I remembered this song as being by the Supremes. But I didn’t realize it wasn’t Diana Ross singing at the time. Then I found it it came out in 70’s after DRoss had gone solo. But it sounded so similar to her.

+Franklin NJ I challenge anyone to give a logical reason why rap music can't be as good, to hate a genre that impactful is as bias as it is thoughtless. For the record hip-hop is one of the few genres that even keep this kind of quality music alive through sampling. Don't have different forms of creativity and free speech, all kinds are great!

Another thing about this record: Notice how as Motown production reached perfection, you hear nothing but music. Every space in the background has sound, some subtle some louder, all driving the melody along. It's a "wall of sound" but not like Phil Spector's. It''s somewhat subtle. But this is what Motown records was about all along, making records you simply could not resist loving.

This piece is one of the most powerful among the zillions made by Motown. "Pray for peace" is in the lyrics, made in 70. I was 12, the country's soul was being torn apart by Vietnam.. This is a holy song.

This really is a gem, I keep coming back and watching it again and again. I remember Soul Train, but being a gangly white kid I , or I should say my older sister mostly watched American Bandstand, and by the 70s I was much too busy being a teenager to sit still more than a few minutes at a time. Thats why these youtube vids are so much appreciated, now I can catch up on everything I missed out on! Ms Mary Wilson is so alive in this and Ms Terrel is just excellent!!!
