I bought a Mustang II thinking I needed the bigger speaker to get good sound. Later, I picked up a used Mustang I as a gift for a friend. He never saw it. It's a bedroom player's dream with an amazing sound for an 8" speaker. You can make it scream at a volume just above that of the un-amplified guitar and they'll never hear it in the next room. The closed-back cabinet makes the sound rather highly directional, though, so where you sit in relation to the amp makes a big difference in how it sounds.
The built in sounds are interesting to some players but the Fuse software is where the real fun starts because you can customize every sound and even download other peoples sounds. There are quite a few YT videos on how to use the software so now it has become a viable tool. As a practice amp it's versatility is hard to beat at this price.
Looking at something for headphone practice, I just checked one of these out with headphones at Guitar Center. I was pretty impressed with it. I would never kick my tube amps to the curb, but for nighttime quiet practice, it seems to fit the bill.
I own one of these, I would definitely recommend it for late night , or headphone practice, low vol. practice, etc. Esp. over a lot of amps that have no features whatsoever, no modeling, nothing, as many of the older tiny Fenders and others (Marshall) seem to exemplify. The Mustang is affordable, seemingly made well, and has so many modeling options and features, it's really versatile. Esp. for rock, blues, boogie, metal, etc. Clean and country, maybe not so much. I think another such amp to consider, or two of them, are the various smaller modeling Vox amps, and the Line6 line.
this Mustang 1 was my first ever amp 5 years ago. allowed me to quietly practice with good various tones. I later bought a 15watt tube amp and found a better sound. I upgraded my Mustang with a 10inches speaker ( yes it fits in ) Eminence Ramrod, and have now an even improved tone. Cannot compare with a real AC15, but already a very good tone. I m still using it to have fun on these various modelings. really worth the money.
I have this amp myself - The first amp I ever got - and I must say, if you want an amp that's small, cheap, reliable and very good, I would get this, despite its size, it's more than capable of projecting through a huge ballroom, and I never doubt it's capabilities, for 2 years now, I have relied on it to do a great job, and boy, has it done the best job!
Any clue as to how the footswitch works? It switches for sure, but I haven't got a clue before hand as to what it switches to. I'll pick an amp with the knob, do some presets, save, and then... The presets are in there somewhere, but the footswitch just brings me to some other random amp - I'm really at bay here with this one.
What amp are you using? A mustang 3/4/5 will have a "UTIL" button that if you press enough times will allow you to change what the footswitch does, for example changing the preset or toggling effects.
I have one of these amps and love it. It's an excellent little practice amp and sounds really good at low volumes. I have a Fender Pro Junior and that thing is freaking loud. It also buzzes a lot so at low volumes you mostly hear the buzz (not what I would call an ideal practice amp). The Mustang has really decent sound, tons of versatility, is very inexpensive, and has headphone and aux jacks - when I'm living in an old folk's home this is probably the amp I'll have with me. Even though the Fuse software isn't supported by Fender anymore, you can still use it to modify or create your own sounds. Like Shane, I do find that some pedals don't work super well with this amp. The Mustangs were discontinued a long time ago but you can pick them up for a song now. Highly recommended!
Love your playing style. I gig weekly with a Princeton Reverb, but getting it up to gig volume at home disturbs the family. I got one of these and it NAILS the Fender sounds at lower volumes and has a headphone out. Best sounding modeling amp I've used (and I've owned plenty). Opinions vary, but if you're looking for the Fender sound(s) in a practice modeling amp, at this price it's a no-brainer!
A friend of mine owns a full 100 watt Fender Frontman or whatever it is, gigs with it all the time, but you wouldn't necessarily wanna open up with it at home unless you have a garage or some private soundproofed spot to do it in. The Mustangs fit the bill for quieter practice, or moderate-level jamming, whatever, and the features are amazing.
hey bro does this make a strat sound good when you wanna make dirt? im debating on a strat with this setup but dunno if i wanna get this or if i should get a humbucker guitar
I just installed A Mustang 1 & a Fender Squire Bullet (Humbucker - Single - Single) in my local pub. It's PERFECT for low cost no worry great versatility in such a situation. the great tone is always there from near-ZERO volume to as loud as you choose to get.
I have my Mustang V and and a Mustang I amps uptairs and I play the Mustang I most of the time, and if I want to take my amp down to the garage it is really light. For practice the Mustang I is perfect and sounds really good too.
Have the Mustang I V2, it IS a fun amp! A lot of versatility in a small affordable package. Great for playing at home, parties, and small low volume jams. Bought it for the portability, but the sounds are pretty knockout. And a ton of creativity that will open up your playing for sure. It's a blast, check one out!
Good one Shane .... You newbs out there be assured that if you need a first amp these amps effing rock! .The supersonic setting alone will allow you to rock your ass off along side any other brand and you can get heavier or cleaner way easy...take it from decades of experience THE MUSTANG is equal to tubes and a speaker upgrade can give you tones to match!
Just recently picked one of the v.2... good little amp.. so I thought I bet this thing would sound better open back.. so I took the back panel off and with drill and a 2" hole saw I put 2 holes at the bottom near left and right corners, and one about exactly opposite from the power cord jack, and again close to the edge of the pannel.. wow talk about a nice little improvement in the frequency spectrums.. amp sounds louder, fuller, and of course more room filling dimensional sound.. of course it voids warranty.. and I agree with you the supersonic models are killer.. the american high gain on green and amber, and the green metal, as well as the bassnans and twin rock as well to.. but supersonic alone justifies this amp..
You will never go wrong for Joyo Jam Buddy. Cost only $119, its small (really small like two smartphone together) with internal battery, bluetooth (mine got broken)but the sound will blow your mind!
I just give 59 or $69 at the pawn shop for one, and I'm impressed. Could possibly use a better speaker, but that's every little amp on the market. It makes a good slave amp too for widening the sound of a better amp, hold the tap button down as you turn it on, and it bypasses all the preamp and fx and only the master volume knob works, so you can slave it off of another amp, and not add anything to the sound of it.
Mustangs 3 and up are so different in tone. 😙. I'm using a small fender rumble bass amp the sound is SUPER CLEAN 👍 ready for any pedal with Quality results and amplified w/mic sounds like a very expensive equipment. I learned that from a professional guitarist.
Had this amp for cpl years uses it with laptop and Fuse software. So much fun to practice with acoustic and electric, Plus USB to record a riff. No is not a purist Tube. But is fun!
I have played acoustic for most of my life. So I bought this amp two weeks ago and I love it. I had $100 to spend and a $20 coupon to GC and BAM! Plugged in my new Epiphone Nighthawk and the windows rattle on my house. I gotta make sure the wife isn't home when I do that! :)
It was on guitarcenter.com and it was for $20 any purchase for $100 or more. I'm sure it was a Christmas deal, but if you keep your eyes peeled you may be able to find a similar deal. Good Luck!
Theres one in my are for 30usd. Seems like a no brainer. Sold my amp that had a headphone out and cant get my tube amps to saturate at low volumes. Ty!
For all you people thinking of buying this amp, first get rid of all that modeling junk and get you a bunch of good pelals and run through the fender and you will killer sounds, I have a boss gt 10 and I run it through the amp and I cut out all the junk and it sounds killer, do this and you can play any where and any way you want, the modeling would be good just to fool around on, but all in all this amp is really good!!
Sounds really good... I'm in the market for a Mustang 1 or 2.... Just can't decide wheter I need the 12' speaker or can settle for the 8'... It'll mainly be used at home as practice amp... But then again you could take out the M2 and gig with it... Decisions decisions..... Any thoughts?
Juventin hej Juventin... I went out and bought the 1. Trust me for home use this thing is loud enough! I rarely have the volume above 3, as I have 2 kids a wife and neighbours too :D The Fender software is awesome too... If you're planning to gig with it I would go and get the 2 but for home use only I think the 1 will sufice just perfectly.. Good luck!
Dennis de Lange Hi guys i got mustang 1 since one year ago.. and its really cool amp for practice, yeah its really loud even when "sizes" doesnt look like, but when i connect my MXR pedal or BOSS.. really good amp, my fav preset, its 65 Twin Reverb (Green light) really smooth for cool songs even with distortion pedals, Cheers!
I like how at 3:41 they pan to an amp that is on and on the wrong setting and miked with no guitar cable plugged into it. Case of artistic shot defying reality or black magic??
I own the mustang 2 amp. You should buy it if you're a blues player or classic rock player for practice. The high gain sounds are terrible. Especially the deluxe amp model is surprisingly well done.
I have a question..are all these amplifiers available as options for the fender mustang lV 150?? I intend to buy it, I'm not a musician, but I'm interested in everything that is quality as a tool. .is that okay???
hey there.! I have a question...can you use these amps with anolog pedals? will it sound great as a normal fender amp? overdrive and delay to be specific..thaks.!
I'm fairly new to guitar and I'm might be getting a Yamaha Pacifica 112, I heard those guitars are pretty cheap and really good for beginners! What is a good amp for this guitar? (I know nothing)
You might want to try this out. Also if you want to spend a little extra money you could try to go up to the Mustang II. Personal preference really. I'm fairly new to guitar too. :) You should look around a little bit to find the best deal.
I've bought myself one of this amp and I'm really satisfied. Ideal for a rented apartment, play at night and a really good Fender Sound. The new GT Series sucks, the sound is poor. Get one of these Mustangs you wont regret it !!
Great video, especially like the part where you place a drive pedal at the front end. Question, a little off topic, would you consider the Mustang II to large for bedroom practice? Thanks
I was very conviced to get the Champion 20, I was just looking to get my clean playing warmer, both amps give warmer tones for an amp their size, in my opinion the Mustang V2 gives you more warmer tones and it is noticeable. you want to save the 20 dollars on the Champion it is ok , I decided to put those 20 bucks, that I might spent in other disposable stuff anyways. both amps very good!
Hello. Just found your channel.👍 I have a question,, I’m looking at 2 amps. Peavey vypr 30 amp modelling amp and a fender mustang 1. As a beginner which do yo recommend ? Thanks
First off thank you for the video. I've had this amp for a few years haven't really experimented much with it up until recently. It says the Amber settings are Factory presets and you can't alter them but I seem to be able to do the same thing on the Amber as the green and the red. Is this a glitch? Any thoughts? Thanks again for the video.
I like mine quite a lot, but there is one thing that confuses me, on this day and ages, why is not a bluetooth on this thing, a lot of headphones are bluetooth.
How durable is this, I've heard modeling amps catch technical problems overtime, might get champion 20, that's solid state, this is digital, would be great to try this though.
I run a wet/dry rig and was wondering if this little amp would be good for my clean tones on stage. Lugging around my Twin is a pain in the a$$ and getting the right tone out of it means cranking it. Which bars hate.
I am new to electric guitar and bought this amp with another cheap hss guitar. How do you create those licks? Is it only by linking pentatonic patterns using caged or major scale? Or maybe blues scale?
Currently i am thinking whether I should buy a modelling amp like Mustang 1 or 15 watt tube amp for home practise. Which one do you recommend? What i concern most is whether a 15 watt amp is too loud to use at home. Thanks!
Hey Shane, can the mustang 1 be connected to a 4way footswitch, some say gt or what have you,,if yes then I need to get one. I can't seem to get a straight answer from the blokes at guitar center here in San Antone???

For a clean sound, hold down the "TAP" button while turning on the amp. Works for Mustang 2.
tangobayus dang thanjs
Oh wow! This also works on the Mustang 1 (v.2). How'd you find that out? It's not in the "advanced" manual! Thanks so much!
👌
I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT FOR MONTHS
Doesn’t work for mine :( This amp is ok but the distortion is in every single preset and it’s killing me
I bought a Mustang II thinking I needed the bigger speaker to get good sound. Later, I picked up a used Mustang I as a gift for a friend. He never saw it. That directivity makes it great in the studio when you don’t want other room mikes to pick it up.
Very organic tone for not being tube, impressive.
I agree!!!

There are quite a few YT videos on how to use the software so now it has become a viable tool. As a practice amp it's versatility is hard to beat at this price.
is there a difference in sound between the both? which one is best for practice home with thin walls???
Just got one of these amps used for cheap, I'm just learning to play and this amp is a a lot of fun.
Nice demo, i've seen your video and 2 hours later i bought this amplifier, it's a awasome product. Thanks .

@Gilles Genete
Do you still use your mustang?Sounds like a great mod.

There's a 40/50w version cause I have one increase anyone needs bigger lol :3

This is a Mustang II. A mysterious entity, an unpredictable beast, a free creature that shall conceed to no man's will.
But it does have some nice presets in it, it's just the footswitch part of it that reveals its dark nature.
I have one of these amps and love it. It's an excellent little practice amp and sounds really good at low volumes. I have a Fender Pro Junior and that thing is freaking loud. tell you what even now .that sounds pretty damn good .. has modelling really improved that much
I don't know for sure, but from I've heard, I don't think so. These Mustangs sound great.
Careful the metal 2000 preset is twice the volume of the rest lmao
hey bro does this make a strat sound good when you wanna make dirt? im debating on a strat with this setup but dunno if i wanna get this or if i should get a humbucker guitar
@@cracker182 strat can do it no problem

I could listen to Shane play all day. Wonderful musician.
Nice to see a lefty like me demonstrating Amp equipment. It's nice to know I'm not alone. Oh yeah! Good video. Very enjoyable & informative.

Thanks for a lovely demo ❤❤❤
Nice job, Lefty. Great demo of all the facets of this little gem.
Brilliant value for a practice amp, I'm well impressed with mine.
I got the little Mustang 1 V1 and love it.
Good one Shane .... I have a Fender Mustang 1. Great little practice amp!
Finally a left hander to watch, tele with the mustang...it's tailor made for me
You are just crazy good Shane. The amp's not bad either. Rock on!
WHAT A WONDERFUL AMP FOR A REALLY REASONABLE PRICE.
Thanks for that helpful 'tip'....
You will never go wrong for Joyo Jam Buddy. Cost only $119, its small (really small like two smartphone together) with internal battery, bluetooth (mine got broken)but the sound will blow your mind!
You got loads of low end from the bassman because...it's a bassman.
I have this amp. It is great
Sounds like a great little amp . $119 in New Jersey , USA .
I love my mustang 1.
Perfect video since I have a USA telecaster and I need a small amp for the office. You cant exactly lug around a twin reverb everywhere you go.
I just give 59 or $69 at the pawn shop for one, and I'm impressed. Could possibly use a better speaker, but that's every little amp on the market. Excellent demo thanks. Glad to see Fender using the 60’s name plate again.
Drooling over your guitar (I'm a lefty)!
Mustangs 3 and up are so different in tone. 😙.
I'm using a small fender rumble bass amp the sound is SUPER CLEAN 👍 ready for any pedal with Quality results and amplified w/mic sounds like a very expensive equipment.

just bought one at a pawnshop..brand new still....50 bucks...not bad does its job..
Grat price for one of these. Nice pratice amp. I would love it if it ad some modulation effects.
Nice playing, man!
I always find myself being more impressed by how good the player is. Not the amp. A good player can make a banana sound good.
Where did you get that coupon? Thanks :)
It was on guitarcenter.com and it was for $20 any purchase for $100 or more. I'm sure it was a Christmas deal, but if you keep your eyes peeled you may be able to find a similar deal. Good Luck!
And that tele sound magnificent
Theres one in my are for 30usd. Seems like a no brainer. Sold my amp that had a headphone out and cant get my tube amps to saturate at low volumes. Ty!
Had to double check, Lefty! So funny watching the confusion when people pick up my lefty fender. subscribed
I have owned this amp for a few months now and it is simply fantastic! Great video!
Thanks Shane, champion.
I love your playing bro very professional awesome
Nice demo, thanks amigo! Be safe an well!
Awesome review and playing!
You have mad skills, I think you can make even mediocre equipment sound good!!
Any thoughts?
so what did you go for?? I m asking because i can't decide either :(
Juventin hej Juventin... I went out and bought the 1. Trust me for home use this thing is loud enough! I rarely have the volume above 3, as I have 2 kids a wife and neighbours too :D
The Fender software is awesome too...
If you're planning to gig with it I would go and get the 2 but for home use only I think the 1 will sufice just perfectly..
Good luck!
Dennis de Lange
Hi guys i got mustang 1 since one year ago.. and its really cool amp for practice, yeah its really loud even when "sizes" doesnt look like, but when i connect my MXR pedal or BOSS.. really good amp, my fav preset, its 65 Twin Reverb (Green light) really smooth for cool songs even with distortion pedals, Cheers!
sounds good
Lost me when you panned to the amp while playing and although it was on and has a mic in front of it.... Nothing was plugged into it.
DOH!!! That's funny
That's called "the b roll with no continuity". haha.
The amp is plugged in, it is sitting next to him, you need to,pay attention!
everything's Bluetooth nowadays.
Wireless has been around
I like how at 3:41 they pan to an amp that is on and on the wrong setting and miked with no guitar cable plugged into it. Case of artistic shot defying reality or black magic??
I own this amp. Thanks for Demo
I own the mustang 2 amp. You should buy it if you're a blues player or classic rock player for practice. The high gain sounds are terrible. Especially the deluxe amp model is surprisingly well done.
Keep in mind that he was playing a tele with single coil pickups which is not what someone would usually use for playing metal.
Nice, lefty!
British 80's is so a Marshall JCM800
cool! Thanks for the info :)
I have a question..are all these amplifiers available as options for the fender mustang lV 150?? I intend to buy it, I'm not a musician, but I'm interested in everything that is quality as a tool. .is that okay???
hey there.! I have a question...can you use these amps with anolog pedals? will it sound great as a normal fender amp? overdrive and delay to be specific..thaks.!
affordable practice amp very nice! also try the roland cube 10gx sounds good for a small amp!👍
Gotta know...what are the pups in that tele? Barden?
I'm fairly new to guitar and I'm might be getting a Yamaha Pacifica 112, I heard those guitars are pretty cheap and really good for beginners! What is a good amp for this guitar? (I know nothing)
You might want to try this out. Also if you want to spend a little extra money you could try to go up to the Mustang II. Personal preference really. I'm fairly new to guitar too. :) You should look around a little bit to find the best deal.
Sounds really good
I've bought myself one of this amp and I'm really satisfied. Ideal for a rented apartment, play at night and a really good Fender Sound. The new GT Series sucks, the sound is poor. Get one of these Mustangs you wont regret it !!
I agree !
"Ight I'll play some blues"
:rolls up sleeves
I see you my nigga🤣
I just want to find the best setting. I’m new and don’t really know how to use it
Great video, especially like the part where you place a drive pedal at the front end. Question, a little off topic, would you consider the Mustang II to large for bedroom practice? Thanks
This sounds so good!
Mustang 1 or Champion 20??
I was very conviced to get the Champion 20, I was just looking to get my clean playing warmer, both amps give warmer tones for an amp their size, in my opinion the Mustang V2 gives you more warmer tones and it is noticeable. you want to save the 20 dollars on the Champion it is ok , I decided to put those 20 bucks, that I might spent in other disposable stuff anyways. both amps very good!
Right now, I need a good amp which doesn't cost more than $150. Mainly for blues, rock and pop gigging. What do you recommend?
***** Thanks man.
Look for a used Mustang III...because you said gigging. I wouldn't use a Mustang 1 with a full band / drums
Hello. Just found your channel.👍 I have a question,, I’m looking at 2 amps. Peavey vypr 30 amp modelling amp and a fender mustang 1. As a beginner which do yo recommend ? Thanks
How do you get a clean tone without the pedal?
Guys, which amp is better... Fender Champion 20 or Fender Mustang I??
Even if I boost the treble, it’s still kind of muddy..like it would be hard to cut through the mix, as Ritchie Blackmore would say.
sounds cool
Hi shane. How loud is this boy? Enough to be heard with a crazy drummer? Maybe I should look for the mustang ii?
You should go for the Mustang II due to it having separate reverb. The Mustang I has a reverb/delay in 1 and it gets annoying if you just want reverb.
Actually I think you have to get the Mustang III to have the separate reverb.
just press the "tap" button really quick a few times and then the delay isn't noticeable.
Sounds awesome
good sounds!!!
Looking to pick up my first amp. Would a Les Paul style with humbuckers still sound good through this amp? Thanks.
I need help with this amp :/
Same
I need your skills please!!!
Sound wise this or the Champion 20?
ıs it better than av15? I think its not, bot ı loved tones.
Would the mustang II be too loud for home use? If you keep the volume at 2-3 will it sound good? Or should I just get the Mustang I then?
Is it the pickups or how it's recorded, because I tested one of these on a Strat in the pawn shop today and it sounded like ass compared to this?
Idk mine sounds fantastic
And i play it with a stock ltd m-10 lol so its not a really good guitar. But it still nails most blues and rock and metal tones
JH Scofield Maybe because it was a pawn shop.
@@arisrap2951 there was nothing structurally wrong with it.
Teles cut more. Some times those fatter sounding guitars fuzz up easier.
I like mine quite a lot, but there is one thing that confuses me, on this day and ages, why is not a bluetooth on this thing, a lot of headphones are bluetooth.
How durable is this, I've heard modeling amps catch technical problems overtime, might get champion 20, that's solid state, this is digital, would be great to try this though.
can this amp use in pedal.. like use your feet to chance the sound to clean n metal??
Jeri Ko yep, I'm using Tech 21 RK 5 pedal and it sounds super awesome!
and its very loud too!
I run a wet/dry rig and was wondering if this little amp would be good for my clean tones on stage. Lugging around my Twin is a pain in the a$$ and getting the right tone out of it means cranking it. Which bars hate.
Should I get this or the LT25
Hi Shane, would you please kindly advise me this tone setting.Thank you! :)
I play only at home, for study. Should I pick this one or Champ 20?
This one , because it sounds amazing and the presets and the tuner just makes it amazing , and its durable.
+The guitar boss i mean mustang
I am new to electric guitar and bought this amp with another cheap hss guitar. How do you create those licks? Is it only by linking pentatonic patterns using caged or major scale? Or maybe blues scale?
Currently i am thinking whether I should buy a modelling amp like Mustang 1 or 15 watt tube amp for home practise. Which one do you recommend? What i concern most is whether a 15 watt amp is too loud to use at home. Thanks!
LokHei Wong A Mustang II would be a good choice for a home practice amp.
Hey Shane, can the mustang 1 be connected to a 4way footswitch, some say gt or what have you,,if yes then I need to get one. I can't seem to get a straight answer from the blokes at guitar center here in San Antone???
