I actually think that the new lp60x has a few things better about it than the Denon (I've owned both). The Denon actually uses the chassis of the OLD lp60 (developed in the early 90's) so it is more likely to skip due to the imperfect tonearm mass. The cartridge is really good for the price, just not as bass or treble heavy as people expect as it's meant to be as balanced sounding as possible. I think it's more to dampening, build quality and material choice that impact the sound of these rather than being "stuck with a cheap cartridge". Also, the missing lift button/lever is a really stupid move as almost every other turntable using that 90's developed chassis has one! I think looking back I would've chosen the 60x, not just because of the improved build quality over the 90's design that the Denon uses. It's mostly due to the wrong spots where Denon cut costs! It did sound good, perfectly balanced, clear bass and treble as well as nice midrange. Couldn't hear a difference between both of them so I'd rather recommend the lp60x.
Dang. In 2020 you could buy the LP60x for $80 at a number of retailers. Now it's twice the price. I own one. To all considering getting in to vinyl, save up and buy a u-turn, Monoprice, Insignia, or Fluance RT-81 before the plastic fantastic lp60. Being able to change the cartridge down the line is a major benefit. To that end, my lp60 sounds good using the phono pre-amp in my Denon receiver.
I know, it's crazy! Inflation has been out of the control the past couple of years. Of the brands you listed I've only used the Fluance RT81. I really like it! Out of the box it sounds pretty good. I upgraded the stylus and added an external pre-amp. It sounds fantastic now!
the denon dp-29f is basically the same as the audio tech lp-60 if you open them up you see the same gizmos most likely made in the same factory I have a aiwa px -e860 made in 1999 which I found in the garbage pile there was nothing wrong with it ,it works just fine threy all have different features according to the comp who is having this built for them all have the at-3600 cart it is a good cart it is why they are not expensive but my aiwa from 1999 I opened it up sam,e as the lp-60 internally
I own a Direct Drive Realistic Lab-430 for which I paid $130 in 1985 and I use it to this very day.

Yes, the missing lift lever is a huge misstep on Denon's part.

What is the model of the mentioned Sony device? Good video though.
$200 is far too much for this deck! Here in the UK it's currently going for £119!
Yes, it is! Fortunately, it does go on sale a lot here in the US.
Right now in uk its £109 and the lp60x is £149, which one should I go for as a beginner tt?
The Denon since it is very similar to the LP60X.
i found one of these at the thrift store for $10!
Amazing deal! What kind of condition was it in?
