A very well explained video. Question, does the "Lumity" range work with the phonak remote control as well as the Phonak app? When I'm driving, if I have a sudden need for a volume change I can't use the app, I'm also arthritic so manual behind the ear adjustment is out for me.
What do you think about the otc hearing aids available at Walmart? I bought blaids phantom ric, not too sure how it compares with the phonax and whether i should I return it
Hi, I haven't tried them yet, but they seem to be a low-cost OTC hearing aid like many on the market (even with their nice technical specs). Compared to the Phonak All-Day Clear I'd rather go for the Phonaks for some reasons (beside the sound quality because I don't know how they sound): - Rechargeable (the Blaids need size 10 batteries. These are the smallest hearing aid batteries and you'll need to replace them avery 3-4 days) - Phone Calls (the Phonak devices feature hands-free phone calls. It doesn't seem that the Blaids have that feature) - Feedback cancellation (that's an issue with most OTC hearing aids) Of course, the huge upside of the Blaids is their price. But if you're willing to pay more for the Phonak devices you'll probably get more for your ears. Best, Dave

However, these benefits depend greatly on the type and severity of your hearing loss as well as the ear piece you're using (you can hear the differences better with a closed custom-made earmold, while there are hardly any differences hearable when using an open dome.) Often it comes down to the situations you're in most of the time. The more communication with groups of people, driving in your car or listening to speakers at big conventions, the more the 90s will benefit you. Best way to find out would be working together with an audiologist. There are trial hearing aids that can get programmed to sound like a 70 or 90 device - we use them too for our hearing aid trials. Talk to your hearing professional, he/she might be able to help here. Because you need to decide if you get an extra benefit for your extra bucks. Hope that helps. Best, Dave

The rechargeable battery should still bring you through the day after 3 years. It is important to have a least three years warranty with these devices, so Phonak will replace them free of charge if the battery life should come to an end. Best, Dave

18 hours is not much. After 2-3 years it probably won't be sufficient for a full day...
