To make the G to G7 easier, use an alternate fingering for the G. Keep finger 1 (index) unused, finger 2 on the low E fret three, finger 3 on the A string fret 2, and finger 4 (pinky) on the high E string fret three to form the chord with the same voicing as in the lesson. Using this fingering, shifting to the G7 is easy - Put finger 1 down on the high E string on fret 1 and lift finger 4. Hard to say, not hard to do.

Great lesson Lauren. Stretching your viewers. Just a tip I use if playing G and G7 in first position. I play G with last 3 fingers. Makes transition to G7 very easy. Also you can form a lot of new interesting chords.142k subscribers. Dynamite. I like your singing. I have backed up alot of top singers and I enjoy listening to you then some of the super stars. Thanks for video Lauren, found it very helpful especially the timing which I allways seem to struggle with. The only comment I would make is that the C7 chord sounded better when I replaced it with a C minor. Im guessing you used a C7 as this is an easier chord to play at beginner/inter level, & it's sounds ok. Cheers

G-G7,…here’s a thought,..instead of playing the G with your 1st finger on the 5th A-string 2nd fret for the B note , finger 2 on the 6th-low E-string for the G note and finger 3 on the 1st high E-string,…use your 2nd finger in place of your 1st finger, 3rd finger in place of your 2nd finger and your 4th(pinky) in place of your 3rd/ring finger,…from this alternate fingering for the G-chord it is an easy switch to the G7 chord,…also,.if you really like playing the Eagles,..using this alternate fingering will allow you to play 2 chords shapes essential to Eagles songs like Take it Easy and Lyin Eyes,….
    Type of C-chord,….c12,…(forgive me if that is wrong) High E 3-G-note, B 1-C, G open, D 2-B-note, A x-, Low E 3-G-note ,…by picking up your 1st and 2nd fingers you will here that very Eagles sound,..
    Then ,…High E 3-G-note, B 1-C, G 2nd fret A-note, D open , A x-, Low E 3-G-note ,…D7 I think,…this is used in Take it Easy,…G-C12-D7 and on Lyin Eyes when it goes to the chorus , G-C12 on and off,.. I don’t know why I wrote this I guess I felt inspired so I hope this helps and brings a smile to someone’s face.

“We do have to change our entire hand position. Unfortunately there is no easyvway to switch from G to G7.”
Say what?!? 🤔 Play G chord with pinky on 1st string, ring finger on 6th string and middle finger on 5th string. Change to G7 by lifting pinky off 1st string 3rd fret and placing index finger on 1st string 1st fret. Easy peasy! Everyone should learn to play a G chord like that since so many songs alternate between G chord and C chord also. Makes for a very easy transition between chords

Very nice you will have to post some pics so I can see what it looks like. I love classic cars. I have a 1980 Corvette.

@@LaurenBateman in your video you said that was difficult to switch to. I suggested 303003 as an alternative that would be easier. (But it should have been 3x3003) 😀

You should do some videos in vertical mode! I’d like to see you play guitar while standing up! I can only see your face and part of your shirt! I never get to see the entire guitar or the jeans you’re wearing! Just a thought!

Another great video Lauren, but don't you get demonetrised by playing the song at the end? seems a shame given how much time must go into these videos. Anyway keep up the great work I'm definitely a fan.

I do. I turned the ads off for the duration of the video. I won't make any money for my efforts. But at least you guys will have a good lesson. 😎

@@LaurenBateman , you will ultimately make money because people like me watch your videos, realize how much effort you put in, appreciate your teaching style, and then sign up for your course because we believe you should be paid. You end up with a great community of folks who want to take care of you. The care and positivity you put out comes back to you!
