I don't know why this is so confusing for everyone, just try using the LMG for yourself like he did and you'll see how well it actually work. Nevermind the crosshairs not showing up. You can turn the crosshairs off in settings, HOWEVER, in the video the player has crosshairs for the grenade launcher when in iron sight mode, which means that the crosshairs aren't turned off in the settings which PROVES it's elite. You guys need to grow up. Thank you for this video, it's helping me immensely.

I never realised how helpful the knife was, since I did about half the game on elite, struggling, I decided to try and get this over with, found your video, after I beat this, the last half was easy. Your tactics can really be applied to any part of killzone 2. Thanks again man!
Here's a strategy for fighting Radec, once he decides to make it personal. Use the flamethrower on him. It will do continuous damage and you will be able to track him better when he goes invisible.
This is still the best Killzone ever, and really it's not even close. KZ3 and Shadow Fall are okay (KZ3 >>> SF, though), but they've made the series progressively worse as a whole. At least the two Vita editions were good. Also, this remains the toughest FPS section I've ever played. God I was raging at this lol. Getting the plat for this helped make it worth the struggle though.
Shadowfall has no place in the Killzone universe. Killzone's roots were in sci-fi boots=on-ground combat, not the bullshit spec-ops and high tech combat that was in SF. Ableit, the owl unit and its features were cool, but other than that, the rest of the game was just... nothing but a CoD ripoff. They did the specops theme a hell of a lot better in Mercenary than they did in SF because they at least kept the original themes of KZ in Mercenary and the points/upgrades system was an interesting touch.
With every single video you upload in HD, youtube puts the SD version up prior to the HD one. The HD takes longer to process, and will be available in a few hours. The same goes for part 2, which is currently being processed.
Enemies react different when you knife charge them. You have to know exactly how and when to charge, and that takes some luck, but mostly lots of practice. Try it, you'll see.
Helghast with rocket launchers ARE anoying in this part. Seriously the mind gun is your best friend in this final battle. Plus shotty when up against Radec. Nice run bro.
I have just done Elite thanks to you mate! So thank you. I really enjoyed Elite, or at least I can appreciate it now that I have finished! It was a good challenge and fun, with realistically intelligent baddies and great atmosphere. Finally got that gold trophy! Thanks again.
I seriously tried for about 3 hours to beat it on hard and I gave up and changed it to easy...... BUT SERIOUSLY WHAT IN THE FUCK IS WITH THIS FIGHT ITS IMPOSSIBLE
Absolutely barely. One more minor hit of anything and I would've been dead. I was most likely between 4% - 1% health. Luck is your greatest weapon in this fight.
Removing crosshairs in the option menu also removes the crosshair in Iron-Sight. The only way to have crosshairs removed only during regular walking, and not during iron-sight, is by playing it on Elite, so it still definitely proves it. I do appreciate you giving me the benefit of the doubt to begin with. I hope this tips the scale completely towards the good side.
Good observation, "noob". Sadly, the crosshairs come back when you zoom in with the LMG/Grenade launcher, which means it has NOT been disabled in the options. It does prove it.
I spent an hour banging my head against this with the M82. Watch this little video and boom. That LMG cleans house. Thank you tremendously for this video. My mood improved hundred-fold because of this.
1) Get behind the wall where the weapons rack is (on the left) using the sta-52 shoot them when they pop out of the big statue. then next pick the sta-3 rifle and kill the shock troopers. Then you hear the door behind you just turn around and shoot both pyro troopers and 2 shock troopers. go up and knife them pyro troops grab the sta-52 shoot and hide until you hear the door, then knife and rifle untill the door sounds again, grab the grenade launcher and use knife too. Always run side to side.
Exactly. You just proved to yourself that this is Elite. Turn the crosshairs off, and they will be gone during hip-fire AND iron-sight. Only during Elite can you generate the situation where you hip-shot without, but ironsight with. Try it.

When those rpg dudes came on the 2nd checkpoint I threw 1 grenade at the bastards and got the checkpoint cleared! Can you believe that hand grenade is the reason why I managed to beat this checkpoint and the game?! Holy cow! Radec himself took me quite a few tries as well. This game kicks ass!=D

I guess here in the last battle the point is (they) the game makers made sure at least on elite mode that you will have to use the knife. Is kind of "if you are here on elite difficulty you better have the skill to fight with all the weapons". Without the knife kills on elite and single player will be IMO is impossible to finish. I don't know if on multi-player will be different though.
its on elite, he's using knife because it takes practically an entire clip from the STA-3 to bring down an enemy. On the higher difficulties, you just don't have the time to waste putting that many bullets into one guy since this is when they start rushing you, knifing is the fastest way to put an enemy down. Too bad they didn't put more ammo for the mine gun in this level, that gun is awesome.
I was kind of screwed in checkpoint 1 because I didn't have the lmg so I carpet bombed in the beginning every time and got stuck with that shit assault rifle. But your strategy for checkpoint 2 was flawless, after trying it multiple times on my own, I watched you do it and I got it first shot. I ran out of grenade rounds so I used the Sta and only killed rocket guys on the right side and it still worked. Great strategy.
yo Aidan thanks a lot son, i followed ur tips & manage 2 beat the game on elite mode. i also got the platinum... i've been trying 2 beat this level 4 a mean ass minute.
Part 1 took me 6 days to beat on elite difficulty whereas part 2 took me approximately 2 weeks and part 3 & 4 took 45 minutes at the most so proud when my trophy popped in the credits
I believe this is elite now. I had to figure out my own tactics though. The video gave me a few ideas. Thanks for posting it. I now have a nice shiny platinum trophy for Killzone 2 :)
it is Elite, notice there are no cross hairs until you zoom, only Elite has that. Also that sta machine gun is Very effective when you actually take the time to aim and use it semi-automatically.
No. Turning cross hairs off also disables iron sight crosshairs. Elite mode is the absolute only way to lose cross hairs during regular, without losing them in iron sight.
It's amazing how a game can feel so futuristic and yet relevent today aswell. Radec was a great villian. You gotta love that he killed himself rather than be captured it really illustrated his hatred for the ISA. Translation: This game is the best FPS to date.
@ashandaar Yeah, its weird that he gets hurt without having the black screen, i think that there are damage multipliers.... i mean... if you get hurt in the head 3 times in a row you´ll get the black screen... but if you get hurt in the limber or in another part it´ll take more shoots to have a black or gray screen.... i think that this is why he is not getting the black screen :P

I'm glad you've used my previous videos, and you can rest assured; this is Elite. I have no reason to lie, and you can visually see that this is proven elite. Don't forget, this video is attempt 800+ for me as well. It might seem like I breeze through, but I just learned after days and days what the best walking patterns were, etc.

I did notice that the helghast seemed a bit easier on this level compared to the rest of the game on elite. still one helluva time though.
i used the sniper rifle for the "RPG guys".. while cowering in the corner near the gates. one headshot is all it takes. of course make sure the coast is clear though. good luck!
they should totally remake Killzone 2 on PS4 get rid of the clunky controls and run it on their new Horizon Zero Dawn engine. Brilliant game this was back in the day and some places on Elite took me frigging Hrs and Hrs just to get through. Like the beach area towards the start of the game
@PringlesForAidan Indeed this is elite mode, it is not really that hard, just be patient and extremely careful when shooting... This is a good guide too, using flamethrower on 1v1 with Radec is great too.
It took me a while but you need to first eliminate the ground troops when up on the balcony/leave it up to rico he deals with em adequately then go to the left stairway with the GL whenever you hear the SFX for the doors use grenades and launchers at the doors where the enemies come from IT REALLY HELPS. Make sure that enemies DONT come up ONE of the stairways and just wait for the enemies on the other stairway to advance and hope they dont take potshots at you/ Its usually a matter of pure luck
It's quite obvious that there are no crosshairs during regular fire, unless you're blind. If you've played Elite, you'd know this; only iron-sight shows crosshairs, which in this video, it obviously does. Thank you for your time. Let's move along now.
You won't be able to get my setup, but you can get equal or better quality by simply getting a capture card or HD recorder that is capable of 720p or greater. You should be able to find these online.
2) You have to time the knife kills (running at them) or they will kill you quick. The first time I used the knife I used it with the rifle just to save grenades, because the shock troopers come from both sides the knife works but the grenades kill them fast. Rocket guys get kill with grenade launcher or knife. Radec will chase you so I went to the entrance with sta-52 rifle and just shoot him when he appeared. If you have to get out of there you can always comeback here. Just run, run, run.
I'm in the boss fight on Veteran right now (played through on Trooper before), and fuck, this is unbelievably hard! The boss fight is much more difficult than everything before! It doesn't feel like the same difficulty setting...
I don't use a capture card. :X I use an external separate PC doing nothing but recording footage 24/7. Sony Vegas ends up 'capturing' the image and converts it into a workable file.
I'm still stuck at this part, It gets really ridiculous when the last wave of shock trooper spawns, you really have to take a few out with the grenade launcher or grenades as suggested but I couldn't most of the time. Then if you let them all ambush you on the balcony at the same time, the chance of surviving are really slim due to Rico dying instantly, and there were way too many to knife, the player in this video almost die at the end too on the last soldier he knifed, so there's a risk.
This is strange. I've killed all Radec's men, but the balcony doors just keep shut. I've restarted the boss fight several times, but the doors just won't open. I'm absolutely sure I've killed everyone except Radec. All I can do is stand there and shoot Radec for the rest of the day, but it seems my bullets do no damage at all.
Thank you to all those posting techniques,Finally after some very stressfull near miss attempts i have the untouchable trophy,I found the LMG to be best save it for radec go down where others have mentioned to entrance and wait for him to come to you then just shoot a burst,keep repeating until he is almost dead when he spawns up top then just run into middle behind statue aim and shoot at his head. Well I'm off to try for this elite trophy now,LOL sigh
@AnDrEwemd Hard as u say, but yeah eventually possible after many tries. But i still doubt this is effectively elite mode when you take a look at how many times he's getting hurt without having a total black screen... Normally, 3 hits and your screen is black for 3 sec.
I know the feeling! Years ago I was playing Killzone Liberation and only just managed to defeat Stratson on Normal. I then tried to beat the game on Hard, first doing the easy levels, then the harder and then the hardest. Metrac wasn't all that difficult but Cobra was a nightmare. However it qas done apart from one level, Chapter 5, part 4. I could not do it. Then a year or two ago I tried it once again, playing the game from the start and then I reached Stratson on Hard and I beat him!

Seeing as in Recruit, Trooper and Veteran you have the regular crosshair, this must be the fabled hidden 5th difficulty level; neverland.

Over the span of this 3 week final boss level I died 100+ times I've only beaten killzone 2 on elite once and that's enough for anyone believe me

that's why you stay in cover and fire out of cover until there are no visible threats, then move to the next piece of available cover. :)
There are during ironsight, when you hold a weapon that doesn't have a model ironsight, such as the LMG or Grenade Launcher.

It's elite. You could clearly see his screen turning very dark after a SMG enemy shoots about 4 or 5 shots at him.
killzone 2 has this feeling that have never been felt by anyone since return to castle wolfenstein

they should totally remake Killzone 2 on PS4 get rid of the clunky controls and run it on their new Horizon Zero Dawn engine. Brilliant game this was back in the day and some places on Elite took me frigging Hrs and Hrs just to get through. Like the beach area towards the start of the game

@PringlesForAidan Indeed this is elite mode, it is not really that hard, just be patient and extremely careful when shooting... This is a good guide too, using flamethrower on 1v1 with Radec is great too.
This is definitely elite difficulty man. You can't see the crosshair of the LMG until he zooms in.
It took me a while but you need to first eliminate the ground troops when up on the balcony/leave it up to rico he deals with em adequately then go to the left stairway with the GL whenever you hear the SFX for the doors use grenades and launchers at the doors where the enemies come from IT REALLY HELPS. Make sure that enemies DONT come up ONE of the stairways and just wait for the enemies on the other stairway to advance and hope they dont take potshots at you/ Its usually a matter of pure luck

It's quite obvious that there are no crosshairs during regular fire, unless you're blind.
If you've played Elite, you'd know this; only iron-sight shows crosshairs, which in this video, it obviously does.

You won't be able to get my setup, but you can get equal or better quality by simply getting a capture card or HD recorder that is capable of 720p or greater. You should be able to find these online.
No, use the LGM, zoomed in, with burst fire while crouching. You'll see for yourself that they fall like flies with that weapon.
2) You have to time the knife kills (running at them) or they will kill you quick. The first time I used the knife I used it with the rifle just to save grenades, because the shock troopers come from both sides the knife works but the grenades kill them fast.
Rocket guys get kill with grenade launcher or knife.
Radec will chase you so I went to the entrance with sta-52 rifle and just shoot him when he appeared. If you have to get out of there you can always comeback here. Just run, run, run.

I'm in the boss fight on Veteran right now (played through on Trooper before), and fuck, this is unbelievably hard! The boss fight is much more difficult than everything before! It doesn't feel like the same difficulty setting...
I don't use a capture card. :X I use an external separate PC doing nothing but recording footage 24/7. Sony Vegas ends up 'capturing' the image and converts it into a workable file.
Defeating Radec on Elite is the hardest thing in the game, should be a trophie on it's own

I'm still stuck at this part, It gets really ridiculous when the last wave of shock trooper spawns, you really have to take a few out with the grenade launcher or grenades as suggested but I couldn't most of the time.
Then if you let them all ambush you on the balcony at the same time, the chance of surviving are really slim due to Rico dying instantly, and there were way too many to knife, the player in this video almost die at the end too on the last soldier he knifed, so there's a risk.
This is strange. I've killed all Radec's men, but the balcony doors just keep shut. I've restarted the boss fight several times, but the doors just won't open. I'm absolutely sure I've killed everyone except Radec. All I can do is stand there and shoot Radec for the rest of the day, but it seems my bullets do no damage at all.
This is the best FPS game I have ever played.
I'm doing a first playthrough of this game on verteran and finaly made it to this guy, only to get stuck and no matter what I do seem to die.
Thank you to all those posting techniques,Finally after some very stressfull near miss attempts i have the untouchable trophy,I found the LMG to be best save it for radec go down where others have mentioned to entrance and wait for him to come to you then just shoot a burst,keep repeating until he is almost dead when he spawns up top then just run into middle behind statue aim and shoot at his head.
Well I'm off to try for this elite trophy now,LOL sigh
I think defeating Radec in Elite will forever be beyond my grasp.
@AnDrEwemd Hard as u say, but yeah eventually possible after many tries. But i still doubt this is effectively elite mode when you take a look at how many times he's getting hurt without having a total black screen... Normally, 3 hits and your screen is black for 3 sec.
I know the feeling! Years ago I was playing Killzone Liberation and only just managed to defeat Stratson on Normal. I then tried to beat the game on Hard, first doing the easy levels, then the harder and then the hardest. Metrac wasn't all that difficult but Cobra was a nightmare. However it qas done apart from one level, Chapter 5, part 4. I could not do it. Then a year or two ago I tried it once again, playing the game from the start and then I reached Stratson on Hard and I beat him!
