@@TheFrugalAudiophile : it’s not just for a beginner. It’s a top quality Sony. I’ve got about 500 vinyl LP’s, collected since I was a teenager in the 1970’s, that I’ve played on this turntable for the last 3 years. It’s perfect! Why would I spend any more on a turntable? For the last year I’ve got it hooked to Edifier S1000mkII speakers and the sound reproduction is perfect. I’ve also used it via the Bluetooth facility and again, it was great. Hi there, I recently got this turntable and trying to connect with the external preamp. I connected the rca cables to the input in pre amp and connected the output to the receiver. I don’t have a phono input in my receiver. So I connected the rca cable to the Aux / CDR rca inputs in the receiver. I turned the output to phono. However the sound is not coming in my speakers. how does it sound not having ground cable ,any hum or noise inbetween tracks or does it work without it finally ,all other models ones has to create a ground cable for them to work with perfect sound
Thank you for the review! I was super curious about how important getting a receiver with a pre-amp would be and I'm feeling pretty confident now that getting a receiver with more options but no preamp would be fine with this turntable :)
I am looking at a record player with full auto for an 80 year old person, who has got back in to vinyl. This seems to tick the boxes of ease of use and Bluetooth to connect to small active speakers. I think B- is a good rating over a manual ceramic record deck 😀 Shame the price is on the high side for a plastic deck.
You could always wait for a sale. This turntable seems to be discounted quite often. I would not pay more than $200 for it. Given its ease of use I think it would be a great choice for an elderly person! For a great pair of inexpensive powered speakers look at the NEUMI BS5P. The measure well and are relatively cheap. Other brands to consider are Edifier or Personos for decent, low-cost, powered speakers.
Thanks for your great channel. Do you notice big difference between dh 190 amplifier and the sound of built in amp of this player? And can you mention the differences?. Kind regards
They sound very similar. I think they are of similar quality. Only difference I noticed was when switching to an external phono pre-amp. I was using he Fluance PA-10.
Great video! I have a question. I want to buy a new preamp and speakers but I remembered this turntable has a built-in preamp. Also, I am not a fan of using BT speakers because of quality sound. If so, which speakers would you recommend for this?
Yes, you could attach self-powered speakers to this turntable with the built-in pre-amp enabled. For self-powered speakers in a similar price range consider the Jamo S 810 PM, Neumi BS5P and Edifier 1280D.
