  • You all keep asking me when am I going to fight again, and this is my official answer.
Go to drinkag1.com/fighttips to get a FREE 1-year supply of Vitamin D3+K2 and 5 AG1 travel packs with your first purchase. Thanks to AG1 for sponsoring today's video!
My last boxing match was back in 2016, and I've been debating ever since whether or not I want to get back into the ring.
In this video I talk about how I stay motivated to train, what my weekly training routine looks like, and when you can expect to see me “The FIGHTTIPS Guy” fight again.

"Yeah, I miss competing and sparring and all of that. But even if I can't do it anymore, that doesn't mean I gotta stop helping you all. I gave up on my dream to help you guys get yours"
My coach suffered retinal detachment and had to retire in his early carreer. He's not even 30, but he had to do it.

I felt this, its exactly why I stop trying to fight even when I wanted too.
Had mutiple concussions before, two being really bad, and I got one from trainning hard back to back early this year. This new one had brought symptoms i never had before, but somehow even if I was worry of it getting worse I wasn't because I knew what I was getting into.
But it was looking at my mom's expression and hearing her talk to me in the ER when we went to do a catscan that seal the deal for me. I realize that fighting is more then just sacrificing yourself, but the people that matter to you the most.
I have my ups and down cause of that, still dealing with symptoms, but in hindsight, I want to become a coach like you someday. And its crazy, while I haven't been watching your videos in sometime, I use to grow up watching you doing all these moves, taking advices how to be a better martial artist, and even now, i'm still learning from you as of today.
Appreciate all that you've done and how your still helping me be a better martial artist. Hopefully, i can see you at striking 101 whenever i'm able to go back!

I just had my first fight last month and I have another one coming this Friday. I underestimated how much goes into preparation of a fight and it is extremely taxing on the body and the mind.
Needless to say I will definitely be taking some time off bc there is no way I can balance life, family, and the gym as a 30 something amateur fight. A real fight does not compare in any way to any type of hard sparring I’ve done in the past. Much respect to the few that have actually gotten in the ring win or lose.

I’ve watched you since my first year in high school, I’m almost 21 now.
I found you when I was frantically looking on the internet how to fight because I got called out for a fight down at the local skatepark when I first moved to this new highschool. Found your fight tips and instantly got to work, honestly fell in love with training, I ended up going to the skatepark at 12-13 and ended up getting a takedown and just ground and pounding this older kid. So thank you. That started my journey joined a Japanese ju-jitsu did it for a couple years then went to Mauy thai at 16. Heading over to Thailand next month when I turn 21 for 3 months to train. So In a weird way you were a big part of my journey 🤙🏾🤝 thank you brother keep spreading that great knowledge.

I suffered a concussion early on into kickboxing from sparring. I said to myself then and there that I have 1 more chance. Thankfully it was not repeated and I have competed 3 times over 8 years. I do very little sparring in order to protect my brain.
I only competed so I can look back in future without any regrets. It is truly terrifying to fight, A massive pressure and constant stress from the moment you agree to fight until the fight is over.
Would never want to fight for a job. That would have to be one of the hardest jobs mentally unless of course you have that fighters mentality.

I have trained boxing, krav maga, karate and freestyle grappling, with boxing having the most experience casually in two years. I have been in a few sparring matches and I can still say that it is very taxing in the body and I still need more conditioning ever with the right mind set. Now, imagine those fighters who started at the age of below 10 and currently, still in the martial arts world today. The dedication, conditioning, fighting spirit, etc. I mean, that's a whole new level. Kudos to the fighters both the retired, the current, and anyone who steps on the ring who gave it their all, win or lose. Also, I followed you since the days when Ant and you had video on some alley teaching self defense so, again, thank you for the teaching us how to fight and defend ourselves! You earned our thanks!

A lot of us feel similarly, Shane, or we would have entered the ring, too. There's lots of choices to be made in one's life and it's always a good move when someone chooses to make the smart move and when we take the time to reflect, we can all know what the smart move is for us.
Good call, brother, keep up the great work!

Man I’d love to see you in the main stage fighting, I’m in the same stage as you I quit fighting before but 6 years later I’m back I just couldn’t stay away from the thing that I love the most.
And the 6 years without it was hell, so ima start to fight again and hopefully I see you fighting too because you’ve inspired me so much all throughout those years.

I had a discussion about this with my MMA coach as well. He's only had one MMA fight and has competed in grappling tournaments, but his goals shifted into becoming a good coach, and he got pretty damn good at it.

It’d be amazing to watch you compete again especially in an organization like One Championship, but I agree and respect your decision and will continue to support FightTips!

Great video! I myself had quite a lot of concussions, some mild ones & two to three harder ones but recently i have gotten one from a pretty normal punch that would have never had any implications otherwise and i realized that i probably accumulated so much damage that even a little bit can already give me a concussion. So i decided to call it quits with muay thai and sparring, now i‘m doing bagwork for myself to keep sharp but of course it‘s not the same. There were times when i was thinking that i could start again, but overall your message really put things into perspective.
