this is very nice....if one wanted to sing it in the key linda ronstadt did what fret should capo be on? I cant seem to get a match with the piano recording

I checked out the Linda Ronstadt version and it sounds to me like she performs the song in key of B major - basically a major third up from the Eagles key of G major. So one way to play the song in that key is to move all the chords up a major 3rd or 4 frets on the guitar so the verse would start with B to B7 to E, etc, etc. Hope that helps and rock it out! Very much a beginner here, but I can say that this is probably one of the most insightful tutorials I’ve watched as of yet. Most vids don’t show chords with the exact placement of where your fingers are. This makes a world of difference to someone like myself. That barred C chord is a killer. Is there a substitution with a similar chord? Thank you and subbed!

Question - In the Intro where you have the Cm6/G chord, I'm playing it and it seems as if the high e string on the 8th fret should be left out. Or at least that how it sounds right to me as the high e sounds out of place. And of course, thank you so much for your fantastic lessons! They keep me playing my guitar!

As far as your question on that intro - I would leave that high e-string 8th fret in there as that is the C note and its a Cm6/G chord so I believe that C is correct. But if you think it sounds better leaving it out then by all means - play it the way that sounds best to you. I had to take some liberties with the transcription as I mentioned in the video as going from Piano to Guitar can be challenging as far as capturing all the right notes. Hi and thank you for watching this lesson - our apologies if any frustration - we try and provide lessons for all level players - beginners, intermediate and advanced. And there are so many different ways to play these popular songs - one of the amazing things about guitar is so many awesome options. In this lesson we state in the lesson that this is more an intermediate lesson and there will be a few barre chords. We wanted to provide an accurate representation of the song and this lesson was not intended for beginners. So we use a few barre chords and even teach that tricky piano into arranged for guitar at the end of the lesson. We are not "pushing" barre chords at all - we understand the challenges of playing and changing barre chords, in fact we offer a long very detailed free lesson on barre chord playing techniques and changing tips - we just wanted to accurately play the song in this version that we transcribed on guitar. And often in our lessons we do offer "substitute" chords for barre chords - like playing a F5 chord instead of the full barre chord -we do that a lot. @@EpicGuitarInstruction I think, regarding his particular song, and the way you present it you've skipped "Intermediate" and gone directly to Advanced-Imtermediate/Intermediate. Although I am only a "beginner" guitarist- I am an advanced performing musician, on 7 other instruments... This song is 100% achievable with simple chords, and maybe a few flourishes and embellishments such as hammer-ons, pull -offs, slides etc. and is EXTREMELY discouraging the way you taught it. Had I not known better, and was just a couple of weeks into guitar, I would have probably thrown it in the closet and given up.... THANKFULLY!! I DID know better, and explored a dozen other videos online that were not anywhere as complex or demanding as your video. In the very beginning, you encourage the player to "keep pushing" themselves... Playing an instrument is supposed to be FUN, not internally frustrating. Yes, setting goals is great...but really? MY goal is almost a reality. My goal was to be able to play 10 instruments by age 60. My guitar goal is to be able to have 60 songs memorized to perform around campfires and group settings....I don't NEED to "keep pushing" to become a shredder extrodinaire...The next Eddie Van Halen or. Andres Segovia.... By Summer, I'll be 70% along into my goal. No need to learn F#m12 bar chord...is there? Maybe you should make some simplified videos ??
I've been a campfire strummer for 35 years and just last month plunged back in to get serious about getting my skills into shape. I really appreciate this arrangement, actually -- there's enough here I can do without thinking about that the parts that do challenge me actually do challenge me. this is very nice....if one wanted to sing it in the key linda ronstadt did what fret should capo be on? I cant seem to get a match with the piano recording

I checked out the Linda Ronstadt version and it sounds to me like she performs the song in key of B major - basically a major third up from the Eagles key of G major. So one way to play the song in that key is to move all the chords up a major 3rd or 4 frets on the guitar so the verse would start with B to B7 to E, etc, etc. Hope that helps and rock it out! Very much a beginner here, but I can say that this is probably one of the most insightful tutorials I’ve watched as of yet.
Most vids don’t show chords with the exact placement of where your fingers are.
This makes a world of difference to someone like myself.
That barred C chord is a killer. Is there a substitution with a similar chord?

Question - In the Intro where you have the Cm6/G chord, I'm playing it and it seems as if the high e string on the 8th fret should be left out. Or at least that how it sounds right to me as the high e sounds out of place. And of course, thank you so much for your fantastic lessons! They keep me playing my guitar!

As far as your question on that intro - I would leave that high e-string 8th fret in there as that is the C note and its a Cm6/G chord so I believe that C is correct. But if you think it sounds better leaving it out then by all means - play it the way that sounds best to you. I had to take some liberties with the transcription as I mentioned in the video as going from Piano to Guitar can be challenging as far as capturing all the right notes. Hi and thank you for watching this lesson - our apologies if any frustration - we try and provide lessons for all level players - beginners, intermediate and advanced. And there are so many different ways to play these popular songs - one of the amazing things about guitar is so many awesome options. In this lesson we state in the lesson that this is more an intermediate lesson and there will be a few barre chords. We wanted to provide an accurate representation of the song and this lesson was not intended for beginners. So we use a few barre chords and even teach that tricky piano into arranged for guitar at the end of the lesson. We are not "pushing" barre chords at all - we understand the challenges of playing and changing barre chords, in fact we offer a long very detailed free lesson on barre chord playing techniques and changing tips - we just wanted to accurately play the song in this version that we transcribed on guitar. And often in our lessons we do offer "substitute" chords for barre chords - like playing a F5 chord instead of the full barre chord -we do that a lot. @@EpicGuitarInstruction I think, regarding his particular song, and the way you present it you've skipped "Intermediate" and gone directly to Advanced-Imtermediate/Intermediate. Although I am only a "beginner" guitarist- I am an advanced performing musician, on 7 other instruments...
This song is 100% achievable with simple chords, and maybe a few flourishes and embellishments such as hammer-ons, pull -offs, slides etc. and is EXTREMELY discouraging the way you taught it.
Had I not known better, and was just a couple of weeks into guitar, I would have probably thrown it in the closet and given up....
THANKFULLY!! I DID know better, and explored a dozen other videos online that were not anywhere as complex or demanding as your video.
In the very beginning, you encourage the player to "keep pushing" themselves... Playing an instrument is supposed to be FUN, not internally frustrating. Yes, setting goals is great...but really? MY goal is almost a reality. My goal was to be able to play 10 instruments by age 60.
My guitar goal is to be able to have 60 songs memorized to perform around campfires and group settings....I don't NEED to "keep pushing" to become a shredder extrodinaire...The next Eddie Van Halen or. Andres Segovia....
By Summer, I'll be 70% along into my goal. No need to learn F#m12 bar chord...is there?
Maybe you should make some simplified videos ??
I've been a campfire strummer for 35 years and just last month plunged back in to get serious about getting my skills into shape. I really appreciate this arrangement, actually -- there's enough here I can do without thinking about that the parts that do challenge me actually do challenge me. I think the difficulty level is dialed in quite nicely and I appreciate the slow, thoughtful delivery and walkthrough that allowed me to play along.
