@lioness246 the only true moisturizer is water. Any oil based "moisturizer" will only give the illusion of moisturized hair. It's still dry under those lotions and sheens.
@tevoliaharmon4283 I just brought some pink Pink Oil Moisturizer yesterday and my hair looks amazing I'm loving it. I have been using blue magic since I was lil and it does not work the way it use to
Back in the day, the scent of pink oil moisturizer and fashion fair lipstick was amazing. They changed the formulas and scents, last time I checked. Bummer.
It really has a horrible smell now, don’t know what they don’t to it, I thought it had gone off , I brought another one and at another shop, and it smelt exactly the same 😝 won’t be using that anymore.
Pink does absolutely nothing for my hair except wet it. Once it dries, I’m back at square one. I’ll stick to my spray water bottle and Blue Magic. My hair responds properly to that combo, so I’m sticking with it. ❤🙂🙂
You took the words right out of my mouth. All is does is wet my hair then it's back dry in 20 minutes. 🥴🤦 I don't have 4C hair either. It just doesn't work for me.🤷
Depends on your porosity, this video is misleading. Low porosity needs liquid moisturizer and high porosity needs thicker products like masque, hair lotion or grease to keep moisture in
💕THANK you for proving you can moisturize hair and still braid it. I never understood why all the braiders near me insist on dry hair without any products
That’s some good stuff I’ve been using it for about 30 years I’m 62 and still have a full head of shinny bouncy long hair as others around me are loosing their hair I’m grateful and thankful to God ….✌🏽♥️😇
I would have done the moisturizing lotion on the High poroxity hair. AND done the oil sheen on the low poroxity hair. YOU HAVE TO TAKE IN ACCOUNT THE "TEXTURE"OF THE HAIR TOO!!! NOT JUST POROXITY.
Factz or used none of em dat pink lotion feels gud fir 1st 10mins. Then it's over. Maybe it works on braids because it's gone be braided up and the residue it leaves on the hair will look like shine idk. But I learned my lesson with pink lotion in the 90's...luv the smell tho
That’s what I said. This video is misleading. You don’t use liquid product on high porosity hair. It can easily lose it. That’s why you need thicker products like masque, and hair lotion or grease
I remember using Pink back when I was in school too. My mama use to drench my hair in that stuff and it kept my hair moisturized for weeks. Be careful because too much of it will have your bonnet, clothes and pillow greasy as hell 😂
They still make it but they haven't changed up their damaging ingredients. Oh and they messed up the smell of it, it doesn't smell the same as back in the day.
@@laustin2832 i specialize in natural hair and braids so most of my clients have high porosity hair and if we’re being real not everyone moisturizes their hair while in braids or they use oil when they need grease and vice versa. Back in the day the pink moisturizer was thick and you needed a cup/bowl of water with a good brush and your hair would lay all day. Especially if they used the brown gel too🤣

Do anyone also still use sulfur 8? I went back to that too frl pin think that formula changes
Idk why but it still seems the same as it was to me. I been went back to the basics years ago. I was thinking to myself... the old stuff never stopped working, we just stopped using it.
My mom got pink lotion one time by accident because she sent my dad to get our "pink hair lotion" and she meant just for me lotion, which happened to BE pink in color at the time. And he brought home the luster pink lotion. 😅 It was ok for us but my mother was a bit heavy handed with it and it made MY hair oily. It was great for my sisters hair. We are biracial see, and she had hair that was like this girls and mine is a little more like 3b ish . This just brought back a ton of memories from my teenage years. My best friend always had this in her hair and I can remember the smell. You made me cry.I miss her so much.❤
I have pink oil moisture in my closet. This has always been a good old faithful from back in the day. I can always depend on it to moisturize my hair when all else fails.
Pink oil moisturizer dries out my hair. My friends and I stopped using pink oil moisturizer over 20 years ago, we all have different textures from loose curls to tightly coiled.
extremely helpful video .. the angles and different methods are super informative and i want to do my own braids next time so this is a really good video
My cosmetology teacher told me that oil doesn’t add moisture just shine and basically seals it. You need something like leave in conditioner or something creamy like to actually provide moisture and to seal the cuticle to not have that frizzy look. I noticed a difference in the dryness of my hair when I found that out.
I'm confused, too. Low porosity holds onto moisture so well that it makes no sense to add more moisture to it (product build-up) She should have used the spray and for the high porosity, adding oil sheen to damaged/ open cuticles means oil is getting to the cortex and clogging it up. the braider shoulda used the cream. When she wash her hair she’ll need a strong clarifier and protein treatment cus no amount of moisture is getting thru😳
Low porosity means that the hair has trouble absorbing moisture - actually repels moisture (or color or anything) … the cuticles are tightly sealed so nothing can get in (also nothing gets out). So that type of hair CAN be dry if it’s having a hard time absorbing the moisture necessary to keep it hydrated. High porosity means the cuticles are wide open and will often OVER absorb product and also have a hard time holding onto it….. so it makes sense that she uses a finer mist (smaller particles to get into the cuticle) on the low porosity and a thicker cream for the high porosity. (i haven’t used these products and am only guessing - it could also be that these products are specifically made for high/low porosity). you can check your own porosity by putting a strand of hair in water - if it floats you have low and if it sinks you have high……
