy, smacky music like the first montage. Sounds like someone smackin gum. hate that. otherwise great video! thanks for sharing
Gotcha!
what are you gonna build from that bud seems a bit much just for piling it hahahahaha
Gonna use some for cabin others idk yet 🤔😅
it's only boaring for you :)
Lol true
