On Elite, there are crosshairs when you're in ironsight if the actual weapon you hold has no physical/visual ironsight, such as a scope or something. This is why, during ironsight, the LMG and Grenade Launcher have a crosshair, though when you're walking about they do not. This is how you tell Elite apart from the rest.
Fighting Radec knife-to-knife was always the best part of this game. :) I think it would've been more badass if Radec abandoned (ran out of ammo to make sense in the game) that rifle after the last of his troops are defeated and fought Sev and Rico with only his handgun, combat knife, hand-to-hand skills and teleporation/cloaking device.
I never liked Rico. Once he spit on Radec I think I was more pissed at him than I was at Radec for sending all those assholes after me. lol. I never really liked Rico though, I like Sev, Radec just made a good Helghst boss, he was a badass.
Thank you for this excellent video, it was a great help. I found a great tactic for beating Radec once he starts fighting you one on one: Use the flamethrower. He'll stay aflame even after he teleports, and you'll be able to see him even when he's invisible. Then you can just run up to him and keep knifing him until he's done.
@xThomag i know what you mean. i played the game first time on Veteren and this final part of the last level took me literally a whole week to beat. I wanted to give up and complete it on Recruit but i kept going and it was actully this video here that helped me beat it on Veteren. That was almost a year ago now and i still havent done it on Elite.
You know something, even though Elite was VERY tough, much tougher than COD4 Veteran in my opinion, it really exposed the depth and magnitude of the brilliance of the game. I'm still shell shocked and impressed at the same time; I can't wait for KZ3.
I learned this from another player from the GT forums, you can set Radec on fire with the napalm gun and he'll get continuous damage. When you run out, switch to another weapon of choice (ideally a large clip machine/sub machine gun) and whittle any remaining hit points he has down.
If it makes you feel any better, it took me 2 days (3 hours a day playtime), to pass it the first time. Then my recorder crashed on me, so I had to re-do it, which took me another 3 days. You're not alone.
Pro-tip, you can "break" Radec's AI if you spray him with the flamethrower. He becomes constantly visible because of the flames and he screams and stops shooting at you as well. Just make sure the flames don't die down and you can shoot him with your M4 with complete impunity.
Tried that... He just starts electrocuting you! Once set alight Radec himself even says 'bad tactics'. May have been able to do that in the early days but I think Guerrilla patched this... he's an absolute nightmare. I can't defeat him....
Tried the knife, it worked at first but then he kept killing me on subsequent playthroughs, I switched to a shotgun strategy. My successful attempt involved using the shotgun, then picking up the flamethrowers from the dead guys who set the paintings alight. I torched Radec, and as he was endlessly trying to put out the fire I kept igniting him. He teleports but he’s still on fire, when the tanks ran out I grabbed whatever gun I could find and shot his flailing form. This worked so good I didn’t even have to shoot him at the part where he teleports in front of Visari’s door. The cutscene where he kills himself just triggered. Note: if you grab the flamethrower he stays cloaked and chucks arc grenades constantly, so be careful.
ok i understand the close up 'meet with cold steel' part at first but 2nd part when Radec is shooting it's a whole lot easier to hang back and charge and chuck gernades at him, while shooting with a machine gun, gernade launcher, or sniper. flamethrower up top also works at close range.
Don't have the Elite trophy because I haven't finished all levels on Elite yet. Only a handful, and the last. The lack of crosshairs during regular fire/movement prove that this was recorded during elite mode. I hope this will clarify any confusion you might have.

Hey, thanks for the vid. Your final strategy for Radec was risky, but it paid off in the end. it took a few tries because sometimes Radec would bug out and start teleporting all over the place, and sometimes Rico would damage him too much sending Radec into gun mode. Eventually I got him down. 4 episodes of Slice+Dice and he ran away like a baby.
What you mean beast awards (best)? I'm more then halfway through Visari Square on Elite mode kicking butt all over the place, and I've completed Story Mode on Trooper and Veteran.

Hit the knife before you actually want to slash. It takes some timing, but once you get it, it becomes second nature. So hit the knife and calculate the delay in. You'll be unstoppable in a melee fight.
Ok man. I've finally done this. After I beat Radec, I unleashed every piece of munition I had left in the corpse of Radec. My friend asked me to beat this game on elite for him because he needed the trophy and I told him: Never ever again I will touch this difficulty. Thanks for the help ;) I cut Radec to pieces just like you did and it worked wonders.

Just blew through the second checkpoint with the knife tactic and nailed Radec. Thanks for the tips. Also I found the SMG to be more predictable than the knife when fighting Radec. There's a lot of risk trading blows with him when you try using the knife.
Have you tried sniping them from afar? (I don't own this game or a PS3, but that worked for me in Call of Duty: World at War. And the last level on that is similar to this one.)

Thanks for the knife trick it does really help for Radec I use the flamethrower because he is constantly hurting and he is in flames so you can see him.
I'm far from a huge gamer, (I play on trooper mode) but killzone 2 and 3 are awesome! I never got in to COD or Halo. Killzone is unique, and I secretly love playing them multiple times.

Awesome walkthrough. The one thing that kept making me mad was the fact you can't use your healing ray to save Garza when rescuing him, Evelyn, and Natko. It's not right at all. I demand justice for Garza. Radec on the other hand I'm gonna miss, although he killed Templar, he's one of my favorite antagonist. Well, at least Rico and Sev are still alive, but in hiding.
@Tom well done. i knew that if i gave up and played it on Recruit, i would never ever be botherd to go back and complete it on Veteren. also i've played about 50 hours on Single Player but over 125 hours on Multiplayer... you have a lot of weeks ahead of you playing this.
this guide works wonder, but i would recommend using the flame thrower against radec. once you emptied the flame thrower on him (brutal), you hit him hard with both magnum and melee

To be honest, I never really used the grenade launcher on the previous difficulties. But it definitely helps and works on Elite difficulty, thank you for your playthrough PringlesForAidan. Radec's bodyguards for me was the toughest section in the campaign! Just beat the game now :)

@XXXSpartan118XXX 1.Killzone 2 almost never lags it's ment to be how it is, it only freezes at load areas, the same thing it does on resistence 2, 2.COD is cross platform so that should not be in the fight between you two. 3. Gears of war does indeed lag, infact most of the time it's because of it's slow render rate. Unless your talking about the 1st one. If you are never mind. 4.Just because he has a PC doesn't mean there is no point in a playstation.

I pwnd those red eyed freaks like no tomorrow. i got to the point just last night where I had to spend days in elite, how you like me now, higs! I also discovered that the killzone's save file is locked, which means i couldn't back up my elite progress for later, this is HORSESHIT!!!
And keep your distance from Radec. If he gets too close to you then you've got no chance to escape his knife strikes. Keep moving back as you slash him with the knife to avoid him getting too close to you. And keep slashing till he disappears completely and appears in some other place. Even when you can't see him anymore, you can still hurt him as long as you see blood coming from where you're striking him. Don't stop till the blood disappears!

@Chowdaholic I just beat the game bout an hour ago using a flamethrower, it works like a charm! If you have any, that is. He's all lit up and struggles to teleport, just keep nailing him with the pistol. Sniper, not so much. It can be done but it's tough.
I tried that, and he just teleports a little further and simply opens fire on me. It worked for me on Trooper, but not on Elite for some reason. I had to provoke him by turning my back towards him, so he'd take out the knife to try and backstab me.
@iigzzee get in a corner use a shotty or weapon of choice but I recommend it because its perfect for close range and the most powerful of them all oh and have a sniper rifle near by just incase if he runs
The only place I really had a problem with was in the train, the part you have to blow the tank up. Those waves of enemies are annoying but I managed to get a tactic: Shoot at them them so they follow me, quickly run to the tank MG you used before, mount it, and smoke them out. Repeat with other waves.
Listen can you tell me what is the last hidden trophie from campaign trophies before first mp cup it must be "Carrier". It is hidden and i don't know which one it is and what i should do to own it.... can you help
Great walk through for sure. But they made some small changes in the latest patch to this last part. The part after the RPG guys is now harder and fighting Radec is now a good deal harder. Also when he shoots himself in the head he's holding a knife and the stA18 pistol in the same hand for some reason.
How did I beat Radec? Switch to an assualt rifle when he starts coming at you with his knife, then switch to sniper rifle for headshots when he starts shooting at you. Highly recommended to stay close with Rico, so Radec will be more focused onto attacking him than you. Then score a final headshot on Radec when he's on his last legs.
We all share your sentiment. Do you butt him with your rifle if he gets in your way and totally pisses you off? Or do you knife him? He sucks, obviously for a reason, b he does draw-away enemy fire.
It's elite. To the people saying he has crosshairs...you are misinformed. If you zoom out in Elite, you get crosshairs on some weapons. The grenade launcher and LMG happen to be 2 of those weapons.
The funny thing is that going blade to blade is easier with less chance of dying. At range, he opens fire at you pretty rapidly with an LMG, and it drains your health in a second. Not giving him a chance to shoot at me was my key to victory. Try it, you'll see how it might look hard, but is in fact really easy. :]
First that you can kill Radec by taking the rocket launcher and shooting him directly with it.Second is a question did you find all intel and symbols, third and the last is nice gameplay.

@psychosmoke there are only 3 sorta impossible parts forgot the 1st one, you are in a bucket litterally and the waves so far I'm on the waves it is hard and wheni mean hard i mean hard i fire insanely keep on moving but whatever i do i can't make it past the 2nd wave when they come up those stairs your dead seondly they have alot more armor you think 1 knife to the gut or head kills them but no they come right back up, if you fire a grenade you must throw a second on just to make sure.

some od the helghast have anti fire armor like the flame throwing Guys and propoply radec

Your're gonna enter hell, seriously, I just need to beat Radec on Elite,and the campaign, particulary Radec's waves are a BIG nightmare, hard as hell!

Haven't done every level on elite yet. Only the ones I have on video. Chapter select enabled me to guide this one first.

Yeah, this is the special Illinois edition. Only 3 were made. It removes cross hairs on easy, but shows them in iron sight.

Killzone 2 has such pathetic protagonists. We are forced to play as gorillas instead of any relatable ISA soldier.

Listen can you tell me what is the last hidden trophie from campaign trophies before first mp cup it must be "Carrier". It is hidden and i don't know which one it is and what i should do to own it.... can you help
Great walk through for sure. But they made some small changes in the latest patch to this last part. The part after the RPG guys is now harder and fighting Radec is now a good deal harder. Also when he shoots himself in the head he's holding a knife and the stA18 pistol in the same hand for some reason.
How did I beat Radec?
Switch to an assualt rifle when he starts coming at you with his knife, then switch to sniper rifle for headshots when he starts shooting at you. Highly recommended to stay close with Rico, so Radec will be more focused onto attacking him than you. Then score a final headshot on Radec when he's on his last legs.
We all share your sentiment. Do you butt him with your rifle if he gets in your way and totally pisses you off? Or do you knife him? He sucks, obviously for a reason, b he does draw-away enemy fire.

If you die, can you select "restart last checkpoint" and still complete the level and eventually earn the war hero trophy?

Lol I just use the flame thrower. Once hes on fire he cant do anything and its over it seconds.
It's elite. To the people saying he has crosshairs...you are misinformed. If you zoom out in Elite, you get crosshairs on some weapons. The grenade launcher and LMG happen to be 2 of those weapons.
The funny thing is that going blade to blade is easier with less chance of dying. At range, he opens fire at you pretty rapidly with an LMG, and it drains your health in a second. Not giving him a chance to shoot at me was my key to victory.
Try it, you'll see how it might look hard, but is in fact really easy. :]

First that you can kill Radec by taking the rocket launcher and shooting him directly with it.Second is a question did you find all intel and symbols, third and the last is nice gameplay.

Just spam the Slash button right before you come into his face. It's in the timing, and you'll get it after you practice with it for a while.

there are only 3 sorta impossible parts forgot the 1st one, you are in a bucket litterally and the waves so far I'm on the waves it is hard and wheni mean hard i mean hard i fire insanely keep on moving but whatever i do i can't make it past the 2nd wave when they come up those stairs your dead seondly they have alot more armor you think 1 knife to the gut or head kills them but no they come right back up, if you fire a grenade you must throw a second on just to make sure.
