  • In this interview during his participation in the 9th edition of the Spain-Philippines Forum, Mr. Richard Javad Heydarian, Senior Lecturer of the University of the Philippines, pointed out the role of this country in the region not only in economic terms, it has grown 7.6% and "our challenge is to keep growth by 5 to 6% in the next five years, but also in geopolitical terms, as the Philippines has revitalized ties with the United States of America "in ways that makes us very important for the future of a free and open Indo-Pacific". He also stated that while China itself dominates the huge part of trade investments, the United States, Japan and Europe must also be added to complete the big picture and in this sense, "the Philippines is also less dependent on China". He also said that in the struggle for hegemony between China and the US, "the future does not have to be necessarily defined by these two superpowers. The future could be completely multipolar in the best way possible, a truly competitive and inclusive order ". Mr. Javad Heydarian participated in the round table on " The Indo-Pacific Region: the role of Spain and The Philippines”.

Dominus illuminatio mea. Catholicism made Espana a great nation. The Philippines remained a faithful Catholic nation, even after the Americans introduced alternative belief systems. We embraced the truth, beauty and goodness of our Catholic identity closer to our hearts. We hope someday Espana will rediscover its faithful ally in Southeast Asia. We are eternally grateful. Perhaps someday we will be able to reciprocate what you've done for us. Viva nuestra Madre Espana! Viva Cristo Rey!
