CARMAX is DONE! They have FAILED to DROP PRICES Fast Enough

  • Carmax is heading straight toward its own demise. Without making any drastic changes, they are bound to fail. 2024 will be a year full of price drops, especially within the used vehicle market. Right now, more than ever, they need to SLASHING their prices to remain competitive. Even if it is as a large loss. The "long game" is to cut prices 10-20% across the board now to save their company. Focusing on the customer instead of their shareholders and bottom line will serve them well. Psst... that advice is on that house, Carmax... - Dr. Untamed
The new and used car market has been struggling these last 6-7 months and things are about to get worse. Bad for how long? Not sure. Right now, there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel. The companies that cut their losses early and quickly will win. Vroom just went under, Carvana will likely go too... Do you think Carmax will crumble this year too? Let me know your thoughts!
What do you think Carmax needs to do to fix this issue?
Thanks for watching as always, I greatly appreciate your support as always! If you found ANY value in my video here, please consider Liking and Subscribing -it'd mean a lot! Thank you.
    -Stay Untamed...

I've been in the market for a new Corvette C8 for a while now, and had a dealer try to sell me a 2023 Z06 with 900 miles on it for $186K (seriously) back in November. It’s just that they didn’t realize the tide would turn so quickly. It’s hard to get cars again, but this time it’s because no one is buying new cars so they are not trading in their cars. Car Max may not be discounting because they can’t get in large numbers of replacement inventory anyway.

Just like they always love to point out to people needing to trade in a car, or just sell a used car to a dealer, as they lowball their offer while trying to dealersplain to customer's that what we paid or put into or still owe has nothing to do with how much we can expect to get for our car, and we should just be able to accept and get over our bad decision and loss easily, and just move on! But now they are not willing to accept reality and drop prices below what they, unwisely as it turns out, overpaid for the cars, and are still trying to find "suckers" who unfortunately are not taking the time to study the current market and current lowest average sale prices for similar used cars. Plus hoping to take advantage of people already either uneducated as to how credit works, or have had some serious financial disaster fall on them, and they don't know how to shop around to get the best interest rate possible that they qualify for. Plus they don't do the price comparison between all the costs associated with buying a used car through them at their ripoff interest rates, and possible unknown mechanical problems, and loss of covered time left on any remaining warranty and just paying the now small difference usually to get a brand new car with full warranty available. Slimey snakes where their no haggle policy is touted as a good for the customer selling point, but in the end, all customers not paying cash will definitely get screwed, and most often even those paying cash will also get screwed by overpaying.

Was looking for a used Kia K5 for my son last weekend, dealers in my area are selling what we've been looking for from around $21K to $23K. Happen to look on CM and they were easily $25k+ for the same car with more miles on it! I can't believe how expensive they are and don't budge on the price! They're screwed if they don't get in their prices in line!

I have noticed this trend in car finance and other finance markets, like housing or credit cards. Many average Americans try to live honestly, like paying their debt, and no bank or financial institution helps them instead of scamming them. The Credit Score system is the biggest scam to keep the poor as poor forever. I am not saying or proposing a socialist kind of system, yet within this market, it can make a system that benefits manufacturers and consumers by minimizing middle-crony financial scammers. For example, if a consumer has a fair to poor credit score, interest levels should be low to minimize. Otherwise, the consumer is unable to pay the installment. And obvious default is unavoidable. As an average consumer, I don't want to default on my car payment because it will badly affect to my financial future. I believe 95% or higher consumers are like that, and cars and manufacturing industries are essential for the US economy, yet if consumers can't afford auto finance and financial institutes acting like blood-sucking vampires, the market fall is unavoidable.

Makes you wonder if they're just going to assume that everybody is going to run out and buy new (to them) vehicles with upcoming tax return season. It might be why they are holding the line 😂 For the vast majority of Americans, It's the one time a year they receive a "chunck" or lum sum of money. I've seen buddies get upwards of 10k on a return (children). A lot of them use this once a year opportunity to purchase a new to them vechicle. Unintelligent? Probably....but it happens every tax season. March through May (typically) is the busiest time for car sales.

New to your channel. Used car dealer in Northeast. Mainly Toyotas and Hondas from 2011 to 2021. RAV4s biggest seller. Occasional Highlanders, many Camrys, Corollas, and Civics.
While there is another RUclips channel that goes to different new car lots I have seen in your history you are VERY familiar with new Toyota Trucks, so price comparison with Car Max is interesting. Not familiar with their business model, the nearest one to me is Hartford, CT. I guess the appeal is many different types of vehicles in one place, maybe multiple financing sources, and good values given in trade ins.
Our Tacomas / Tundra sit for long time. 2012 Honda Civics very popular, even later 2017 - 19 Civics are popular for us. Good first car for many starting out in life. Nissan Versas Note and Sentras also popular with 1st time / frugal buyers.
We stay from Jeeps. At once were popular, but proven unreliable. Wranglers overpriced, often junk.
