Just a little information about warranties for exterior wall systems. If you unfortunately ever have to deal with a failed exterior sheathing wall issue and you look to submit a warranty claim, you will not be able to receive the warranty claim acceptance. Manufacturers are very clear, for good reason, that you must utilize all the approved products in their system. Mixing materials from other manufacturers will void the warranty for the sheathing panel weather barrier. I work in the commercial construction industry and have used similar systems. To receive warranty certificates for these product installs there are certified inspectors for your area. They would come out and inspect the install and certify the installation is done correctly. Most local jurisdiction inspectors don’t know enough about this process and will generally approve how you installed already. Here’s hoping you don’t have to make a sheathing warranty claim. I’ve been in the industry for a long time and I would say the likelihood of you having an issue is small.
Not particularly true. We are on 5 acres in Bend Oregon and the only building they can do is single family house. We paid 650k for our 2500qft house, 5 acres, private well, and 40x60 insulated metal shop that’s completely finished inside. His house has to be worth 700-900k he could sell it and get something way more private. But being near good schools and jobs has value too. I feel bad for him as he has an amazing view now. Situation sucks.

If you’re there during the inspection and they are decent inspectors, usually if you can show them you have the stuff or it’s a simple fix/why it’s not done they will pass you. Again not always, and the inspector has to be a decent person.
For sure! They will confirm you know how to fix them and usually pass you! When nobody is there to welcome the inspector and see all the issues, they get the feeling that you don’t care enough to make time for them and they’ll be much more strict.
@@ehhehh4049 neither. It is the Govt. red tape he needs to wait on. You can only go so far until they need to inspect. And they are in nooo hurry to come out to do such.
plus it is good to always leave them something easy to spot. Because once they find something, they are happy and will not look so hard afterwards. This is proven.
The Forcefield "Yellow" tape has even a shorter exposure limit. And that's the problem, The tapes flat out say "normal weather" with 3 to 6 months of exposure to the elements. Texas weather isn't normal so it aged. And the Zip Tape will have the same problem 180 day maximum exposure. So if you don't want the Zip tape to go the same way as the Forcefield, you'll need to have your siding up within 6 months. Of course, you don't actually have the Zip tape exposure guaranty because you applied it to Forcefield panelling instead of Zip panels.
Prosoco’s products are just as good as zip fast flash for like $30 a tube instead of $50. Won’t see those at Lowe’s or Home Depot though I don’t think.
Should have used the Yellow tape from GP i did my 40x40x13 shop and they say to use yellow on roof and grey on walls i used yellow everywhere and has held great...the grey is to thin and sucks
That they let you cover the edge nailing with tape in a high wind load area is so odd. We require roof and sheathing nailing inspections, especially on shear panels, before covering.
There’s no way the spec on that product says it’s ok to leave uncovered for. 6 months. I’m sure the product could’ve been ok over zip system for this application if exterior finishes were done correctly
@ yeah that’s fair. He’s a DIYer and doing a pretty darned good job considering that. I don’t blame him for a second for this mispronunciation. There are thousands of terms related to construction, so I hope nobody was thinking I was doing anything but informing.
Prob to late for this, but show us a video of you kicking in that side door before you replace it. Agreed, you need a better secure door on that side, because with 4K homes being built, the crime will increase.
Hope your prepared for 10 years of hearing nothing but back up beepers once construction starts. And a ton of dust flying around. Your going to have to power wash your garage and house every year if you want to keep it looking good.
Yep, was wondering how long before your weather sealing went bad. Kind of like the difference Typar and Tyvek house wrap. Go with the cheaper if your going to cover in a month.
Can? Yes. Who's gonna stop you. Should? No comment. But equally, what else are you gonna do? Removing the GP tape damages the WRB on the GP product. It also looks like the zip tape is wider than the GP tape, so it is still making contact with the GP WRB.
uv does a number on that tape and barriers, that's why it's best to put siding on asap to protect them.

Glad your staying. Nowadays no matter where you move, development will follow. Wise decision👍👍

buying land next to state game lands is a better guarantee than farmland is these days.

Welcome to the build show 🤝
Remove the hinge pins on out swing doors for easy entry……….
most outswinging doors have locking pins already.
Putting good over bad tape? You are sticking good tape over flakey old tape and hoping it doesn’t fall off. Me thinks that ain’t no good.
New tape is wider.
@@jayburris6252 wider but also that means more than half is stuck to nothing but falling off tape
@HerbaceousM8 assuming he gets the brick on anytime soon it won't matter.
You are killing it. It really is looking great... outstanding job 👏 👌
Installing a security door in a plywood shed lol
true, but it will be brick / stone on outside. It is not like most vinyl siding homes where it is easier to break thru a wall than it is the door.
Finally another shop video
Did he run out of money or time? Feels like the project has stagnated.
@@ehhehh4049 neither. It is the Govt. red tape he needs to wait on. You can only go so far until they need to inspect. And they are in nooo hurry to come out to do such.
well done. no worries about not passing your inspection, it's always the small stuff you forget the first few times.

you need to work bottom up for weatherproofing tapes... you missed a side. Started middle up.
It doesn't matter with zip tape, as long as you follow the 1" overlap requirement.
(this is from huber's own installation documentation)
Matt knows best.
1:26 the building withstood a tornado that didn’t hit the building lol

Doing great!!

Will new tape over bad tape adhere long term?
So putting a new good tape over the old half broken, that will not give you a good ground for it to stick 😕
GP’s product Isn’t the issue.. the fact you haven’t done the facade in 90 days of putting it up is!
Get that stone up!
He knows that.
What about the bottom of the window 🪟🤔
Now it's the zit building 😂 lol
M.I.T.M. (Matt is the man!)
Not a good idea to have an out swinging exterior door. Easy to pop those pins and break in.

Product is failing because of UV, not bcuz of the weather (i dont see water damage). ZIP will also fail after 1 year from UV.
WWMRDOTBS is how I do pretty much any renovation.
Come on retape the grade board as well.
Lin-til not Line-til

It’s not the products fault. You need siding and stone work months ago.
Now sheath it so the zip tape doesn't wear out as well.
Hi Chad 🤘🏼
It’s not the tape it’s because you are taking to long to put the siding on
it’s something he said several times in the video lol
he cant help the inspections take so long to get completed.
Prob to late for this, but show us a video of you kicking in that side door before you replace it. Agreed, you need a better secure door on that side, because with 4K homes being built, the crime will increase.
Let me ask you this , did you roll the tape the first time ?
rolled or not, poor quality tape is poor quality tape. It would of made no difference.
Cool 😎 !
I'd send a photo of the brick on the house to Acme Brick. They are one of the largest brick suppliers in Texas.
Wile E Coyote used Acme all the time to catch the roadrunner.

For your first build and only had 1 failed inspection your doing great. BTW.. it’s pronounced “ Len- till”! 😅
6 months? Our suppliers tell us not to leave zip on for more than 90 days.
ACME brick.
