Shellfish are an important part of a great diversity of fish both freshwater and saltwater.
Sea fishing in a good imitation shrimp should always be at hand in our box of flies and so does fishing for Atlantic salmon and sea trouts.
Other fish, freshwater, such as trout or basses usually feed on crustaceans such as crawfish or Patagonian called Samastacus.
This fly model is interesting as adapting hook, color and size can mimic both shrimp as "crawfish" in a realistic manner without addressing techniques tied too complex or difficult.r
Hook: Ahrex NS156 Traditional shrimp # 6
Antennas: fine monofilament painted ORANGE and black with indelible markers.
Eyes: monofilament painted ORANGE with black pupil
Rostrum: orange artic fox tail
Shell: transparent thermocontractable paint orange and then craquelada black paint.
Rib: fine monofilament
Body: orange polar chenille
Note: Deer Creek fine UV resin is used for eye and shell termination and coating.
I have got to tie this one to use, all I can say is OMG - it's a beautiful fly!

Very nice. I can’t see how anyone would give this a thumbs down or have anything negative to say. I’ve been trying for years and just started looking into shrimp patterns because I mostly fish fresh water. Brilliant way to tie it and can’t wait to try it.

Saludos
HOLA AMIGO RUBEN, BUEN DIA HMNO, GRACIAS POR RESPONDERME , FELIZ DIA
Woah!! That is one badass shrimp pattern !!!Can I ask what the body material was(straggle fritz)??also what tubing was for the upper body?
Thank you!
Its polar chenille, and the shell its shrink heat piping. Best regards!
I just started tying my own flies I Google how to tie shrimp fly and, (da da damn) I found the best one to tie on first try, thanks for your time and your talent, if I can give you my address will you send me one, lol💵💵
You can use chikabou, in the video i use the fluffy short feathers from an american withing hackle saddle. Best regards
👍

Very nice pattern! May you write please exactly the materials you use d to tiè it? Many thanks Giandomenico from Rome Italy
Hi, thanks, the recipe is in the description of the video. Best regards
Awesome. What is the clear tubing and straggle material used?
Thanks buddy, is heat shrink pipping. best regards
I’m doing me some of these now off to macdonalds to nick the straws
LOL
Nice tie, but shouldn't there be weight added to the bottom of the hook shank? Seems to me it will want to flip. What are your thoughts?
Hi buddy, you can add some weight on the hook if you need to, or tie it in a double hook to have better balance in strong currents or tie it upside down. Best regards
Ruben, looking at heat shrink for making these. What size diameters do you prefer to use? Would you scale up the tubing size if you make bigger shrimp flys? Thank you so much!
Hi Joe, i use 6mm tube, i would scale it if i look for a chubby body, if i keep a thin body i will go for same size tube and then make it larger. Best regards
Hi Reuben, how think of line do you use for the eyes? I’ve tried to use some but I think it’s to thin.
If I need to make flies that realistic to fool fish I might be in trouble. Or need to.find dumber fish.
Great tutorial.
Thanks Michael. regards
Can this fly be tied on a long shank hook for a larger presentation?
Beautifully done Ruben! (Fans: Hit the mute button and enjoy.)
Thanks a lot my friend!! yes i dont know whats the matter with the music, if i speak spanish on the videos they will complain too LOL Best regards my friend
Nice fly. Question: at around the 9:37 mark, you begin using an orange and black feather but there is no mention of any kind of feather in your materials list. What is that?
Its a fluffy short feather from an american hackle whiting saddle
Dear Sir,please fogive me for not understanding
the Shell i dont understand, are u using a straw for the Shell ???
Hi, no, its a heat shrink tube
love all the work on these flies>>> and the 80's porn music is classic
lol thanks
Terrible patrón, el cuerpo que es? caño de goma? Abrazo

Sir how to use
Hi bud, near to the bottom and striping it slowly. Best regards
Will it catch sea run trout ?
Hi, i think it should. You should try it. Best regards
@@rubenmartinflies thank you for your response
what the heck is transparent thermocontractable??? looks like a clear straw
Hi buddy, check this video and you will have an idea of the product. Kind regards ruclips.net/video/HH4beZ2FYI0/видео.html
Красиво, но шумно
I don't know how this can be called an instructional video when there is no verbal audio
Only a seasoned fly tier would get it.....
Very shrimpy looking, but you should lose the lame music and offer some narration explaining materials and tying procedure.
Hi Bill, i speak spanish, so the narration will not help everyone either, so we prefer to put music, and people can ask the question in here and i will answer. The music can mute and put other music inspotify or whatever. Best regards
great pattern horrible music
