I’m the person who commissioned Keith to make the head phone stand . Have been using it for a few weeks now, haven’t had any issues with it tipping over. Great job Keith. Thanks again.
Another way to get the right gap for the lamination is to use a pattern or flush trim router bit the same size as the total thickness of lamination. This does entail first having a template for the original curve. Use this template to rout a groove, then a rough cut down the middle. Rout each piece with the flush trim bit again and there you have two halves. This means you can make jigs of any size you need as long as you have the initial curves. I have templates for various curves for putting laminated inlays into cutting boards. Excellent video, keep up the good work.
That looks great. As others have mentioned some weight in the base could help the tipping issue. Personally I'd router out a rebate and fill it with readily available lead shot ballast, mixed with epoxy or polyester resin. Then maybe some felt to hide it.
👍 for an enjoyable vid - thanks. Slight design flaw maybe... The padding on the inside of the headband will be taking punishment in two places. A curved receptacle would have been better IMO.
Very enjoyable video, I like the table saw trick for cutting this strips of wood, l always fine they go down the side of the blade when I use the fence on my saw.
Great product keith. This is one that really stands out to us as a product that could really be considered as something g to take further. Great design concept.
At the end when you tipped the stand back, I initially thought , “what a shame” .... but then my creative side kicked in to see a twist to the design. (Can you see it?) Anyways, I love this and it inspires me to try some bent laminations too. Thanks Keith!
Really like this Keith im going to build this for my sons 18th birthday present in apr. Ive been watching you since August last year and really enjoy your channel, i really enjoyed the video of you and your partner making the gin box great video and very funny. Cheers Karl
Always interesting to listen to the soundtrack of your projects. A whole different story to the woodwork. Bob Dylan seems to be fading, but that's understandable. Can't listen to the same thing for ever.
honestly most of the time I just put the radio on nowadays, just for some background noise while I work, but they play a lot of rubbish! At the moment though I'm enjoying a bit of Planet Waves era, but also listening to some Heart and The Swirlies, and a bit of PJ Harvey 👍
@@RagnBoneBrown With my phone linked up to an amplifier and speakers, and a subscription to a streaming service, I am in heaven. Just a shame those pesky power tools get in the way of the enjoyment.
what a great project again. Question to anyone that can help: I don't have a bansaw. Would I be able to make that arc-cut (for the template) with a jig-saw? I know it wouldn't be as accurate, but do you guys think it would work?
actually, I think I might have found a possible solution down in the comments (thanks Baytree Woodcraft :-) ) I'll try making the template with my router
Great vid as always. Just a thought, could you us the band saw to cut the stripes? My thinking is the blade width is narrower then the table saw blade, therefore less material is wasted?
Thanks. It would definitely waste less wood - I was losing 3mm of wood for every 1.2mm yielded. However the bandsaw doesn't cut so cleanly or accurately so I think it would result in more gaps, which is why I opted for it.
I really like this one, Keith. One thought on making it less prone to tipping... I reckon having two base pieces would be the way to go. Each one slightly narrower than the one you made, so they almost parallels the two pieces on top. Looking forward to your next. :-)
Good video with many interesting techniques. Thanks for sharing. The final result look gorgeous and I'm sure your client is happy with it. What is the capacity of your table saw (thickness cutting of wood at 90 and 45 degrees and how many Watts or HP has it?
What happened to the video? It's not in the list of your videos anymore. I wanted to rewatch te video because of some techniques you used. And the video was not there anymore! But YT has a history option. And when I clicked on the the video appeared (as if nothing had happened) to my big surprise.
It shows for me (on my second account) I think RUclips no longer shows every video from every channel you are subscribed to unless you click the bell icon
The extra cut is needed as these are become two different radii (inner and outer curve) when you insert the pieces for lamination. Probably not a big problem when the thickness is only a few mm but start going over 15mm and you get gaps in the curves.

This is something I have been wanting to try Keith. I do agree. A thicker base is needed . Keep up the good work!
Cheers Chem 👍
Great build Keith. I shall be making one of these very soon.
Would make a great gift for a gamer! And I've raised 3!! lol
Very nice. The tip for the sacrificial fence is gold-dust.
Council should fine anyone throwing away empty yoghurt pots. They are so handy!
Your work just keeps getting better and better Keith!

Magic man. Good tuneage
Yes!
One of my all time favourite albums
Nice work Keith. Proper one of a kind. Couldn't buy it in the shops. Can't beat the beauty of wood mate
I saw it on facebook, and now the video. Thanks Keith.
Looks like this design would make for a cool lamp. Great work.
I always thought bent lamination would be more difficult. Thanks for setting me straight. I will trying some of my own soon. Thanks.
Good evening from Greece. Great project. I will try it. Thanks.
A very simple and elegant design. I like it!
👍 for an enjoyable vid - thanks. Slight design flaw maybe... The padding on the inside of the headband will be taking punishment in two places. A curved receptacle would have been better IMO.
A nice piece Keith and yes it probably would benifit from a bit of padding but you can get carried away I'm sure it will be fine as it is 👍
Good consideration, could stick some leather there.
Very enjoyable video, I like the table saw trick for cutting this strips of wood, l always fine they go down the side of the blade when I use the fence on my saw.
yeah - I hate that!
That is a cool project and i really loved that jig you made !!!!! That patern will be nice also for desk lamp !!!
This is a great piece with a nice shape.
Wonderful project. Very stylish looking final product.
Well done. Beautiful piece.
This looks so good, I love the design. I think it would look great with a thick white base, maybe with some metal embedded into it for weight?
well done Keith. another great build.
perfect! as for the weight in the base, the part that attaches could have a flat weight under it, if you cut the channel deeper.
Fantastic end product, especially for a first effort, great job mate👍
Nice Work

Cool little project Keith
Really beautiful work.
I like the look. You could always hide a metall piece or a magnet underneath to ad a little weight and not compromice on the looks.
Great build I think I will give it a try
You are a highly creative maker.
Nice build Keith, I like your approach and I can see me trying your bent lamination style one of these days. Well done mate.

Cracking build Keith!
Great video, loving the wood bending/laminating hope there will be more in the future.....😁😁😁
Nice! Would like to try some bent lamination myself. Thanks for sharing!
Don't stop , wonderful project more pls 😅
Pretty much spot on there Keith.. great idea..👌
Greetings from Munich..
Really good mate really enjoyed this one..
Excellent design; this turned out really well. I'm sure the second one will sell very quickly. Best wishes
One, if not you best!
cheers!
Nice project Keith! turned out very nice Thank you for sharing the video with us.👍😎JP

Nice job thanks
Thanks for the video.
That hot glue sacrificial fence trick is genius!
wrap your roller in cling film no waste glue and roller is good for next use

it looks really nice, good job ^^
I'll add an idea ( like I know anything lol) maybe you could router in a space to install a charging stone into the bass. I love the look of it.

thanks Hans. I don't know off the top of my head, but if you google dw745 I'm sure there are some specs online
@@RagnBoneBrown Thanks, I found something.
Great video, where did you get the idea for bent lamination ?! cool idea !
it's something I've wanted to try for a while, I've seen a bunch of cool bent lamination projects on RUclips which inspired me
Nice
Silicone basting brushes work well you dont even need to clean it when is dry you pull the glue off easy
No need for a bigger base router some holes on underneath and add metal inserts
Good work verry nice
What kind of epoxy do you use?
the cheapest stuff I can find. It all works well.

Not sure you needed the extra cut on the curve of ya form it would have given you the gap you needed when clamping .

Le casque n'est pas au dessus de la base, le support est trop léger, la courbure risque fortement de vriller...
