Its 2015 and Nintendo fans still love this game. Wow!

Now this is the perfect ending to a perfect game! There is no question, if you don't like this game in the slightest, you have no soul. The end credit music is so beautiful i wanna cry with joy!

This was amazing, the visual depiction at the end was amazing in the sense that, it reminds me of what the universe perhaps really works like. A black hole of such, "the big crunch" where all matter gets compressed into a spec of dense materials before, blowing up and expanding into a universe once more although never the same. (big bang) I liked how this cutscene showed it in it's own way :)
Is it just me or does Bowser Jr.'s size seem larger than usual in this game.
Yeah a giga bowser would have been awesome.

I love how Mario can kick thousands of monsters' asses and the big bad Koopa King all while staying quiet the entire time. :)

To me, Bowser is a SEMI-Genius. Sure, he can plan evil plots for world conquest. But he's failed miserably every time. It just goes to show... if you can be beaten by an Italian Mustach'iod plumber DOZENS OF TIMES, maybe world conquest isn't you.

The image with a eyes connection between Mario and a baby-star(about 06:37) always make me cry.

The Paper Mario series makes a nice joke out of this by having all other characters except for Mario talk, and have Mario use a wave of his hand and a fake voice sound when he is talking,
I know, but come on that's too boring. It would be exciting to have Mario talk in his games. I heard Sony is working with Nintendo to make a Mario movie, if they do that they half to make Charles Martinet record full lines and make Mario talk. They can't have him silent for the entire movie
Mario games do indeed need a voice. I think that would be more interesting that just reading speech bubbles. Another thing that Mario needs is a storyline other than saving the princess. What Sonic needs is higher quality gameplay. I mean, most Sonic games are good but none of them appealed to me as much as the recent Mario games.

Apparently Bowser's Galaxy collapses in on itself because the Grand Star was recovered from the reactor. After the collapse it becomes a supermassive black hole that threatens to destroy the entire universe... Fortunately the Luma take this moment to stop the black hole and instead create another Big Bang of some sorts which ends up in the creation of the new galaxy...
Whether Wii kid or you grew up of any Nintendo system and are a devout Mario fan, in 10 years, who's gonna have more fond memories of Super Mario Galaxy than Super Mario Galaxy 2?

He got knocked into a black hole at the end of Galaxy 2. He'll obviously be back no matter what happens to him. He's the villain of this series. Nintendo wouldn't be stupid enough to kill him off permanently.
i would say its actually displaying the collision of 2 galaxies, old stars die and new ones are born
@purplecowadoom Trapped in an alternate dimension where Bowser and his minions are good, Mario and Co. are evil, and Real Mario and Co. are fugitives, Mario would have to hunt down all the Ztars (the black opposites of stars) and destroy them all in a single spot in order to open the way home. Now doesn't that sound infinitely more epic? And the saddest part is that it only took me half a minute to come up with all that.

Nintendo has done great with Vocals in there games lately, like this, Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess, etc.
i had fun with this boss fight. i was so sad when all the lumas sacrificed themselves. they were my favorites. :(. but still a really fun game.
lol at the end rosalina says "i will be watching you from the stars.", but later she turns out to be a racing character in mario kart wii! lol

After you get all 120 stars with both Mario and Luigi, return to the final battle as Luigi. Beat Bowser and watch the whole credit role again, including the final scene when Rosaline leaves the Gateway Galaxy and the Luma stays behind. After the screen goes black, a notice will appear on the screen stating that you have unlocked the Grand Finale Galaxy. The Grand Finale Galaxy is located where the Trial Galaxy Lumas took you to the Trial Galaxies. The luma is on the backside of the planet.
This is perhaps the most epic Bowser fight in Mario history!

I find it a lot more epic if you don't die on a final boss, so they put a bunch of coins so it didn't lose it's epicness and it could still be easy. If you don't know what to do though, it can be hard. My friend (Who is actually pretty good at games) tried like 5 times to figure out what to do on the fight, cause' for once it was all new. That's what I love about this fight, it's not pointed out to you what to do and it's different than all the other fights.

All the black holes in the universe suddenly become one giant hole (after sucking up EVERYTHING!) and it all collapses under its own weight and explodes, thus creating a big bang and a totally new world to live in! It keeps getting recycled! :)
12:55 is the best part. Made me kind of want to cry.
I completely agree that the first was better. The only thing 2 had over 1 was that it had Yoshi and one of the levels from Super Mario 64 (the game that i think inspired this game), and 2 was pretty much the same thing except you had to go in a certain order! and once you beat the game, Luigi is immediately unlocked. No special challenge to unlocking him AT ALL.

I find sonic colours to be another attempt at matching mario. It has a similar plot devices as well as a similar ending. The wisps are like the luma's and they both give the main character special powers. Also when the villain plan of galactic domination backfire's their own creation become a space with an enomous amount of gravity. And the space creatures end up joining together to stop it.
and while I was watching mario watch the toads celebating, I saw the Cheep-Cheeps jumping out of the water (No, not the orca's, the red fishy things) and thought to myself, "Mario probably shouldn't go in there." XD
Even though the Mario series isn't known for its stories. Super Mario Galaxy had the best I think. I was disappointed that the sequel and 3D land didn't have more storyline.
If you ever play Mario Sunshine, Bowser addresses Princess Peach as his "Momma."

@olmnut actually, at the end, where ur with bowser and the koopas are at the mushroom kingdom, you see him playing with 2 koopas on an airship in the lake
Nintendo really bombed the ending to this, as usual, and I came up with a completely different ending that would have seamlessly lead into a truly epic sequel, versus the crap that is Galaxy 2. How it would've worked is that when Bowser's Planet/Galaxy thingie turned into a black hole, instead of the Lumas coming to the rescue and neutralizing it, all they would manage to do would be to aid Mario and Co. in being safely transported to the other side of it.
Oh dear.. I don't somehow think im going to be able to compleate this game anymore!

Hm, this ending seems to be surprisingly similar to the end of the last series of Doctor Who. I'd never noticed that. Someone flies into the end of the Universe, recreating the Big Bang and resetting the Universe? That is some good thinking from both sides.
