This deserves far more views and comments. Hopefully it will get picked up by the algorithm as more people see it over time. I've watched a lot of videos on Chrono Trigger, it's history, it's development, etc. and this one was really good.
Your videos are done well. That said, I really dislike how Yasunori Mitsuda wasn't even mentioned. He did the majority of the soundtrack, and was hospitalized due to the amount of work he did non stop. Nobuo Uemetsu was only brought in after Mitsuda was unable to finish due to stomach ulcers from working so hard.

You did a great job creating a concise video about the history, release, and legacy of Chrono Trigger. Chrono Trigger was a game I heard about when I was younger and played it on the Nintendo DS. It was amazing, but I never completed it. Maybe I should try and find it again... Excellent video!
16:55 In addition to the great reasons listed, I think the most immediately obvious likenesses to Secret of Mana are the sprite size of the characters (significantly taller), and the party of three versus of Final Fantasy standard of four or five.
Fantastic video. I've subbed to your channel, I've seen you have a video about the 25th anniversary of Resident Evil too. The only complain I have (and maybe I've missed something here?) is that you did not gave the soundtrack any credit and it seems like you've credited the soundtrack to Uematsu? He only took over for a few songs from Mitsuda because he was overworked with the soundtrack and had actually a gastric ulcer because of that. Otherwise, fantastich stuff, please keep up the good work.
Man it sucks that you have so little subscribers. Well made video good job. I've just made my first you tube video on Chrono Trigger of all things. I'm not gonna try and steal your thunder so I'm not gonna link it in your video. Keep up the good work you'll catch your break eventually
Damn doubt youll see this 2 yrs later but man this is amazing was looking for somethign to fall asleep to so i put this on 5 mins in i end up sitting up to watch the whole thing thank you
Ah back when a new sustem would drastically change the graphics. Man i miss that feeling when i would get it all set up and first turn it on... Oh look at the graphics... as far as gaming i grew up in the sweet spot. I remember pong i had an atair and an intelevision. Then at 13 i got my NES and it was on Getting to witness it all has been cool. Oh how far it has come.
I love Chrono Trigger, but HATE the sequel. I never played it until the recent Switch release. I liked Radical Dreamers, but Cross just sucked. Unlike the easy to follow story in Trigger, the plot in Cross was very convoluted and hard to follow. Trigger had a small cast of likable characters, while Cross had a very bloated cast of something like 50 characters, none of whom got much in the way of character development. And then there's the gameplay. Woo boy, it really says something about how overly complex your combat system is when I just used the port's auto-battle feature for literally ever single fight, both regular enemies and bosses. I honestly don't know how that game got such rave reviews when it first came out.
27 years and I have NEVER heard anyone say "Luk-ah" as the pronunciation until this video. Then again, the vast majority of people pronounce the name of the time machine (Epoch) incorrectly as "ee-pac" when the correct pronunciation of that word should actually be "epik" (as in an epic tale) If I'm being fair however, plenty of names get butchered in this game. Marle tends to get "Mar-lee" a bunch, Janus is typically called "Jan-us" when it should be pronounced like the name of the Roman god (Jay-nus, although to be fair even that gets butchered), and I've even heard people refer to the Queen/Kingdom in 12,000 BC as if it was the FF8 character (Zell). Don't even get me started on Schala.

Came here to say this. Nobuo only worked on like 10 of the 60 tracks. CT soundtrack is one of the all-time Greats.
Haven’t even started the video but subscribed because this looks like it’s gonna be epic video

Nit pick: nearest neighbour is not how it's meant to look. I recommend the Alphultima shader instead.

ok so now I'm curious how many people pronounce "Lucca" as "Luh-kuh" or as "Loo-Kuh" or otherwise?
