The Jakks Namco Plug and Play has the original Rally-X with the music from New Rally-X but is the original game. It runs a bit faster than the arcade version and it might be the best version of the game ever released. The music in that one is so catchy!
I love this game to death. One of my personal favorite arcade games next to Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble. The music is also so damn catchy! Also, not to be nitpicky but a correction on one bit in the New Rally-X description: your car doesn't refuel when you get the "Lucky Flag". You have the same amount of fuel after it tallies up the score and resumes.
I was wondering what that N64 game that displayed arcade machines on which you could play Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, Mappy, Ms. Pac Man, Rally X, Xevious, Pole Position, Dig Dug and other games on was called. I finally found out that it was called Namco Museum. I wonder which one had the big robot messing up the city on a foggy day... but all the games looked exactly like what was at the arcade.
Thanks for another enjoyable video. while there were better graphics in later versions my favourite would be the Sharp x68000 because of the sound, it had a full tune where the others were just a sample on an annoying repetitious loop.
Owen Fitzgerald thanks for replying, my bad in not being clear, I agree the music is better, I was referring to the MSX being the first with a tune rather than an annoying loop.
The MSX version is awful slow! :-D Just because is running on a MSX model synced at 50Hz (European models). This game was made for 60Hz models (Japanese and Brazilian models).
Go to settings / Speed/ 1.25 & you'll see it at it's correct speed. Like I stated before on other comments. Sometimes the emulation gets buggy & this is the only way to make it work.
I remember playing a clone of this on the Vic-20 called Radar Rat Race. You where a mouse and chased by cats as you where looking for cheese instead of flags if my memory is correct.
What I'm actually more familiar with is a knockoff for the C64 called "Radar Rat Race", in which the characters were rodents and "Three Blind Mice" was the music.
One of my favorite Namco arcade games. The MSX and Sharp X68000 strangely use the New Rally-X music. And the 2600 homebrew is a lot of fun. I hope Ed Fries finishes it so Atariage can finally release it on cart. BTW why didn't you include Radar Rat Race for the C=64?
Actually the Sharp X68000 version is supposed to be New Rally-X. He didn't include Radar Rat Race because it's not using similar or ripped graphics or it's just not Rally-X.
Considering what they had to work with, the 2600 version ain't half bad! Commodore had their own version for the 64 called "Radar Rat Race". It's not that great, but the EXTREMELY repetitive music will have you killing yourself within 10 minutes (Imagine "three blind mice, three blind mice. See how they run, see how they run" over and over and over and over and ...)
Interesting side note: If you play the arcade version on an emulator, watch out for diagonal moves: You can easily end up inside walls. It seems the game code doesn't check for this (since the actual game hardware only had 4 way controls, it didn't check for that).
scooterscanley Mine too! In fact, that was one of the first games I ever played, so when I heard the real Rally-X BGM for the first time, I was like "dafuq is this?"
I have to say, you left out Rally X from Namco Classics Arcade game, I'm not usre if it's Volume 1 or 2, but they have both the original and an enhanced version on that arcade game.
Well, the Game is really called Summer Games, and this game is for the: Zx spectrum, Amstrad cpc, atari 2600, atari 7800, atari st, atari 8-bit, apple 2, Nec Pc-88, Commodore 64, Commodore Amiga, and Sega Master System.
I have a very great idea, you can make an video comparing this game: Summer Olympics from Epyx, it can be an homage for the real Summer Olympics Games, it would be great!!!
Try this one.. should be configured. If it doesn't work let me know & We'll see if we can figure it out. You'll need Java to run this. www.mediafire.com/download/7rp7sva4y9ycmel/PPSSPPWindowsGold.rar

It seems to me that the 68000 and the MSX versions were more based on New Rally X considering the music and the Lucky Flag.
The original Rally-X here is one of my favorite arcade games ever!
I love this game to death. One of my personal favorite arcade games next to Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble. The music is also so damn catchy!

The One Man Box Office Ha, Bubble Bobble and Rally-X are two of MY favorite arcade games too! I guess I'm not the only one with good taste...
This was the arcade machine that my old man used to drag me away from, very early 80s.
Do have a version of this in a namco plug & play device.
I love the music of New Rally-X
Me too :D
Ed Fries, the person who converted it to the Atari 2600, is some sort of magician savant.
There is also a very good homebrew port on AtariAge for Atari 8-Bit computers, called New Rally-X
I was wondering what that N64 game that displayed arcade machines on which you could play Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, Mappy, Ms. Pac Man, Rally X, Xevious, Pole Position, Dig Dug and other games on was called. Fun Fact:
Did You Know That New Rally-X Was A Mini Game
Found In The PSP Version Of Ridge Racer 1 & 2.
let's compare NEW RallyX
I love rally x
Fuck yes
Squirrel CRAFT306 b
I grew up with New Rally - X. When I saw this, I was confused.
The arcade version engine noise sounds like an aquarium pump :-D
The sharp x1 port was so fun and yes I’ve played it, it’s
so faithful to the original version from arcades
So is x6800 port
So is gba and Windows ports are fun too
The X68000 version sounds awesome, but those flags are almost impossible to see!
They could have at least made an outline around the flags.
Thanks for another enjoyable video.
while there were better graphics in later versions my favourite would be the Sharp x68000 because of the sound, it had a full tune where the others were just a sample on an annoying repetitious loop.
Owen Fitzgerald I think you mean the MSX version
No I prefer the Sharp x68000.
Owen Fitzgerald thanks for replying, my bad in not being clear, I agree the music is better, I was referring to the MSX being the first with a tune rather than an annoying loop.
Owen Fitzgerald The music on the Sharp X68000 is from New Rally X. In fact, the whole thing looks like it's based more on New Rally X in general.
It's uncanny how much Turbo looks like the character in the arcade flyer for this game.
If only this guy would make "let's compare: New Rally X
Jace Kim why tho
because I like new rally x better.
Thank you for posting the video!
Thanks for the heads-up on the Windows remake

Gaming History Source No, you should select a japanese msx machine in settings ...
I remember playing a clone of this on the Vic-20 called Radar Rat Race. You where a mouse and chased by cats as you where looking for cheese instead of flags if my memory is correct.
There was a Commodore 64 version too.
The plug and play version I know wasn’t here and it has the best audio
The sharp x68000 theme has one annoying off tune note which annoys me 14:21
What I'm actually more familiar with is a knockoff for the C64 called "Radar Rat Race", in which the characters were rodents and "Three Blind Mice" was the music.
I'm not sure if it was midway's doing when importing the game from namco but I know I hear the bang the original arcade game
The GBA Version's "BANG!" sfx sounds like it's from Super Mario Land.
I heard in Korea this game is nicknamed as "the farty car" 😀
luisedgarf lmao
Hahaha! They are referencing me!
Pblsh-hahahahaha! Korea and fart jokes!
I still don't know version I played on a plug and play. It seemed faster paced than all of these
New Rally X?
I played with those plug and play consoles too! Yes, that is the New Rally-X Arcade version you played.
you can do a lets compre Ghostbusters
In the fast-food where have this machine in my country, we called this game of Carrinho Peidão (Farting Little Car)^^

Why are all MSX games at this channel played in slow motion? This is way slower than the real machine.
The emulated MSX machine is actually setted to 50Hz mode (PAL region).
Strange that there was no NES/Famicom port of this.
I know right ? Would have been the perfect console for it.
@@GamingHistorySource Yes
@@GamingHistorySource But there are 2 Clones in the NES
no atari ports either
(before you @ me, the 2600 version is a home brew, therefore it's not licensed)
