In this video I build a stand for my headphones. I go over how I came up with the design. How to create compound miters or bevels more easily. How to use tapes as clamps. And more. I also talk problems I had in fabricating this piece, and how I thought around them. In the beginning and end I touch on music and art. Hope you all enjoy!

You are making some of the best woodworking videos out there! Keep it up!
Thanks Man...appreciate the encouragement! BTW. I have one on the back burner that is very similar to one you just put out...so I'm going to have to reference your video. I think I have a good audio joke planned for when I reference yours. We'll see how it comes out.
Looking forward to it!
Completely...some of the best videos out there!
Truth!
Make Something nothing better than yours David!
Great Video but next time can you please put the diagrams and designs in the description so we can do it to
Chris, you're killing me with these awesome videos! Loving the voice overs, killer motion graphics/drawings and really dig these smaller projects. Much more approachable for me!
Thanks! Glad you're digging the videos and projects. If you feel like take a crack at it...go for it. Just send me a pic :)
i love how you go from being in depth about the angles in your cuts to just sort of winging it
Haha. I fly by the seat of my pants.
The music is good, very calming.
Thanks!
this guy should have alot more subscribers
Thanks Brian...just spread the good word :)
I like your ideology about everything can be art. Ive been saying since i was a kid that art is the foundation for every in life
I gotta say, I really love the sort of modern woodworking you got going. not just in your ideas or in you incredibly constructed videos, but simply your persona, I guess.
I've recently gotten into simple woodworking ( rings ) and I'm loving it, but to be honest I haven't found many young men near my age to fully sink into the hobby.
You're an inspiring man and I'm loving all your videos and content. God Bless!
Thanks Evan...appreciate the kind words :)
I am building this over the weekend!
Nice. Tag me on instagram :)
You are awesome at what you do not just what you make , what you talk about, you show how to woodwork and give advice , keep it up
FINALLY! A good looking easy to build headphone stand! Thanks for this!!
You're welcome :)
From this simple tree you Chris did something beautiful, I'm flattered
Thanks :)
is it weird that i find these super soothing to watch...?
When you had three designs side by side, I knew that you were going for the middle one. You had same exact shape when you made the cabinet few videos back. But I like that shape, and I think it little bit makes for your style.
Thanks Tapio...you know me too well :)
The concealed gluing sequence was exceptionally well done
Thanks Tina.
Excellent craftsmanship! I like the idea of the painters tape to keep the joints tight while the glue dried.
Please don't change a thing Chris, and the music was just fine. Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thanks Deb. Appreciate that. It came out OK. But I like when my friend Chris does it more. Plus it is less work :)
Product Designer from Scotland here, love your videos man. Big fan of the tone you set throughout and the overall style you approach your work with. Keep it up!
Thanks Duncan...really appreciate that. What kind of stuff do you design? Greetings from the US
I design various giftware ranges and manufacturing tooling for a drinks company in London. I always loved and very much miss being in the workshop in university, your garage is the dream for further down the line when I'm out of London. Where in the US are you based?
Can I ask, is it sketchup you use predominantly for your CAD?
Hey Duncan. Nice. That's good that you're in an indisustry where you can use your skills/creativity, and I'm sure you'll have opportunities to get back to the things you want to design down the road. I'm in Southern California, and sketchup is the only CAD I use. Its either that or pencil and paper.
Nicely done Chris!
Always find myself coming back here for inspiration in design and ideas! Take away all the fancy tools and what you get to see is a true artisan with the sensibilities of a poet and a talent in woodworking that's unparalleled. Thanks for this! Like listening to Anthony Bourdain talk about local cultures in ways that really have an impact on the soul.
some of the absolute best woodworking videos out there! production is outstanding
Thanks! Appreciate it!
I like how you describe angles in terms of "degrees off of 90"
Makes the cuts seem less arbitrary. Great video :)
Thanks. I often struggle with that when describing things. A lot of cabinets I make are technically 75* and 105*, but saying 15 less/more than 90 seems to describe it better.
This is really a beautiful piece of art. You present it so well it makes it impossible to not love it. The design is just... wow.
Thanks Jordan. Really appreciate that
I love this design. I am going to make a stand up handpan stand with black walnut with that profile. Two sections with the side profile. A hinge on the front. It will be fun. Thanks for your awesome video.
Nice
it looks so simple but I don't know if I could ever do that. Looks great!
Thanks Draax. Never know unless you try. BTW. Watched your 100k unboxing video the other day. Awesome stuff. Can't wait to get there.....hopefully.
No doubts from me!
@@Foureyes.Furniture 4 years later with over 550k subs!
I really dig that design. I've been wanting to build a headphone stand for a while now, but could never find a design I liked. This, though, I really dig it.
Thanks Dave. Feel free to use it for yourself. Appreciate it!
Absolutely love your channel!
I've been at a standstill on a coat rack because the hooks have been looking clunky. All the angles you cut on this piece made me realize what I need to do. Cheers!
Nice! Glad I could help :)
Chris Salomone if you're curious: plus.google.com/115786836129754473729/posts/6k6dbfrLpHd
I like the spirit of zen in your work. and the music as well.
I actually love when youtubers remind me to like because seems to make a difference to them and I really often just forget... love your videos, man! hope this small gesture really does help back a little... cheers!
Thanks Nelson. Yeah. That's how I always was as a viewer. I liked the stuff I was watching, but never thought about clicking the thumbs up. If everyone does it, it really helps in terms of the way the video is recommended, and growing the audience, etc... so I really appreciate it.
This is a really cool design. And no need to worry about the quality of the music. It is way better than most woodworking videos here on youtube.
I must say though, I was a little surprised when you cut the tapers at the beginning. My instinct would be to build it all and glue it up. then cut the tapers. That way you don't have to worry about how to hold the pieces while you are working, and the tapers are guaranteed to lign up.
Thanks Neistridlar. I thought about doing that...Too big for the table saw, but you could do it on the band saw. I was worried that I would get some kind of crazy tear out or something though. If I had to make multiple. I'd definitely try it out and be willing to sacrifice one...b/c that would save a ton of time and make it simple.
Why is this video so relaxing?
I love this. I actually need a headphones stand, I am making this tomorrow. Thank you for sharing your measurements and angles.
Thanks Robinson. Send me a pic when you're finished. And be careful :)
Have to say, I have always been a fan of Woodworking videos, and living vicariously through them. I've watched several different channels, and was recommended to you Via RUclips. After watching a couple of your videos, I must say, I have fallen in love with your style. The voice over with the soft acoustic music in the back makes it for easy listening, as well as easier to retain the information I learn. When my paycheck hits, you will be receiving another Patreon Subsciber or whatever the name is. You have amazed me. Continue the good work. Would love to have a chat with you in the future.
Cheers.
Hey Alex...That is awesome - thanks! I'm always happy to help in any way I can, so feel free to get in touch via email, here, etc... I get a good number of messages so i can't always respond right away, but I do try to get back to people.
Just started watching your channel. You are a rock star man. Inspiration at its finest right here. Thanks for being you!
:-)
Thanks for watching me
Great video. Tapering jig video next? I needs.
Haha...probably not. But I do really need one. Thanks man
Best pro tip I have ever heard.
:)
Just trying to help people out
Your videos is art your projects are the awesomest from the awesome
Thanks Jan!
One. Two. One, two, three... Sound of Silence -- a literal interpretation of the Simon & Garfunkel classic by Foureyes!
love this man, late night woodworking videos make me motivated to be creative in the morning
:)
To cut the taper, I'd mark a line, cut it close to the line with a bandsaw, and then use a router table and straight edge to trim it flat and straight. (all done after the miter cuts)
That would work. Lots of ways to skin a cat. :)
well done to Chris, congratulations, man
:)
Chris Salomone :)
Very stylish, nice work.
Thank you!
Thank you man for the video i made my own headphone stand and i love it
Awesome build. I love it. I am also stealing it. GO CUBS!
Very sleek. Great design
Thanks JWF!
Ah yes, I'm a big fan of 'arm/elbow/hand-cam' for a truly professional presentation. ;)
Beautiful stuff, man - always looking forward to more.
I'm working on more "shoe shots". Preferably the type where I left the camera on accidentally, and pointing on the ground.
What a great project! I've been working on my version of a headphone rest as well (almost there, though). Hey, the top dado cut IS actually necessary. It's an indicator for an intended object to be placed on.
Thanks Krnxemb. Good point. Plus it makes it look cooler :)
great design!
That's a damn-sight better than the one I made a few years ago- I took a couple kitchen worktop samples ( 20x15x4cm ) and screwed them together to make an inverted T shape, then finished them with a few coats of Danish Oil. Crude but effective- I think I may have to make a new stand after seeing this video, now that I have a band saw with a tilting table...
Hey Neil. Thanks! I say you go for it. Just be careful with that new saw :)
Awesome video dude, from woodworking to video directing everything is on the point.
Thanks Saurnick! Appreciate the support.
You make the best videos. Please never stop doing what you are doing.
Thanks Jonathan. No plans on stopping :)
i'm liking these videos and learning more from them than i am at college right now. . . this is unbelievable, and i'll take that tip on gluing into consideration
Thanks Baracuda...that either says a lot about me, or very little about your college :)
this is the best build video on youtube:)
Thanks Otto....that's quite the statement, but I appreciate it for sure :)
i think you should build a phone charging dock!
Your videos are art.
Thanks Lucas :)
you could make an entire video about how to square up a board, make it 45 minutes long with no talking and i would still be mesmerized by the video!
Challenge accepted :)
You deserve the like man
Thanks Alex
this is real ART
thank you
Thanks Saleem. Appreciate that :)
Another awesome build and video... the design is rad - thanks for sharing
Nicely done man. Totally stealing this design.
Haha...thanks Jeremy! Go for it :)
I'm gonna try making this with hand tools. It's beautiful
Update I failed. Really need some better tools
made this out of cardboard. thank you for ur beautiful design.
You are great man!
Thanks a lot for this awesome video ! It´s nice to have a "simpler" channel since all other woodworking channel´s i found so far where building big furnature and stuff like that. Now i can see and hopefully soon try some smaller stuff first!
Thanks C. :)
This is my new favorite woodworking channel. Keep up the good work !
Thanks Kestas :)
Pretty amazing, I gotta take a peek on a few more of your videos.
Thanks! Hope you like them as much :)
Great design and build, thanks a lot!
Great miter video! This one too!
Yes! Video time!
Hope you dug it :)
Made three of these for Christmas presents. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Eric, do you have any plans available for this? I am planning to make few gifts
Wow! I would buy this 👍🏻
You can't spell "fart" without art.
Awesome to see you getting recognized by some of the big guys!
Thanks Ant. Yeah...always cool to hear from people that you've been watching for a while.
Really nice lines
my first time watching one of your videos. just wanted to say awesome project! and an easy no brainer on hitting the subscribe button.
Awesome. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the rest too :)
Chris Salomone one more question...what oil are you putting on your walnut? (seems like its the same theoughout your videos) I just havent heard you say anything about it
Just now got around to watching your q&a video. Keep up the great work. Absolutely love your filming style and music choices!
Appreciate it Matthew :)
This video is oddly therapeutic
This is the best headphones wood stand for me. My buddy actually helped me with this, so I am now left with gluing, sanding and maybe oiling. If anyone needs a SketchUp drawing of this, let me know. Hopefully it is ok with author to share my 3d model of his concept 😉
I take one!

@@stasiso thanks for this! I’m going to give making these a go
Beautiful. Just beatiful
Thanks Walker!
Pro Tip: mount the camera on the assembly table when drilling pocket holes so your audience gets a visual representation of Playstation DualShock (this is in another woodworker's video, not my own) 😁
This one served as some awesome inspiration.
Always love your designs.
Thanks Adam...appreciate it :)
Recently found your channel and have watched most of your videos. Really enjoy the videos; you have an unique and enjoyable style.
It's nice to know that there is another woodworker in SoCal besides myself.
Thanks Julian...we're a rare breed I guess
Do you plan on making more small projects? Things that you may put around the house to compliment other wood stuff? Such as your coaster holder.
At some point I'm sure I will. I've just had a lot of call lately for larger things. I tend to kind of build what is needed, or that I get interested in.
"You can't spell flatulence without art". If only there was a similar word you could spell art from. Great video!
;)
How have I only just found this channel........ Earned another sub. :) great video and awesome build 👍
Appreciate it Jay :)
It would be nice to see text measurements either on the video or in the link section.
It all starts with an awesome design! great video!
Thanks Josh. Appreciate it!
Simply wow.. you did your work so patiently.. and not only woodwork.. even your video editing and voice overs was top notch and really went through lot of planning and good editing skills.. hats off.. i hve liked and subscribed.. you totally deserve it.. cheers
Thanks...appreciate it :)
Complete beginner question - what do you use to finish/stain the wood in your projects? It always turns out so natural looking/doesn’t look like you just slapped some stain on.
What a great video. Your narration makes me feel like I am watching the Sandlot ahaha, so good!
Brian Schnurr haha, I felt the same way!
I have to admit that I've never seen the sandlot in it's entirety. Am I going to have my "Child of the 80s/90s" card revoked?
Thank you!
I am so happy I bumped into your videos. You have an amazing gift my friend - do keep on doing stuff you do :)
Thanks Sasatrif. Appreciate it :)
Your videos make me smile and want to make something! 😏 thank you!
This is alot better honestly if u don't like the wood design u can just paint it to whatever color u like and put a sticker if u want. But to me a black paint is already good enough for me and not a waste of money.
Great explain!
Nice video! Lots of crazy angles, well done!
Hey Paul...thanks man. It's true. of the 18 faces on this project, I think 14 of them have a weird angle cut in.
Love your work! You should make an iPhone dock
Not a bad idea...thanks!
It's always a treat to see that 1 by your name in the subs list! I love the crazy compound angles in this one. It really makes a simple piece into something profoundly interesting. Nice tunes btw!
Thanks Robert...appreciate it. :)
nice work, very inspirational.
Been watching your vids for awhile now. Love the woodwork, and your dry sense of humor. And though I understand the patreon plugs/etc, when they fall mid-video it interrupts the whole vibe that makes your vids unique. I don't read your vids as how-tos, but visually interesting inspirational videos forwoodwork and related philosophies. Keep up the good work, but think about why you make you tube content. If the answer is the same as when you made your first video then carry on. But if you're unsure, then go back to the start. I'll be watching regardless.
Hey Maffew. Thanks. I get what you're saying. I try to keep them short and fairly natural...from my experimentation, and reading that I've done, the ads just work so much better in the middle. I'm thinking of ways where I can make them more entertaining. Just gotta get creative with it somehow.
