This is without a doubt the most threatening Bowser has ever been in a Mario game. -He attacked Roselina’s observatory and stole all the grand stars -He assaulted the Mushroom Kingdom with armies of airships -He literally took Peach’s castle to space along with her -He send Kamek out to nearly killed Mario -And nearly took over the entire Galaxy that ended up causing a black hole that kills nearly everyone. Odyssey Bowser, Paper Mario 64 Bowser, and Galaxy 2 Bowser are nothing compared to this Edit: Welp Bowser’s Fury now holds that title.
There’s also the Mario and Luigi games, we’re bowser had some pretty evil moments. Especially in dream team, where he gets the dream stone, inhales the shards, and becomes a god like being.
In Galaxy he wants to rule the universe. In Bowser’s Fury he doesn’t want that, he doesn’t want conquest over the mushroom kingdom, he doesn’t even want Peach. He’s just wants Mario dead.
Bowser's fury doens't hold that title becease bowser "wasn't himself when he was pissed off in that game" he was corrupted by the black goop. (It's a simular situation to black paint bowser from colour splash where he was also corrupted but accidentally, it was never his intensions to become this) So galaxy is still the best bowser has ever been.
This is by far the most gritty Mario game I’ve ever played lol. I mean, Bowser tries to take over the universe with his Galactic Empire, a supermassive black hole almost consumes the entire universe, and then all the Lumas sacrifice themselves to save it! Also, on a random note, the string instruments in this game are GOD-LIKE!!! This is also my favorite Bowser final boss. And this is still the greatest 3D platformer of all time in 2024

and in the end, you get to listen to one of the most beautiful versions of gusty garden, which can make you imagine you were on that journey for years, and you have an emotional slideshow of the great times during your adventure.

The whole cut scene with the black hole and the Lumas symbolizes the reset of the galaxy after the 2000 years according to things on the internet. Every 2000 years in the mario universe the universe resets and only certain individuals remember. In this case peach, mario, bowser, rosalina, and some toads
if only odyssey has the atmosphere of this game along with that beautiful animation. dont get me wrong odyssey is absolutely amazing, but i just get do it. even with all the colors, all the new stuff, all the animation, the better visuals, this still gives me chills, its just, like the grand podium of mario. also that odyssey ending tho? am'i right? kinda off.
I heavily prefer the gameplay of Odyssey more (especially the super long jump) but I feel like Galaxy is much grittier, and it overall feels more “epic” if that makes sense. And the music for Galaxy is AMAZING
The 120 stars ending cutscene had me in tears about a couple years ago, in part because of the music. When I first heard the music alone, I actually cried! Sometimes Mario games in this era have music that just makes you cry sometimes.

Supermassive black holes aren’t formed by ordinary stars, but rather by hyper giants, stars of once-pure hydrogen from the earliest moments of the universe. In fact, these stars were so massive, it was believed some could be formed from black holes at the very center from the earliest moments of the universe, and that the stars are being “held up” from the fusion in its outer layers. It slowly turns from Hydrogen to Iron and metallic stone, then it can no longer produce the energy to resist falling into the black hole. They would be incomprehensibly huge, but if it’s powered by a black hole already, it can be small. While this isn’t what the game has in mind (this is a recent theory) it fits surprisingly well here

If you're still confused about the singularity, it's the center of the black hole.
Jacob Van, I’m not really sure what it is, but there is a possibility one side of the hourglass-like shape could represent the lumas and the other side representing the black hole trying to destroy everything. It’s like a fight for control at that point. If the black hole wins, everything is destroyed. If the lumas win, the galaxy/universe is reborn.

The physics are personally much better in Odyssey but the music, atmosphere, and story for this game surpasses Odyssey’s. Both are amazing, though and are around the same in quality
SMG is the first and only video game to have ever made me cry 😭 When Mario's companion throughout the story, Baby Luma says his goodbye before sacrificing himself then the sad song started playing THEN noticing all the other Luma's sacrificing themselves.. I was in tears. And when that scene at 7:19 hit where you can hear all the Luma's screaming before they died is when I lost it 😭😭😭
strange mysteries surrounding the final bowser fight: at 1:00 , theres a track that plays when bowser talks that cant be found in the official soundtrack and other youtube uploads of the mario galaxy OST. also at 3:38 , there seems to be a meow sound effect that plays the first time mario takes his final swing at bowser. i’m not entirely sure if it’s a meow sound effect but it sure sounds like it lol.
I personally think that this is the most serious Bowser has ever been before Bowser's Fury. He's doesn't want Peach to make him a cake, he doesn't want to build an amusement park, he only wants 2 things. Conquer the entire Galaxy and Mario's Head.
I'm struggling to figure out how I had so much trouble on the Dark Matter Plant battle, then proceeded to beat this first try. The music for the Galaxy Reactor level was spot on though, love this game too much!
14 long years ago, I played this for the first time. This ending confused me so mucj because how would a 3 year old understand what im about to say? But now I finally understand. The black hole sucking up the entire universe and spitting out a new one was obvious, but I just figured out that Rosalina grabbed the new Mario and explained that this isnt the first time its happened and he's part of a continuous cycle of universes that keeps dying and being reborn. She also says that it never repeats itself in the same way, which explains the new galaxies in Galaxy 2 and how Bowser keeps mindlessly kidnapping Peach and her constantly calling for Mario to help. Everyone has the same basic role every time the universe is reborn, but no one fulfills it the same way. Bowser kidnaps Peach every time, but he either creates pocket dimensions for the power stars (Super Mario 64), sends his son to do it for him (Super Mario Sunshine), usurps the entire universe and its source of power (Super Mario Galaxy), or just straight up tries to marry her (Super Mario Odyssey), all in order to do his constant goal of stopping Mario from getting her back. He fails, though, every time, because he is destined to do so. That is his role in the constant cycle of birth and rebirth. Shigeru Miyamoto, if you dont make this game into a movie, I swear to god, you are failing your purpose in life.
Are we just gonna talk about how in the ending almost everyone died off screen? Luigi and the toads were on the observatory that got sucked in the black hole, (even if not completely they Certainly died) bowser was on the planet that caused the black hole bowser jr was on the airships that were shredded and peach might also been sucked in. Goddamm. And even if Luigi and the toads WERE still alive considering Mario was also really close to the black hole and still survived bowser was dead. I mean it's not the first time he dies ( *cough* New Super Mario Bros DS) That's still kinda brutal.

Basically, the Lumas start fighting the singularity of the black hole, which is an infinitely dense point, in an attempt to neutralize/destroy the black hole.
If you're still confused about the singularity, it's the center of the black hole.

Jacob Van, I’m not really sure what it is, but there is a possibility one side of the hourglass-like shape could represent the lumas and the other side representing the black hole trying to destroy everything. It’s like a fight for control at that point. If the black hole wins, everything is destroyed. If the lumas win, the galaxy/universe is reborn.

The physics are personally much better in Odyssey but the music, atmosphere, and story for this game surpasses Odyssey’s. Both are amazing, though and are around the same in quality

SMG is the first and only video game to have ever made me cry 😭 When Mario's companion throughout the story, Baby Luma says his goodbye before sacrificing himself then the sad song started playing THEN noticing all the other Luma's sacrificing themselves.. I was in tears. And when that scene at 7:19 hit where you can hear all the Luma's screaming before they died is when I lost it 😭😭😭

strange mysteries surrounding the final bowser fight:
at 1:00 , theres a track that plays when bowser talks that cant be found in the official soundtrack and other youtube uploads of the mario galaxy OST.
also at 3:38 , there seems to be a meow sound effect that plays the first time mario takes his final swing at bowser. i’m not entirely sure if it’s a meow sound effect but it sure sounds like it lol.

14 long years ago, I played this for the first time. This ending confused me so mucj because how would a 3 year old understand what im about to say?
But now I finally understand. The black hole sucking up the entire universe and spitting out a new one was obvious, but I just figured out that Rosalina grabbed the new Mario and explained that this isnt the first time its happened and he's part of a continuous cycle of universes that keeps dying and being reborn. She also says that it never repeats itself in the same way, which explains the new galaxies in Galaxy 2 and how Bowser keeps mindlessly kidnapping Peach and her constantly calling for Mario to help.
Everyone has the same basic role every time the universe is reborn, but no one fulfills it the same way. Bowser kidnaps Peach every time, but he either creates pocket dimensions for the power stars (Super Mario 64), sends his son to do it for him (Super Mario Sunshine), usurps the entire universe and its source of power (Super Mario Galaxy), or just straight up tries to marry her (Super Mario Odyssey), all in order to do his constant goal of stopping Mario from getting her back. He fails, though, every time, because he is destined to do so. That is his role in the constant cycle of birth and rebirth.
Shigeru Miyamoto, if you dont make this game into a movie, I swear to god, you are failing your purpose in life.
Think about it, Bowser nearly ended the entire universe just to be with Peach, that’s dark even by Mario standards

Luigi and the toads were on the observatory that got sucked in the black hole, (even if not completely they Certainly died) bowser was on the planet that caused the black hole bowser jr was on the airships that were shredded and peach might also been sucked in. Goddamm. And even if Luigi and the toads WERE still alive considering Mario was also really close to the black hole and still survived bowser was dead. I mean it's not the first time he dies ( *cough* New Super Mario Bros DS)
That's still kinda brutal.
