another MotorHead banger is "No Voices In The Sky"..............Yes that was the bass.....Lemmy is the man who sings and plays bass R.I.P. great vid guys!!
Not quite. I saw them in Vienna in 1996 and he said: "We are Motörhead and we're gonna kick your arse!" Then they started into Iron Fist... I still think fondly of that show!
Raise your hand if your introduction to Motorhead was on an episode of The Young Ones. (That was my first time hearing or seeing them back in high school :) )
Wasn't my introduction to Motorhead but it certainly makes me think of the 'University Challenge' episode (think it was called Bambi) of the Young Ones. The whole train station skit was funny as f*ck at the time. Tried watching some recently though and it hasn't dated well. Do still really enjoy the 'Nasty' episode with The Damned playing though.
Hi guys I'm from England. I was a member of the Motorhead road crew. If you enjoyed Ace of Spades try Overkill. Although Motorhead are no longer with us their sounds still burst anybody's eardrums. Lemmy was in British space rock band Hawkwind.
Yes, he is! I just posted that even though Lemmy looked scary as hell, I had the feeling that I wanted to hug him up! It's nice to know one's instincts are correct. Being a nice person. --- Nice to see you again Ingo! :)
I've never, ever heard of anyone who interacted with Lemmy coming away with anything but a glowing description of the guy, which is just so cool. Plus, he was super-tight with Dave Grohl, which basically makes him a saint in my books. Lemmy and Grohl are up there with, like, Terry Crews and Dave Bautista as living proof that being a badass is not the same thing as being an asshole.
There is a picture for sale in a shop near me of Lemmy with a quote of his just before he died...”Kayne West? Never heard of her”. Proper Rock n Roll legend. Great song. Great review.
John, that's the one. I caught it in Chicago (one of the suburbs). I did make it out to the Bay Area a few years later. I got to see Satriani in Oakland, and drove to Sacramento to see Rush, and later, Van Hagar. The only time I remember going to Mountain View was for an airshow at Moffett Field. It was billed as "the last airshow." That was mid 90's when they were shutting down a bunch of bases in California and Moffett got the axe.
Mötörhead was a band who the punks, Goths, metalheads, and arena bands all respected. They STILL do! I'm happy I got to see them double bill with the Foo-Fighters a few years ago. Check out the Foo's "White Limo" is a collaboration with both bands. It's crazy awesome!
Ace of Spades is probably the perfect introduction to Motorhead. The intro is indeed Lemmy (vocals as well) and his ever present Rickenbacker bass guitar.
Chazz: Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God? Chris Moore: Lemmy. Chris Moore: ... God? Rex: Wrong, dickhead, trick question. Lemmy *IS* God. -Airheads
Lemmy defines the archetype of the British rock star. Motorhead is the dirtiest band in the world. If they moved in next door to you, your lawn would die.
I had to listen to the song again just to be clear, researched it, and I'm 100% sure that there is a bass riff in the beginning, that was AWESOME!!!!! I heard the bass throughout the rest of the song and he was on FIRE!!!! I like how the drummer changed things up in the middle with that pause and I love the juicy guitar solo, incredible!!! The intensity and how your blood kicks in while listening to this song is just unreal, and I've wanted to check out Motörhead since I heard about them two weeks ago in a documentary about 80s hair metal, so I'm glad I was able to check them out through this channel. I will definitely be checking them out again, I wasn't too crazy about the lyrics, but I still think it's a great song! With that being said, great reaction video and have a great day Andy and Alex! :)
I think a lot of these reaction videos, they dont want to admit, "sorry, i have heard this before, didnt know it was going to eb this. Some people making reaction videos just straight up lie.
My very first album was Motorhead's "No Sleep 'til Hammersmith", a live album from 1981. The rendition of their song "Bomber" is one of my favourites, played at a significantly higher tempo than the studio version. It used to get me pumped up when I was a bare-chested, leather-and-spikes clad bare knuckle fighter (locally known as "Creeping Death" lol). Made me feel like I could deflect bullets. I also recommend their self-titled track i.e "Motorhead" obviously, or "Overkill".
This is another song I've gotten many speeding tickets from. I've seen Motorhead in concert several times and each time, I left deaf. I raised my kids on music like this! RIP Lemmy!
That was the fastest metal we had back then. It was way faster than anything else. They influenced all the Thrash bands thst came after 4-5 years. Metallica are big funs of Lemmy and Motorhead. Great choise!
Got into Motorhead in 1981, my first chance to see them live was in 1985. I remember them walking onto the stage and Lemmy announced, "We are Motorhead, and we're going to kick your ass"!
More Motorhead gems: Just "Cos You Got the Power, (We Are) The Road Crew, Shoot You in the Back, Orgasmatron, Capricorn, 1916, Killed By Death, Stone Dead Forever...so many. Glad you guys liked it, thought it may be a little too raw for those fledgling ears.
Now you're ready to launch into space with Lemmy's pre-Motorhead band HAWKWIND (they kicked him out for getting busted at the border with drugs). Whatever you consider 70's prog rock to be, Rush is at one end of that spectrum and Hawkwind is at the opposite end. "Master Of The Universe", "Brainstorm", "You'd Better Believe It" and many, many other soundtrack jams for missions to the center of your mind.
Yeah. That is a dirty overdriven bass played by the almighty Lemmy! Note: the entire lineup that recorded this song (Lemmy: vocals and bass; Fast Eddie Clarke: guitar; and Philthy Phil Taylor: drums) have all passed away. This was the classic lineup of the band. They are now nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Extra note: Lemmy formed Motorhead after leaving the space rock group Hawkwind, which was a heavy, spacey, psychedelic band.
I remember seeing Motorhead in the early 90's in San Francisco. One of the loudest bands I ever heard (Ministry was probably the loudest). Also, the audience was full of punks and bikers, and everyone was having a great time together. Such a fun band to see live. If you want some more bangers, give Ministry a chance. Heavy, heavy, heavy music. Bangers unite!
Lemme use to drink regular in my local the Carlton pub Paddington. He was a great bloke very friendly. He was always in there with the girl rock band called Girl school. There's still a few very early photos of motor head in the old cafes around the Harrow rd
Great reaction and analysis 👍🏼 I think you nailed it with that 50’s Rock and Roll vibe. That’s Lemmy ! ... also that ‘narley’ bass tone is also what Lemmy is famously known for. 🤘🏼 9.5
Saw Motörhead as a young 16 year old 35 years ago in Melbourne with my mate who was a headbanger ,, walked out deaf head ringing for two days ,, what a fucken night never forgot it
Check out the music vid to get the full Motorhead experience, lol. I was never much of a Motorhead fan but this is the definition of banger for me. They were a big influence on the punk and metal scene in the 80's. The lead singer, Lemmy, sang on an album with David Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) that wasn't too bad. The band was called Probot.
The three albums Overkill, Bomber and Ace of Spades are the dogs along with the live album No Sleep Til Hammersmith, I met Lemmy a couple of times including sitting in the night bar of a major city centre hotel at 3am and drinking with him for a couple of hours, RIP to the 3 amigos.
Glenn Hughes, He's been singer bass player with Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Black Country Communion and a very long solo career with many many recordings, he's considered 'The Voice Of Rock' by many many people.
I come from a small town in Devon in the UK, In 1982 as I was just off to see some mates and i bumped into Motorhead, Couldn't believe it, This small Devon market town and there was the most incredible band i knew and was a fan of just yards away from me, Apparently they were staying with an person who wrote and produced songs for Heavy Metal bands and they were down visiting them, I had to go over and say hello to them and they were just awesome and chatted for a bit. I felt like Wayne & Garth from Wayne's World when they met Alice Cooper, I was not worthy! Shame all three have passed away since. Lemmy, Philthy and Fast Eddie. When I saw The Ace of Spades first time reaction, I had to watch with a BIG ASS grin on my face. 😁🎸A♠️ Rock and Roll! ... better drunk. Don't forget "Frankenstein " Edgar Winter Group 🎃
Frankenstein's one of my all time favorites. Bought "They Only Come Out At Night" when I was about 12, for that song( and Free Ride ) First album I ever bought.
We are the road crew, is a must. The best time to listen to these dangerous men, is right before your are about to do something that you need massive energy for. They were the bards playing in the bar just before a all out brawl brakes out
That was the Classic MoToRhEaD lineup with Lemmy Kilmister (bass) and yes that was a bass-driven intro philthy Phil Taylor (drums) and Fast Eddie Clarke on Guitar. Unfortunately, Motorhead is no more, they have all died. There were several incarnations of the band with Lemmy being the glue that held it all together. Some other song suggestions that are BANGERS would be "Eat the Rich" "Killed by Death" "One More Fucking Time" "Stone Dead Forever"
Great concert! I saw them open for Slayer, in the late 80's. Lemmy was literally right in front of me., singing. "And that's the way I like it baby, I don't want to live forever!"..
18 years old. Walking through my Village in England. ( Waltington if you want to know near Kings Lynn Norfolk ) A van pulls up. I think " Here we go " a fight is on the way. The side door opens and members of the Highwaymen ( Motorcycle club ) are in the van " Rick we have a spare ticket to see a heavy metal band. Want to come alone. ( I will say i do know all the members, they are friends for years ) Not sure where we are heading or even what band. No one will tell me. All i know is they were looking for me because i was willing " To get stuck in " in case of trouble..... Get inside and the band starts ... Bloody Motorhead LIVE What a show Must have been around 1980. Think of that Just walking along and within 2 maybe 3 hours you are watching Motorhead....
A Lemmu quote that blew my mind, "I remember when there was no rocknroll", he was old enough to recall a time before acts like Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis, but he was a fan of all of them
You guys are great you guys made me want to rock and roll my head off and you guys are too funny. I really enjoyed your video of motorheads song. Looking at you guys makes me Rock again.
Classic live album, Lemmy's playing bass like a rhythm guitar. Overkill and Metropolis are awesome too, especially live and that album has the ultimate versions.
Forty years ago, 14-year-old me was introduced to heavy rock/metal via this song, then this album, then this band. Forty years later, I'm still listening to inappropriately loud music. We miss you, Motorhead. Warts and all. Now, if you really want a giggle, go and look up Compressorhead...
Oh man, Lemmy! (RIP) -- This is probably the only Speed Metal song that is dear to my heart. Great F'in' song. To quote Mikey... Nope, I can't! Lmao. Great reaction fellas. This was a high octane wake up on a Wednesday! Great day to ya! :) *Can't wait for Friday. Omg!*
Fast Eddie Clark I'm guitar loved his band fast way after he left motorhead I got to meet him before a concert along with the rest of the band great guys check out some fast way maybe to say what you will
Motorhead are legends however I just was never really into the music. I definitely respect that it's a space is a rocker for sure the drummer is really fast Eddie Clark The guitar player from the group password my band at about 10 or 12 of those songs really enjoy the music check out fast way to see what you Thanks for doing King Crimson there one of my top 10 favorite bands. At least the old stuff This is my favorite iron maiden I would say is my second favorite. Sorry can't leave any Motörhead songs off top of my head I know they got some good ones but they're all pretty much similar to ace of spades at least to my ear. Keep up the good work you guys do a good job
Was awesome checking out our first Motorhead track! What other songs would you guys suggest?! Have a great day friends!! 🔥🤟🏻

"We are Motörhead and we play Rock'n'Roll." That's how Lemmy started all their shows.
Also “We are Motörhead, and we’re here to kick your ass.”
Lemmy looked scary as hell, but for some reason... I wanted to hug him up. A gentle soul. Anyone else have that urge? lol :)
Not quite. I saw them in Vienna in 1996 and he said: "We are Motörhead and we're gonna kick your arse!" Then they started into Iron Fist... I still think fondly of that show!

Yes and the next day I bought the single at Woolworths.
Yup yup!

This song is iconic. Everything about it just drips with attitude. The type of rock that terrified our parents. Great energy and as raw as they come.

”Kayne West? Never heard of her”.
Yes! Yes!
That intro is all Lemmy, on the Rickenbacker with a pick, thru cranked Marshalls!
My dad has a marshall amp, and only has good things to say about them. They kick some serious behind
Cranked is right. They played LOUD. I saw them on tour with Judas Priest and Alice Cooper back in '91. My ears are still ringing.
Motorhead are like The Who, they were much better live. Check out a live version of Overkill or Bomber and they will blow your ears out

Bloody Motorhead LIVE What a show Must have been around 1980. Think of that Just walking along and within 2 maybe 3 hours you are watching Motorhead....
“Eat The Rich” or “Killed by Death” by these guys.
I was a teenage mod. But still loved this track. Unadulterated bass, guitar and drums perfection. Oh and Lemmy vocals. 😊
A Lemmu quote that blew my mind, "I remember when there was no rocknroll", he was old enough to recall a time before acts like Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis, but he was a fan of all of them
Ronnie James Dio was 3 years older. He was singing and performing before the Beatles.
Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis are still alive - several people are still around who invented rock and roll
Wow. It never occurred to me that anybody hadn't heard Motorhead. Lemmy is the godfather of metal. Great reaction guys.
Great song, Motörhead were basically a punk band with hair! “Bomber” is in a similar vein to this, just fast rock!
Also what he says in the breakdown. Dont Forget The Joker. Words to live by.
I'm not a MotorHead, but this tune does rock! Only MotorHead song I've ever heard, I should checkout more but I just never do it. I don't know why?
My sentiments exactly. First one for me also, but it won't be the last. Rockin tune.
If there’s one “Overkill”.
You guys are great you guys made me want to rock and roll my head off and you guys are too funny.
I really enjoyed your video of motorheads song.
Looking at you guys makes me Rock again.
'no sleep til hammersmith' the most energetic live album ever.
Please you must react to Overkill. In my opinion one of the best solos ever.
Lemmy was an icon and a great bloke. He sang Silver Machine by Hawkwind and not long after they sacked him.
Lemmy on Bass. LEGEND
Seriously, that track is absolutely mental. It makes my speakers quake. Rock and Roll!!
Rush - Limelight. Amazing song, must do a reaction to it.
RUSH rules! Best band ever!
Oh man, Lemmy! (RIP) -- This is probably the only Speed Metal song that is dear to my heart. Great F'in' song. To quote Mikey... Nope, I can't! Lmao. Great reaction fellas. This was a high octane wake up on a Wednesday! Great day to ya! :) *Can't wait for Friday. Omg!*
Fast Eddie Clark I'm guitar loved his band fast way after he left motorhead I got to meet him before a concert along with the rest of the band great guys check out some fast way maybe to say what you will
Fastway is awesome!
Motorhead are legends however I just was never really into the music. I definitely respect that it's a space is a rocker for sure the drummer is really fast Eddie Clark The guitar player from the group password my band at about 10 or 12 of those songs really enjoy the music check out fast way to see what you
Thanks for doing King Crimson there one of my top 10 favorite bands. At least the old stuff
This is my favorite iron maiden I would say is my second favorite.
Sorry can't leave any Motörhead songs off top of my head I know they got some good ones but they're all pretty much similar to ace of spades at least to my ear. Keep up the good work you guys do a good job
There has never been anyone before or since who is more rock and roll than Lemmy.
