Ahead of the Tokyo Olympics, gymnast Simone Biles is starring in a Facebook Watch show that gives viewers a look into her life. On the Simone vs. Herself episode released on Tuesday, we got a raw look at her relationship with Houston Texans safety, Jonathan Owens and you won’t believe it - but when they met - he didn’t know who she was!
Simon Biles could win up to five gold medals at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics, and already has 5 Olympic medals to her name. She’s a household name and has done numerous brand sponsorships and appearance -- but when she first met her boyfriend he didn't know who she was - and didn’t know the level of her fame.
In the show he said, “I never really watched gymnastics before I started talking to her. When I met her, I honestly didn’t know who she was. It was just kind of like, ‘Oh she’s got a lot of followers.”
Uh, yeah she does! Simone has 4.2 million followers on Instagram, while Jonathan has 74 thousand -- we’re not comparing, but she’s a big deal! He knows that now though. He said he would tell people about her and they would say “Simone Biles?! You for real, the gymnast?! And I’m like Man, she’s good like that?! I didn’t know!”

It warms my heart to read that Simone is happy. I always love when people find their soul mate. I found mine when I was 17 1/2. We married when I was 19, and he died when I was 28. I am 61 now. I never successfully moved on. I will see him on the other side.

This is an interesting relationship. Both look to be humble and supportive. They understand the world the other comes from being athletes. Both have a grounding and were well raised by family with strong ties to their families. Both have a strong work ethic but, also know how to relax, have fun and take it easy. Neither seems to be some creep out to use people or be snotty or think they are so special. They are down to earth. Best of all they love dogs. Seems to be a good match here

She will make him a better football player, too. Her training is intense…more intense than his, because every detail of your body movement matters, so the training has to cater to that.
In football, there is heavy detail, but the details are different. For a DB, they’re more about positioning, hand use, angles, and footwork. For gymnasts, every joint, none and muscle in your body must work in concert at all times.
I think I now have a cavity because this is so sweet. I hope they have nothing but good times and joy in their future.
