Barcelona suffer their heaviest defeat in European competition since 1997 as Bayern thrash them 4-0 in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal tie. Curiously, when the two teams last met in Europe, back in 2008/09, Barca had thrashed Bayern 4-0 in the first leg of their quarterfinal tie at the Nou Camp

@@maluquack3867 Yes. Bayern at the time were not dominating the league. Dortmund had won the past 2 Bundesliga so it was more competitive.
Also, the quality of the teams they beat in 2013 were much better compared to the team they beat in 2020.

It really was a great team and at the time it didn't have that much dominance in Germany, but what Bayern did in 2020 was absurd. winning every game they played in the champions league, despite only having faced much more limited teams and having suffered in some games... maybe the 2013 one is better, but it will never be better than the squad with Breitner, Sepp Maier, Beckenbauer and Muller.

ironic when this same Barcelona team won their 2 UCLs in 2009 and 2011 only thanks to the help of the referees lol (Chelsea 2009 semi-final scandal and Arsenal 2011 round of 16 scandal). Without the help of the refs, Barca would on 3 UCLs and Pep would have 0 UCLs today.

Why is it a foul? Müller stood strongly, Alba ran into him. It's not like Müller pushed Alba or something, he just knew where Alba would go and stood in the way, but he didn't make a move to unbalance the Spaniard

Still annoyed by how bad the referee was. 2 penalties not given, 3 of 4 goals shouldn´t count... Yes, Bayern was better in the end, but this should have been a 3-0 at most. This simply wasn´t Barca at its´ prime anymore.

Bayern should have gotten two penalties in the first half because Pique and Sanchez played the ball with their hands. So in the end the final score would be the same.
