This was basically pirates vs marines. Garp and Luffy were in two different worlds. Crocodile and Luffy may be enemies but Garp and Luffy are bigger enemies in terms of their obligations and the paths they chose.

I think we're going to have to suspend disbelief a bit when we see how strong Crocodile now is in the manga. Oda clearly hadn't fully figured out Haki at that stage of the story, as in Alabasta. It will be interesting to see if he addresses it at all.
I feel like Oda needs to address it in the story. Crocodile in the Marineford Saga onwards does not feel like the same character power wise that he was in Alabasta. I know there are popular fan theories that he may have got rusty from being in paradise for so long or he temporarily lost his haki due to some unknown circumstances. Whatever it is, I don't think its something we can just gloss over now especially after his new bounty reveal.

For most opponents, Croc didnt benefit much from using haki.
I don't think so. Dude has a massively powerful fruit, has basically had an Awakened power before we even knew what Awakening was, has an edged weapon on him, fights with tricks like poison, and is an incredible planner. He's pretty dangerous. Even powerhouses like Big Mom mostly use their fruit and sheer strength in lieu of Haki.
Can we just talk about how Crocodile went from losing to a pre-skip Luffy to seemingly effortlessly clashing swords with the strongest swordsman in the entire world over the course of a couple of months

The liquid isn't a drawback, it just permitted Luffy to touch him. It was basically Luffy using a version of armanment haki that didn't make him stronger. A weak person like Usopp wouldn't beat Crocodile if he did the same thing Luffy did.

Crocodile is the mvp of this arc for sure he fought against everyone in this arc also it was really interesting that he saved luffy 2 times in a row 1 from mihawk and the last one is from akainu that was really insane
I always thought “I got out of shape while in prison” was such a cold line. Basically implying the real threats are out in the real world and he’s ready to give it his all now that he’s out.
HOW STRONG CROCODILE REALLY IS? He is FEARLESS. He fought whitebeard, The strongest man, fought Mihawk The strongest Swordsman, Fought Jozu, doflamingo, Fought Akainu the strongest admiral. He fought Bullet the Demon Heir which was as strong as Rayleigh according to Buggy and end up DRAW. Based on his mastery of his devil fruit. He is as proficient as devil fruit user as the admirals. As a haki user, it was never shown yet but I believe he has haki, probably as strong as doflamingo level. It is impossible for Crocodile to have not known Haki since everyone in the new world has Haki, even Kaido lowest underlings has Haki. Crocodile has been in the new world as well.
We don't actually see most of kaido's crew using haki. Not saying they don't have it just saying most of the straw hats can't use haki but they're still able to contribute consistently every arc. Crocodile does have haki though it's not speculation Oda confirmed it

Let’s accept the fact luffy was lucky (and even Oda acknowledged crocodile was strong) I think the problem was spending so much time in the Alabasta region. He got to used to fighting weak pirates who couldn’t even touch him and luffy using water on him prevents him from using his powers.
Too bad Crocodile had to be the first logia to fall, 'cause this guy is actually fucking strong. Not only because of his Devil Fruit, his fluid is legit and he can stand against Mihawk, Doflamingo and even White Beard. It's really a shame that Oda didn't think that his manga would last so long.
Crocodile badass, Daz bones too! Tanking those attacks and can hold his own if he didn't get caught lacking. The cross guild looks awesome! Marineford is one of the best arcs, it's emotional and badass. I loved the part where Jinbe tore off the door and gave buggy crocodile and Daz bones a ride to steal the warship with the music playing in the background, that's when you knew shit was hyped!

It's clear that Crocodile was Awakened and in this scene Mr.1 said he was out of shape from Being in Prison, Crocodile was outta shape for years I'm Paradise so when Luffy learned moisture was his weakness he was able to take advantage of Crocodile not only underestimating him but him being out of shape.

Crocodile isn't weak by any means, he's just REALLY vulnerable to liquids, his fruit is OP but also has a huge drawback that he succesfully avoided until Luffy showed up, nobody BUT Luffy has balls big enough to bleed on purpose so he can punch him, and honestly to this day I have no idea how did Luffy panched through his strongest sand slash
Crocodile when he pulled the sand slash was already on a weakened state, and consider that attack as last ditch effort to try and take down luffy buy then the latter is still on the upper hand
The liquid isn't a drawback, it just permitted Luffy to touch him. It was basically Luffy using a version of armanment haki that didn't make him stronger. A weak person like Usopp wouldn't beat Crocodile if he did the same thing Luffy did.

People always underestimate crocodile because luffy found his weakness(or basically just plot armor) but this man is able to clash with mihawk and that is saying something
And with a hook that's directly attacked to his arm! The energy bouncing back from that clash would hurt like hell if not outright destroy the entire arm. With swords you have some protection because you're holding the scabbard but the hook.... ouch!
Clashing with Mihawk in this arc isn't really a feat though, especially when Mr. 1 managed to block his attack.

He is FEARLESS. He fought whitebeard, The strongest man, fought Mihawk The strongest Swordsman, Fought Jozu, doflamingo, Fought Akainu the strongest admiral.
He fought Bullet the Demon Heir which was as strong as Rayleigh according to Buggy and end up DRAW.
Based on his mastery of his devil fruit.
He is as proficient as devil fruit user as the admirals.
As a haki user, it was never shown yet but I believe he has haki, probably as strong as doflamingo level.
It is impossible for Crocodile to have not known Haki since everyone in the new world has Haki, even Kaido lowest underlings has Haki. Crocodile has been in the new world as well.
We don't actually see most of kaido's crew using haki. Not saying they don't have it just saying most of the straw hats can't use haki but they're still able to contribute consistently every arc. Crocodile does have haki though it's not speculation Oda confirmed it

Let’s accept the fact luffy was lucky (and even Oda acknowledged crocodile was strong) I think the problem was spending so much time in the Alabasta region. He got to used to fighting weak pirates who couldn’t even touch him and luffy using water on him prevents him from using his powers.

Crocodile badass, Daz bones too! Tanking those attacks and can hold his own if he didn't get caught lacking. The cross guild looks awesome! Marineford is one of the best arcs, it's emotional and badass. I loved the part where Jinbe tore off the door and gave buggy crocodile and Daz bones a ride to steal the warship with the music playing in the background, that's when you knew shit was hyped!
