you know a video is good when you feel like stealing the entire project. That's what I want to do. Du är ett geni! By the way - podcast is in the folder.
I too was looking to build my own to save money, but after watching this video, I rather pay than to do all this. You are a master at the craft and I am in no way capable of doing something like this easily in a short amount of time.
I’m sure you could make one a lot simpler with some wood that was already square and planed on all sides and use that for the legs as well and you needn’t have a load of tools. I wish I was a master 😂 I’m still learning everyday. Thanks so much for watching
Thanks so much and I’m excited that you’re thinking about building your own. The desk mat was just a cheap one from Amazon and the desk top is a worktop from ikea
The desk is really nice. The only thing I would change is going with solid walnut for the riser to improve the aesthetics. I suffer from OCD and trivial things can become big annoyances.
@@SteveBellCreates I was thinking and looking at the shelf, the lower shelf level is kind of thin. Could you put a brace on the lower center area for more support? I was going to say a desk would be nice, but I actually like the layout and desk that you have. Maybe a nice arm rest for your keyboard made from different types of wood. I made a few our of scrap wood that people give me.
@@SteveBellCreates I use 1x4 (american standard) My keyboard has a 1inch lip on the front so it really helps. Most gaming keyboards are about the same.
Thanks very much. I 3D printed my drawers using a file that is available on a website printables.com just search for grovemade on printables and you will find them. You can easily make one with minimal tools good luck. If you don’t have a 3D printer a friend maybe able to help out cheers and thanks for watching
This is the best DIY desk shelf I’ve seen. Well done mate. Defo looks as good as those expensive American ones. However I must admit if you spent £30 on just glue and that small second shelf plywood. I think overall if you’re having to buy everything it probably won’t be that cheap to make. And grovemade do use premium materials I’ll give them that. Plus the labour as this does take some craftsmanship and mustn’t forget taxes. As well as other costs I’ve not mentioned I think it can start to add up. Although still I’m not buying one nor am I advocating others to buy, I can understand why they’re expensive now.
Thanks so much I’m glad you liked it . I only spent £13 on the glue I had the veneer for free but you could buy self adhesive veneer. The thing that bugged me was the cost of postage from grovemade to the Uk was so much. It for me it was worth my while to make my own. Once again thanks so much wor watching and your great comments
@@SteveBellCreateshaha yes it's on the list but it keeps getting nudged down by other stuff. I want to use some Ash which is a bit daunting as it'll be expensive and I'll have cant-mess-up syndrome
Thank you for this video! I really want to make my own desk shelf so this is really helpful. Is it possible if I could get all the measurements you used? 😁
Hi thanks for watching. My shelf is 23cm wide 12 cm tall and 116cm long. the top is 18mm thick and the legs are 30mm thick. I just used what I had in the workshop. Good luck building yours
I was looking for making my own desk shelf weeks ago. I've made new research about it and glad to find a new video about it ! How did you made these trays ? I would like to build same as yours !!!

really nice my friend..... where are you based ?.... i live in manchester, and would love some guidance on making one of those for my studio.... thanks so much for sharing....
So talented and skilled. Jealous. It looks premium as. If I make one myself I would probably end up spending more than retail and a half decent monitor stand 😅
