    Hi Chris, thanks for posting this video! My motor is pulling water, the sprinklers come up and water comes out for about 10 to 20 seconds, then the motor shuts down. What do you think the problem might be?

    I look at your video on Troubleshooting a Jet Pump: Motor Overheating, because my jet pump motor is overheating. Then you advise, "Try to find out why your motor is overheating." I mistakenly thought you might give me some fresh ideas on that...

    Hey brother I left my water hose on forgot to shut it off. Well I got home and the motor was super hot & the points was stuck together, I let it cool and all the 1HP motor will do is errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and not pump no water. Do you think I burned it up considering it ran for 15+ hrs and it didn’t kick the breaker in the house

    My cooling fan on my motor sounds like it’s slowing down and about to die just before the motor shuts off, what could that be? The pump works good it’s just this sound has started and I’m not sure what to do next? Thanks for any advice!

    I just installed a new j7 motor and pump from a j5. Tank had a leak so I changed everything. The new motor would over heat with only about 10-15 psi in the tank. Any idea why. Yes voltage is set for 230. Put the old pump on and ran fine. I’m stumped

    Hi Chris..your videos are very helpful…I have an Everbilt 3/4 hp shallow well jet pump that keeps popping off the 1” threaded sked 80 PVC discharge pipe, and also loosens the 1 1/4” threaded Sked 80 PVC intake pipe as well. I’m pretty sure this is caused by the pump overheating, as I just put a new pressure tank and properly adjusted (35/55) pressure switch, along with new Sked 80 PVC fittings, and when I tested everything, there were no leaks and everything seemed fine. But then today the pvc fittings popped off again…could a malfunctioning check valve on the intake side of the pump be the cause of this? thanks for your help…Cheers! woody, Guam Island

      Not sure if you solved this issue but I had one doing the same thing. My pressure switch was bad causing to run constantly and it would pop the pvc right out of the threads. I had to replace the switch a well as the pvc.

    Is there a reset button on the motor if it overheated and doesn’t run? Recently there was a brown out and the house had half power; I think to pump was trying to run during that time. Now it’s no starting - I checked power in; contact relay is touching but not motor action or even a hum … any ideas?

    Chris, If I asked you really, really nice like... can you do a video on your Zoeller Model 314 utility pump? Inquiring minds want to know about the applications utility pumps could be used in. Could you use one to drain down a water heater faster than if you just opened the drain valve and let the heater drain by gravity? What other creative ways could a utility pump be used?

    I have very similar symptoms with an in-well pump. It will ALWAYS lose 100% pressure EVERY single time my water filter regenerates. It kicks back on within about 90 seconds but ends up leaving air in the system. I've had a local well company come out to troubleshoot but it only happens on very high water usage (more than 3-4 gallons per minute for 5 to 10 minutes.)
    I don't think the well is even close to running dry since I can run water for literally hours at 2 gallons per minute. Any tips for what could be wrong or what to check into that would possibly give me a direction to investigate? (It's been going on for more than 3 years and we have just accepted it, I don't want to do that anymore...)

    Here's a really, really , dumb question that I really need answered. I just had my 350 gal hr pool pump konk out. The dam thing is almost $200 to replace so being the son of plumber that I am, I just hooked up an old pump I had lying around and used it. It's a Flotec fp5172-08 1.5 hp sprinkler pump. I have it wired for 120v. My problem is it keeps overheating. I've blown it out cleaned it up, checked for air leaks etc but...have used it in the past as part of a solar heating system I Macguyvered up as a pool heater a couple of years ago. Worked pretty well but it had the same problem then too, just not as often. Now it runs for 60 seconds and stops and yes it's hot, also, It is Nearly 100 degrees here today so maybe ??

      All single phase motors have thermal cutouts in them, yes.

    My motor is smoking when turned on. Water is coming fine out of it, pressure is bit decreased. What do you suggest the problem is?

    • @RCworstwater
      @RCworstwater  3 года назад +1

      Your motor is smoking - that's the problem. It's not going to last much longer once it lets the smoke out.

    • @AshishKumar-dc2rg
      @AshishKumar-dc2rg 3 года назад

      @@RCworstwater actually it was the capacitor which was smoking, but my motor is still working. Even the capacitor wires were not burnt it was just it's outer body.

    • @RCworstwater
      @RCworstwater  3 года назад +3

      @@AshishKumar-dc2rg If it's just the capacitor then you should replace it and hope for a few more years out of the pump. It is common to replace capacitors once or twice along the life of a motor.
