I'm 71, retired & am happier than I've ever been. I don't have to wake up to an alarm clock, I don't have to dress "appropriately" - in fact many days I stay in my jammies 😊just because I can, I don't have to put up with bosses, co-workers and I could go on. I have a few more aches & pains, take more pills (including vitamins & nutritionals) and all the other things that go along with aging (now, what was I doing??). But I would not trade being 71 for anything. This is the best time of my life!
I have found that if I'm not well hydrated, my creapy skin areas are more pronounced. What a difference drinking water all day has made to the appearance of these areas.
I’m a nurse and when my older patients complain about getting old, I always think it’s a blessing to grow old xx thank you for your videos, informative and enjoyable 😊
True! I’m old and I’ve lost so many loved ones. It is a blessing to grow old in good health. But it’s NOT a blessing to outlive all your friends and family.
I used to have esthetic treatments every three months without fail. I have major sun damage and many cancer removals. Botox and fillers, plus lots of electrical treatments. Since COVID, I have had no treatments at all, plus I have lost 30 lbs. My face is so wrinkly, and my everywhere is crepey. I am 73, and I just don’t care anymore. My husband says he can’t tell the difference. I always wear a mask. My friends love me the way I am. So now all the money I will save on my face will go toward my teeth. Yuck. I also dislike fragrance in anything and don’t see the reason for them.
My maternal grandmother lived to 97 she was exactly 1 month short of turning 98. My aunt her daughter was 98 when she past. My mom other daughter is 98 will be 99 in Oct. Not very many health problems. Grandma didn't either. Aunt was not real healthy. And yes we are VERY blessed to still have our mom
I use The Ordinary 1% retinol as my body oil a few times a week (it's in a jojoba + squalane base, perfect for body skin). It's super cheep, so I just buy 3 or 4 at once and pour them all into a bigger bottle. Paula's Choice also has a nice retinol body lotion but I personally prefer that Ordinary hack. Same with their Glycolic toner - huge bottle, works great on the body.
I do the same thing with the retinol and the glycolic. Also use the aha/bha peel on my feet, it works well. The Ordinary is a bit more expensive in Australia, but still the cheaper alternative. I found my toddlers body wash is gentle and not stripping too!!
@@capturelife101 yes the Ordinary glycolic toner is intense. The REAL deal for results. I use it for a treatment that gets rinsed off after 10 minutes. Then I apply a moisturizer.
I officially love this channel. You two are most informative but it's your attitudes about skin care and aging that I find most impressive. I'm glad I found you guys. I appreciate you!
FYI - Always check the medical credentials of doctors. Affiliations with “unbanked “ institutions like Campbell University should be fully understood. Anecdotal experience is helpful, but not all “Doctors” are equally qualified.
I am in my late 50s and have a lot of sun damage on my arms and legs. For about a year and a half I have use the CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser on my arms and legs and it has made a huge difference in the overall health of my skin.
I LOVE CeraVe products. my skin used to be so dry and rough. The moisturizing cream that comes in the big jar is AWESOME,it totally changed my body skin so much that I started using it on my face(:
Possibly addressing hormone changes particularly in women and possible hormone supplementation and how that will help skin support during the menopause years.
I just buy a 1000ml bottles of CeraVe cleansers and use it both for face and body, same with their moisturizing cream. Buying good basic cleanser and moisturizer helps to focus the money and time on better serums and treatments
I drink a glass of water if I notice my hands/arms looking drier than typical. I also up my electrolyte intake. I was hoping your video would address the 'crepiness' that occurs with weight loss while your body adjusts to the physical changes. Perhaps in another video sometime? Thank you for your advice and helpfulness. Keep up the good work! Namaste. 🙏
Back in the 80's when I was a teenager, I had a dermatologist tell me to get a tan and buy a tanning lamp!!! I had gone to see him after a skin reaction to chemicals used in a hot tub. That was the worst advice I've gotten from a Dr! (he's still practicing too!) I wish we had the info back then that we have now about sun damage. Been working on reversing my 30 years of sun damage best I can. Always enjoy your videos and find them helpful
Woah really. I know they might not understand the risks but what benefits are there that would make them recommend that? I’d have thought that any benefits from tanning would’ve just been from the sun and not a tanning lamp.
I was diagnosed with a sun allergy in the 70's by the derm who pioneered the correlation between sun exposure and skin cancer. I've taken a bath in sunscreen everyday for 50+ years
Me too. The tanning beds and booths came out in the 80s and I faked and baked until I was 40 and sunbathed. Im now trying to repair all that damage (Im 52). Cant believe a dr told you that although I used to manage a tanning salon years ago and women would come in left and right saying their derm/dr told them to come tan to help with their eczema. SMH.
One thing that I have noticed, I am 62 today is using Cerave my forearms the inside look pretty nice and I have noticed that older women that is where the crepey skin shows up first. Sun screen is amazing however, I understand we block the sun Vit D when we use it. I really like Cerave I don't know why I don't use it on my face. I have a ton of stuff I use on my face and I think I am losing the battle. But I am grateful to be on this planet breathing I have lost too many people to death from 20-45 so it is a blessing to grow old.
Aging is a privilege that I wish a lot of people I love got to experience. With time passing, every wrinkle tells a story. The one between the eyebrows are my WTF lines, and they are DEEP. 😆
Yup. I have a deep wrinkle between my eyes from squinting all the time bc of astigmatism. I also have resting bitch face, so I constantly look mad & get asked 100x a day if I’m mad &/or told to smile.
you guys FINALLY helped me figure out what dozens of dermatologists couldn't, sabaceous hyperplasia! since then I've been using salicylic acid cleanser and a light moisturizer with salicylic acid as well as warm steaming my face once a week and in 2 weeks there is a huge difference! almost my skin of 15 years ago! some days better than other seems to be affected by sleep and water intake too but sooooo much better ! Thank you!
I have sebaceous hyperplasia & it has caused me extreme stress. I was put on Accutane at 69. It caused a retinal detachment which was almost torture, compared to my late stage cancer. Restasis was the cause. It’s cyclosporine, a medication for transplant patients. Salicylic acid & Tazorac. Are my go-tos & has helped tremendously.
It is so true!! All you young people out there, listen when they say protect using sunscreen and cover up, if you want to look young when you are old. I live in Florida and it's really hot. I worked outdoors for 20 + years. I would sweat the sunscreen off in minutes, so I wouldn't be as protected. I also would wear tank tops and shorts, because otherwise, I would've died of heat stroke. I'm 46, and the difference between my skin that was protected and not is like night and day. You don't notice when you are young, because you don't see the changes until you are older. My arms and chest especially are tan, but also tons of freckles, sunspots, crepy skin, whereas my stomach, back, and buttocks are white, but completely healthy feeling and looking. Young people think, "Well a tan matters now while I'm young", but you WILL regret it when you are older, and there's nothing you can do about it. Everything you do to your body, sun, drugs, alcohol, and food DOES affect you when you get older. Just because you can't see it now, doesn't change the fact the damage is being done.
I worked critical care and ER for decades. Had to resign about 4 years ago for medical reasons. And you are right on about the need for sunscreen. Face, décolletage, and ARMS/HANDS! Nothing shows age like hands. I have very dry hands and constantly lotion up. I stick with Cerave, Neutrogena, and Cetaphil exclusively. I use the face cleansers for body care. Neutrogena extra dry for skin is great! People need to cut the daily bathing rituals which dries out skin. Change to every 2 to 3 days for full body cleansing and just wash the moist areas daily. Exfoliate weekly definitely. Full body exfoliation really helps those great moisturizing agents like niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, ceramides. La Roche has a great hand product.
LOVE you guys! I worked in Dermatology for 20 years. I was blessed to get free treatments & products. I am a licensed esthetician. I am retired now and not getting the 'perks' of products & procedures that I once did. At 63 yrs. old, spots are showing up as well as age related crepey skin. Thank you so much for all of your great Derm. advice. The Dr. that I had worked for has retired. You guys are awesome! Keep on keepin on! xo from California. xo
For those of you that are elderly and have very little money...I went to the baking section at the grocery store and bought extra virgin coconut oil, it is white and has a thick consistency...my skin was so dry that it hurt, and applying this saved me. I don't use it everyday but once a week. It was such a relief!
Thanks so much for covering this topic. Please recommend drugstore priced products. Many of people affected by this condition are retired and may be on a budget. Thanks so much!
OMG at 115.00 before taxes and shipping I wish you guys would try to suggest some products that are as comparable as possible for us working class people who WANT to take care of our skin but find it cost prohibitive.
It seems to me that they are making money out of these products and it looks like an advertisement and getting a commission. Very upsetting, I don’t like them anymore. There are many products out there, that are as good and not expensive at all. This commercial type of information should stop!!! Shame on you!!!! Terrible and unethical. Now, I don’t trust you with any of your recommendations.
I have the same issue, there is a neutrogena body oil that’s cheaper and cerave and lipkar are good alternatives. I find them at Walgreens and they often have sales
At age 33 I had my first surgery for skin cancer. It started with malignant Melanoma, and for the 45 years since I’ve had more surgeries than I can even remember. I’ve had surgeries on every part of my body except for my head and feet. Last year when my last biopsy came back with a diagnosis of cancer, I asked to use a chemo cream which I had used a few years before and the doctor prescribed it. After I’d used it for about ten days I asked if I could put it on my hands and was given the ok to do that, so I thought to myself if I can put it on my hands why not put it on my arms, so I did. No way to stress what a bad decision that was, after a couple of days I started to have an allergic reaction to the cream, my face swelled up to the point that one eye was swollen shut and I could barely see out of the other one as it would just open a slit, I probably had 600 red spots on the top of my arms and hands. The itch was non stop, called the doctor, he prescribed a “calming” cream, within 24 hours I was having my second allergic reaction, this time on my legs and the underside of my arms, and I felt like I was starting to go into anaphylactic shock. Friend finally insisted on taking me to an ER, the doctor there confirmed that I was having a second allergic reaction, she gave me an injection of cortisone which helped with the itching and a prescription of antibiotics. I have never in my life had a tan, I never just naturally gotten one shade darker even, but what I did have were blustering sunburns, when we went to visit my grandparents I played in the creek next to their home and although I cried myself to sleep because of the pain, I went right back the next day and played in the creek There were no sunscreens way back then, and there were no ointments that would take the pain away. So the reason for this long post is to tell y’all that damage to your skin may not rear its ugly head for 20+ years, but believe me, pale skin is much preferred over two scars on my cheek and a dime sized hole in my nose, plus several scars on my back, the largest being the one from surgery to remove melanoma. Maybe you won’t get skin cancer, but if I had it to do over I’d try to live like getting skin cancer was a possibility. My Dad died from skin cancer, and lots of other people have too. Just be careful.
I feel for you I had melanoma stage 4 had two surgeries I refused chemo and radiation did not want to compromise my immune system, lived most of my life in Florida playing tennis, waterskiing taking the kids to the beach never used sunscreen was not even aware of it I used baby oil, twenty years later I paid the price.
Thank you so much for sharing and I am so sorry for all youve had to endure dealing with skin cancer! YesYesYes, everyone PLEASE use sunscreen and if your going to be outdoors put on a hat or visor. There are so many great self tanners these days if you want a dang tan! And please stay out of the tanning booths! Melanoma grows 100 times faster in a tanning bed-its just not worth the risk!
So very sad that you have had to go through so many consequences of a childhood without the warning of sunburns....thank you for Sharing what you've endured and hopefully it will encourage so many others to really Use sunscreen on their bodies....sending you healing energy and prayers for your peace
Just curious if you get tested for your vitamin D levels" Do you supplement with D and K2-7? I stayed out of the sun for ten years and started having health issues. Lucky for me I came upon a health book talking about Vitamin D deficiencies and all the health problems it caused. I asked a doctor to give me D test and it came back severely deficient at level 6ng. I refused the thyroid and blood pressure meds they offered and just concentrated on cleaning up my diet..no sugar or vegetable oils that cause oxidation and free radicals. And I got my D level up to 75ng. I am 70 now and my skin is great and I do not wear sunscreen. I do my best to stay away from as many chemicals in my environment as possible. When I get home after being somewhere in the summer I take some vitamin C and drink some pure water. do think everyone should be aware of their skin and any changes happening on it. And getting sunburned is definitely not good.
Thank you so much for covering this subject. I’m 59 & aging gracefully but recently looked at my legs & was mortified when I saw what looked like crepe paper. I’ve always moisturized & I drink 1 gal of water daily so I was surprised. I truly thought the dehydration I suffer due to diabetes was the cause & it could very well be. I started applying Vaseline to my legs, feet, & arms before I go to sleep. While it has helped my skin look more supple I knew I was missing something. Growing up my mother taught me early on to take care of my face with cleansing products, moisturizer & eye cream/gel but body care products were really not thought about in regard to treating all skin & protecting like we do the face. I am happy to know about these products & will incorporate them asap to resolve the crepe skin I’ve developed. Love you guys & the education you provide. ❤
My stomach hurts from the belly laughs. From Dr. Maxfield staring off into space to the body oil bit y’all had me wheezing. All good points about body care. I do a lot of running and yard work and last year finally started consistently using sunscreen. Better late than never.
So, since you’re sponsored by Necessaire, it kinda-sorta makes your endorsement biased. I always put crepey skin products that are made for the neck on the backs of my hands. Love you two! So adorable and happy-making. ❤️
You guys make me feel so much better about getting older. Especially since your men and you have pretty much said you think wrinkles are attractive. Men are much more reasonable about the aging process than women I have realized through talking with different men. They except us we just don’t except ourselves. Us women that is
i would love to see a discussion about the toxicity of sunscreens as this has long been a point of contention with me about using them...weighing out the benefit of chemical sunscreens vs the toxic harm of using them....
Amen. I think aging poorly comes from what we put in our mouth and on our skin. I usually use an spf if I bought the wrong skin care product or intentionally if I plan to be in the sun for an extended period and have not kept up my base tan. But I eat better than most seniors and rarely have a cocktail. I don't look like a movie star, but my skin is nice - and I'm barely claiming my mid 60s.
Wish you guys might’ve addressed weight loss as a potential source and how to deal with skin after weight loss and what is normal to expect. As an infant, I was malnourished and then gained quickly with proper care, causing stretch marks that I have always had around my shoulders, backs of my arms, butt and upper thigh. I just recently lost weight (slowly over a year) and have noticed that those are the only areas that are really a problem, although retinols are helping.
I always wonder about that. If it can be prevented (to an extense) if the weight is lost slowly or if using skin care products to prevents those effects before loosing the weight would have a positive impact. Anyway I envy you, I have a few pounds to loose myself 😮💨.
I am not a derm, but I have been (to my very great surprise) getting tremendous help from a newer product that Gold Bond has put out that is a full body retinol/age renewing cream. It's helped a lot with stretch marks on my hips, crepiness on my arms, hyperpigmentation on my upper chest, and even with some keratosis pilaris on the back of my thighs. It's dirt cheap too, and absolutely worth giving it a try. FYI I originally only bought it for the crepey skin.
Apparently our favorite dermatologists have picked an expensive cream for our bodies. Forgiven. I'll go to the local drugstore and check out Vichy Pochay, Cereavae or Bioderma I'm know I'll find the right body cream.💗 I'm I'm 71 as well. Have always tried taking care of my skin, but these guys have put me in a habit of taking far better care of my skin. I saw my dermatologist today, she's impressed with my skin, lack of sun spots and super positive about the products I use. So from the bottom of my heart thanx bunches. 💕
Thanks for being real about crepey skin. At 74 it’s too late for me. I have my grandmother’s arms. But now I will be wise about products. I just started thinking I should do something about it. I won’t be wasting any money on expensive products. But I may start to exfoliate.
I started taking a scoop of collagen protein in my morning tea for joint health and surprisingly after 3-4 months I noticed it really helped with the appearance of the skin on my legs and arms (I’m 56).
I also take a scoop of collagen in liquid in the am I find it disgusting, tastes like the dust of bones It hides nicely in the last small amount of coffee however ( juice offered no disguise) Warm coffee dissolves it well also use only a swallow or two of coffee My crepey skin is somewhat improved I will continue the dosing
I bought Necessaire as a gift to myself last Christmas and I only need very little. It spread very nicely and leave it on my skin for at least 3 mins. Awsome product!
There is an amazing body wash from Olay with retinol. Texture is good, smells is good and results are amazing! Changed my foot skin and price point is a joke. Just by it!
Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm 74 and literally never used sunscreen until I was probably 25 yrs old! It just wasn't a thing we were aware of. Even when I did, it was only on those scorching days at the beach (and I live in MN so not so many of those!). It's extremely difficult to combat 30-50 years of non-skin care so I do appreciate whatever info I can get now. I love that younger people have this information.
I use Alpha 12% Renewal body cream. Then mix ahead of time in a larger dark bottle with dropper, my oils, jojoba, rose geranium, rose hip frankincense, and almond. I put the cream on my palm and add oils. It’s amazing I also dry brush my body!!
I am still sold on TCA 20% peel for reversal of really creepy skin on the chest and arms. I wish I had taken the before and after but I only have a during-the-peel photo. It's been like a miracle. I have also been using Medix 5.5 Retinol Cream, Targets Crepey Wrinkles and Sun Damaged Skin. It is soooooooooooo nice smelling.
Firs off- you guys are amazing! To have your professional opinions brings great peace of mind when choosing effective products. What’s even more fantastic, is that you make it a point to bring budget friendly options to the table. So a big thank you to you both for taking the time to share your wisdom with the public! After watching this video, I realized that there’s no mention of argon oil. Is that not an effective source for moisturizing/conditioning the skin?
The best stuff for Keratosis Polaris is 12% ammonium lactate lotion ( I get it off Amazon) or benzoyl peroxide. Retinoids are great but too expensive. Ammonium lactate works on butt and face acne, I like a workhorse product.
I watched one of your other videos last week where you suggested use of a body retinol. I went to Target and placed my order. It arrives today. I'm new to retinol because in the past my skin was too sensitive to it. Now that I've arrived at my 50s, I'm able to use them by your suggestion of the moisturizer sandwich method. Only still using retinol every 3 days while I get used to it. Thank you for the advice. You two are wonderful.
Which body retinol did you get and how do you like it? In the above video Dr. Shah said he would add links for affordable body retinols, but there aren't any.
This is a great video and I appreciate you guys addressing skin care issues. I turned 61 this year and have been neglecting things that I used to do routinely since being a teenager and this (for about 6 year) may probably not been the right time to stop doing things that had kept my body tone and skin cellulite and wrinkle free. I grew up using: lave pumice stone for knees, elbows, feet, scrub brush was from top of feet to upper neck front and back, and used baby oil that change into bathing oils while body still damp thick lotions (being black ashy was not accepted). Sunscreen was not something that might have existed in the late 60s thru early 80s. Thanks for sharing and blessings to you and all in the days to come.
I’ve never tried nécessaire but looks good on Dr. Maxfield lol. Some good drugstore options are aveeno restorative skin body wash with oat aloe and b5, and eucerin lotion with urea and lactic acid 😘
I had never heard if this brand of body care! I see an esthetician and use all those types of products for the face. So glad to see things for the body now!
After spending a lot of money to repair my skin after it seemingly changed overnight, I realized I was in perimenopause. Reduced estrogen was the culprit for my crepey skin and estrogen worked WONDERS. However, now I at least feel I have a stellar, adult skin and hair routine (alcohol, perfume, dye-free and a solid sunscreen, moisturizer, retinoid and cleansing ritual). My healthy skin has returned, I stopped losing my hair, I'm sleeping much better and losing a little weight to boot. I ADORE you both. Thank you for providing consistent, science backed information in a clear, humorous and interesting way. Six months ago, I wasn't even washing my face and only used sunscreen at the beach.
@@EmeraldSpecksYes! I use estrogen patches and a vaginal suppository. Both routes get it in the body without getting it in the bloodstream like oral estrogen would. I'm also taking 300 mg of progesterone at night to help with sleep.
LOL I am 74 and I work full time in the career of my dreams for the last two years and I plan to continue. This is my dream. I earned every wrinkle I have but still take care of my skin. So thank you.
Yes more videos about body skin care! Specially some for women during and after pregnancy( no longer breastfeeding) that would be great! Keep up with the great work! You have helped me a lot and my family with so good information! Really thank you!
I'm 35 and have watched all of your videos on acne. I avoided this video, thinking it didn't apply [yet]. I learned so much about total body skin care. You're so right that prevention is key so I got a lot of great tips from this video to use before I have this problem. Thanks, keep up the good work!
Could we have a video on Hair care. Shampoos for dry, oily hair. Conditioners . And also, anything for moisturizing the hair. Maybe like HAir oil or serums

1st time watching and I have to say.....I love the information....I have so many different ones and even mix together sometimes....so now I'm to go back and read ingredients...lol .....2nd you made me feel like you REALLY CARE about my skin.....3rd....about $$ COST/value of products.... very important....4th....the REAL DEAL of aging and how cellular turn over occurs/day count of ...5th.... measures beyond products......I REALLY LIKE this speaking!!!!...I feel informed.... enlightened....smart....and encouraged all at the SAME TIME!!!!!!....Thank You!!!!!!
Would love to see a video on how certain health problems can affect the skin.for an example I have lupus and sculerderma and it would be interesting to know.
I am an ultrasound tech and I have a cosmetic ultrasound business. Application of ultrasound boosts collagen production like crazy and you can do it anywhere on the body. I always encourage my clients to also spend some time treat their hands, neck and chest when they are getting ultrasound skin treatments on their face.
I went to a derm about skin picking scars and they told me I have eczema and to stop scratching 😑 thankful for others resources out there being available from sources we can trust
Wondering if anyone else ordered these products. I ordered on 10/20/21 and got my order today 11/08/21. Hopefully everything ok because boxes were open and the body oil is just laying in there. No packing to protect anything. At the price, you would think they would be more caring of their product. Still excited to use it!!!
Hello guys, could you please talk about NAILS - how to make them harder and avoid brittling and HAIR + SCALP - what ingredients to look for for damaged / dry / oily hair? and are supplements doing something? BTW watching you is a total skin care gamechanger. Thanks to you and your will to educate us, we will all look a lot younger and healthier than we really are B-) lots of love from Slovakia ! ❤ Thank you again
Tums with calcium every day. My neighbor nails are long & strong. She has the most beautiful landscape that she cares for - her nails tolerate this because of their strength.
@@natlyfranks6856 Hello Natly, I dont know what tums is but i started with biosil (biotin, zinc, panthoten acid, silica). My nails used to be like that too! I could screw a screw with my nails :D but last year they are brittle and i dont know why. Thank you for your answer :)
I think the two best things for body skin care are sunscreen and head to toe thick moisturizer every day and night. I always heavily exfoliate my body every week. For age 40 my body skin still looks very plump and smooth. I think moisture is the key to youth ❤️
It has more to do with hormones. After menopause, the skin changes as collagen breaks down. Products over time help, for sure, but my guess is that you haven't had a big drop in hormones.
CeramedX Body Lotion, CeraVe Moisturizing Cream & Puriya's Mother of all Creams are exellent products as well for dry aging skin. The first 2 have ceramides and niacinimides. At age 71, I have battled scaling skin on my face, cracked skin on my heels, as well as keratosis on my arms and fish scales on my thighs all of which these products have cured or greatly reduced. Products that provide skin barrier effects seem to be the best. And other than the CeraVe everyday, the others I only need to use once a week - saving LOTS of money. If your dry skin is severe I would suggest starting with Puriya everyday for a couple of weeks. And of course, fix your diet & hydrate - sugar is a killer!
Would you approach the neck and decolletage area the same way as the arms and hands? I would love it if you would also review Advanced Clinicals Retinol Advanced Firming Cream. Keep up the good work. I love your channel!
I cut out seed oils (and sugar) and get lots of sun still, though early in the morning and never burning. I am 52 and my skin still looks great. What are your thoughts on diet as it relates to skin aging and how the sun affects skin? As humans, the sun is - and has been - very important to our health. I'm not convinced that slathering ourselves with chemicals and avoiding the sun is either healthy, or necessary.
You’re probably on to something there with the morning light. You’re getting vitamin d and red ultra violet light which helps stimulate adenosine triphosphate which is our molecules energy 👍
After pregnancy and breast feeding, the skin on my breasts were looking very crepey. I have been using retinol twice a week on that area and have noticed a massive difference. That and Sukin purely ageless rejuvenating day and the night cream.
Eucerin advanced repair cream or lotion is affordable and makes my skin look radiant. I have used baby oil and neutragena body oil since I was a teenager and I think all that helped but now in my 50s I need a thicker moisturizer so I have been using Eucerin and I love it. Thank you for all your great content and great sense of humor. Love you guys!!!
Oh¡ just wait until you reach your late 50’s! I became my own science project and watched my skin change over about a year! Dramatic changes in skin tone.
I tried it as well and was hoping for good results because it has urea & lactic acid but I'm not too crazy with the results. My palms still have that sandpaper feel. It's back to Amlactin which gives amazing results.
Dr Bronners Castile soap is amazing body wash and can also be used all over ( face and hair) without drying or stripping. It's an oil based soap it is the best! Then moisturize with Shea butter you will be smooth and glow.
The Murad body wash 2x/wk is amazeballs and sometimes I add the Alba volcanic lava scrub before and I get baby skin, it feels like glass and I’m 49. JasOn hemp body wash is amazing too and dry brushing really softens the skin.
Great info. I always thought you get skin like that when you lose a large amount of weight! Im middle age and hope my skin doesn’t get like that! Im always using retin a on my arms and hands. I hope that’s ok? You two are a breath of fresh air!
wow this channel has really shot up in the last couple of months. i think the last time i saw there were about 300-400k subscribers! So happy to see this channel growing!
OMG, I just went and bought every skincare product Necessaire makes. I realize this was basically just an ad for them but their products look amazing. I've been using skincare on my body for a long time and this is so much cheaper!
Water from the shower is what I wash my body with. I only use soap in the crevices :). This cured my dry skin and I'm still clean. Also ALL of my facial skincare and sunscreen always get put on my neck decollette and backs of my hands.
I use several Eucerin products for the body, including shower oil, emollient body lotion for dry skin and the sunscreen moisturizer tube with the red cap. This brand was recommended to me by my dermatologist many years ago and I have been using this line ever since. And eltamd SPF 40 for my face neck and decolletage.
I will pass this along to my mom! She's 62 and (in my opinion) far too fussy about her crepey arms, so I think she'll appreciate this. Thanks for sharing!
The best body wash i have ever used is mixing equal parts raw honey & almond oil .....very moisturizing & luxurious on the skin in the shower & skin improves quickly, wonderful to shave legs in 👍
I caught on to the cleaner issue for myself with my hands recently. I made bars of soap with goats milk, honey, oatmeal, and lavender. Just changing the soap made my hands 80% better. Love everything y’all are teaching us.
I am not even remotely conxerned with creepy skin. At 65 years of age, I have just come through 12 months of Topical Steroid Withdrawal, it was hell on earth. I am so happy to have normal, intact, pain-free, comfortable skin, for the first time in my life, creepy or not.
I’m 72 and always healthy. I was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago. I know about steroids. Mess me up. I’m trying to educate myself on good skin care. Going through radiation now then on to chemo. Noticed the crepey skin a few years ago.
Great information! I am turning 63 in October. I think watching my grandmother’s routine taught me how to care for my skin. I have used Caswell Massey cold cream body bar since I was in my 20’s. George Washington used Caswell Massey cleaning products. I use Crepe Erase products, body exfoliating, facial exfoliating, and the advanced body cream since my 40’s. The body cream makes a difference. Their facial exfoliating cleanser is good too. I’ve used Noxema cold cream cleanser on my face since my 30’s. I’m going to try your suggestions.
I like the Necessaire fragrance-easily unisex. I also tried their body serum and lotion, but they weren’t heavy duty enough for dry 50-year-old skin. I am interested in their exfoliatior. Intend to use the Exfolikate designed for the face on my arms. I’ve been waiting for the industry to come up with full-body exfoliation choices.
Same here. I wouldn’t gain the weight back., even if someone paid me, because my knees are feeling way better as is my back. Wish they would’ve addressed that issue specifically since it’s something that bothers many who have made the lifestyle change for the right reasons but feel they aren’t seeing the results as clearly as they might like.
Thank you for finally addressing this issue. I've seen so many products that say they can get rid of creepy skin - but THEY DON'T! I am starting to use retinol on my upper thighs. I'll let you know how it works.
can you guys please react and talk about Valkyrae's blue light pollution skin collection It's a skincare collection designed to protect skin from blue light pollution
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video! I thought about my days in school during massage therapy training and it was almost like a refresher type thing. Thank you for sharing this most valuable information!
I've been hearing a lot about LED light treatments and masks, but I can't help but think "light =bad for skin". Could you please do a video about LED light treatments?
Why do you think light is bad for the skin? You might be incorrectly conflating UV rays with light. Light therapy is used in dermatology offices all the time.
I’m so excited to find this information at this time in my life I am 57 and still look good but I’m needing to start working seriously on keeping things are the way they are thank you for all that you do I’m really enjoying your videos
I use a bit of petrolatum over moisturiser at night, or if I am up watching a lot of video's I put a bit of sunscreen on for blue light protection too. It helps with my dry skin during winter months.
You guys are such a gift to society. Thank you for your knowledge and passion. I enjoy the way you deliver information and your caring and positive personality. Thank you.
Great video and perfectly on point. Your process of educate first, then recommend is concise and helpful. I think our medical community is headed in the same direction because patients want to know they whys behind the diagnosis, behind the prescription, behind the recommendation. Bravo for pushing that culture forward. Let’s call it “Education First”.
Unless youre a cash payer, one is fortunate to get a doc to spend education time on patients Medicare is worse due to the reduced reimbursements and increasing regulations and paperwork gubment piles on them. Fortunate we have the internet and youtube to help many of us that take the time to find out what many medicare docs dont/wont tell us in the initial stage to prevent matters from becoming irreversibly worse.
I listen to you before and I went and bought Necessaire Shampoo and cream conditioner it's fantastic! Now I'm going to go and buy the body scrub and the body lotion!
I got some Versed body retinol cream after watching your channel, and I have been using it on my arms twice a day for 3 weeks. It has made a difference, not sure exactly what the difference is yet but it looks different, better. The arms certainly look a bit smoother and less dry. Very early days yet but I would like to fade the splotchy brown marks. A lifetime spent largely on boats and horses in the tropics. 👍🇦🇺
aveeno restorative skin body wash with oat aloe and b5, and eucerin lotion with urea and lactic acid , and you could use inkey list or the ordinary since they’re so affordable
So relaxing to read 😊
You go girl! I'm same age. Loving life. ❤️
ABSOLUTELY, my dear!! You are doubtlessly correct! This is the best life...
I could not agree more this the happiest time of my life!
70 here. Loving my life. For the 1st time I've been by myself and single for 3 years since i was 17. Finally some me time. 😂
I think getting older is such a gift...I had a full blown cardiac arrest at 34. Lucky to be here. 🙏
Me too! In 2015 at age 57. Now 64 and happy to be here. ❤
I had mine in 2017. I am 68. Now I am in heart failure, but I am happy to be alive and my age!
Check out Cardio Miracle!!!
🙏🏽🫂❤
So glad you made it! My husband passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest on the golf course.
Aging is a blessing. As a cancer survivor, I am grateful for each day.
It is and I'm glad you are still doing well.
Just really can't stand looking at myself and I need something to help.
I think it's more like it's a blessing to be able to get old. What is bkessful about being old itself?
Tell what's the alternative..
Thank you for suggesting products that are also CRUELTY FREE! No need to hurt animals to be beautiful:)
I agree 100%!
I also think cosmetic/skincare companies shouldn't have to shell out lawsuit money if people have a negative reaction to untested products.
Oh great idea!! I use the Paula’s’ choice one but keep running out! Will try the ordinary one. Thank you xx
thank u for a cheap option !!!
Is the glycolic toner also by The Ordinary? Great dups already in my cabinet. Thank you.

@Nina Dunham I am 57, same with the sum damage....we didn't have all this knowledge "back in the day"...I am going to try what you are using!
I'm going to try that.. Thank you
Does it help on the wrinkled neck?

Possibly addressing hormone changes particularly in women and possible hormone supplementation and how that will help skin support during the menopause years.
On HRT. Skin is so much better.
I just buy a 1000ml bottles of CeraVe cleansers and use it both for face and body, same with their moisturizing cream. Buying good basic cleanser and moisturizer helps to focus the money and time on better serums and treatments
Absolutely true!!
I've taken a bath in sunscreen everyday for 50+ years
In the 80’s my dermatologist told me to go out in the sun to help Keratosis Pilaris. It didn’t help and now I have a lot of sun spots and KP!
SMH.
It always cleared my acne. And that 20 minutes was the best nap ever
Who could take you guys seriously when you’re just lovingly looking at each other like you can’t get enough of each other!
😂😂😂
They are married men.
In the 1970’s my dermatologist used a sunlamp on me in his office as a treatment for my acne. Dermatology has come a long way for sure.
This is why I’m scared to get laser hair removal. What if it’s all the rage now but then in 20 years we find out it increases your risk of cancer.
🤣
My dermatologist did the same treatment for me as well in the 70s.
Me too. Sun lamp for acne
Me too! Even caused a burn one time. Mom never took me back.
lmaoo im glad you like them
I take it...The damage is done? LMAO
HOW RIGHT YOU ARE!!!
Yup. I have a deep wrinkle between my eyes from squinting all the time bc of astigmatism. I also have resting bitch face, so I constantly look mad & get asked 100x a day if I’m mad &/or told to smile.
I don’t like the lls between my eyes.. makes me look like I’m always angry or questioning someone.. although you are correct by saying WTF lines :)
you guys FINALLY helped me figure out what dozens of dermatologists couldn't, sabaceous hyperplasia! since then I've been using salicylic acid cleanser and a light moisturizer with salicylic acid as well as warm steaming my face once a week and in 2 weeks there is a huge difference! almost my skin of 15 years ago! some days better than other seems to be affected by sleep and water intake too but sooooo much better ! Thank you!
Melissa D
What brands do you use please?
This is all so true...your body never forgets how you treated it....
Keep on keepin on! xo from California. xo
Is that you as your profile picture? If so, you look like you’re in your 30s, not 60s. I’m so jealous.
Lol at 63, you look awesome in your profile pic. I hope I look that good when I'm at that age.
For those of you that are elderly and have very little money...I went to the baking section at the grocery store and bought extra virgin coconut oil, it is white and has a thick consistency...my skin was so dry that it hurt, and applying this saved me. I don't use it everyday but once a week. It was such a relief!
You could use this as often as you like. Plus it smells good!
Great idea!
I use extra virgin olive oil.
Thanks so much for covering this topic. Please recommend drugstore priced products. Many of people affected by this condition are retired and may be on a budget. Thanks so much!
Amen
OMG at 115.00 before taxes and shipping I wish you guys would try to suggest some products that are as comparable as possible for us working class people who WANT to take care of our skin but find it cost prohibitive.
Agreed!
Is that for the cleanser? And the exfoliation, is included, I hope! Maybe those products plus a moisturizer for $115.
Please tell what the active ingredients are please. I don't need or want the brand name mark-ups.
I have never in my life had a tan, I never just naturally gotten one shade darker even, but what I did have were blustering sunburns, when we went to visit my grandparents I played in the creek next to their home and
although I cried myself to sleep because of the pain, I went right back the next day and played in the creek There were no sunscreens way back then, and there were no ointments that would take the pain away.
So the reason for this long post is to tell y’all that damage to your skin may not rear its ugly head for 20+ years, but believe me, pale skin is much preferred over two scars on my cheek and a dime sized hole in my nose, plus several scars on my back, the largest being the one from surgery to
remove melanoma. Maybe you won’t get skin cancer, but if I had it to do over I’d try to live like getting skin cancer was a possibility. My Dad
died from skin cancer, and lots of other people have too.
So sorry about your cancer.

Getting old DOES NOT SUCK- it’s a privilege denied to many
Ok good then you will find something else to watch.
It's the same bs as anti vax
Wish you guys might’ve addressed weight loss as a potential source and how to deal with skin after weight loss and what is normal to expect. As an infant, I was malnourished and then gained quickly with proper care, causing stretch marks that I have always had around my shoulders, backs of my arms, butt and upper thigh. I just recently lost weight (slowly over a year) and have noticed that those are the only areas that are really a problem, although retinols are helping.
This is my problem, I lost a lot of weight and now my skin is crepey. It makes me look 20 or so more older then I am.
Yeah same for me. Gained a lot of weight and then lost it and now the skin around my boobs is so thin and crepey
Forgiven.
I'll go to the local drugstore and check out Vichy Pochay, Cereavae or Bioderma I'm know I'll find the right body cream.💗
I'm I'm 71 as well.
Thank you for sharing 😊
Same for me. It's fantastic. Also made my nails stronger and my hair nice and shiny looking.
I also take a scoop of collagen in liquid in the am
I find it disgusting, tastes like the dust of bones
It hides nicely in the last small amount of coffee however
( juice offered no disguise)
Warm coffee dissolves it well also
use only a swallow or two of coffee
My crepey skin is somewhat improved
I will continue the dosing
@Kathy Jarvis, try the Vital Proteins brand - it is the best tasting one I’ve tried 😊
I wanted to try collagen powder, but when I learned how it's made I was so disappointed. I hope a vegan option is invented very soon!

Which body retinol have you ordered & why did you choose that particular one?
Which body retinol did you get and how do you like it? In the above video Dr. Shah said he would add links for affordable body retinols, but there aren't any.
He suggested the Versed Retinol Body Lotion. Got mine from Target
Gold Bond has a retinol body lotion that is very good and much more affordable.
Eucerin is a wonder!
What kind of estrogen replacement do you use? I have the same problem.
I have also been having the same issues. It was like my skin suddenly aged overnight. Have you been on an estrogen replacement therapy?
@@gigilaroux762 I used two patches of estrogen and then a vaginal estrogen as well.
❤
Yes more videos about body skin care! Specially some for women during and after pregnancy( no longer breastfeeding) that would be great! Keep up with the great work! You have helped me a lot and my family with so good information! Really thank you!
Thanks!
I'm 35 and have watched all of your videos on acne. I avoided this video, thinking it didn't apply [yet]. I learned so much about total body skin care. You're so right that prevention is key so I got a lot of great tips from this video to use before I have this problem. Thanks, keep up the good work!
Try 30 mg zinc citrate daily for acne. Works

What about home red light therapy?

Dr. Berg has a helpful video on nutrients needed for healthy nails. And how condition of nails tell you what nutrients you lack.
Thanks, I just gave Necessaire a load of money. I am 76 and cannot wait to see some improvement to my formerly oily skin.
I think the two best things for body skin care are sunscreen and head to toe thick moisturizer every day and night. I always heavily exfoliate my body every week. For age 40 my body skin still looks very plump and smooth. I think moisture is the key to youth ❤️
True, most people don't moisturize from head to toe after bathing/showering.
As a old hippy that did little else than wash daily, sunscreen wasn’t even a thing…lots of serious sunburns…skin looked fine until after 55.
Sunscreen has poison in it not good for you look it up
It has more to do with hormones. After menopause, the skin changes as collagen breaks down. Products over time help, for sure, but my guess is that you haven't had a big drop in hormones.
And staying out of the sun and/or rather not sunbathing without sunscreen.
I started getting neck & decollete peels. It helps keep the skin tone even and be sure to use a sunscreen to the neck & decollete area as well.
@@norvaz94 hi what kind of peels? At home or professional?
I’m trying this ASAP
Skin purely ageless is amazing, I'm using it as well
Same! Crepey breast skin after pregnancy
I started using Necessaire products about a month ago. You are going to love them!
Seems too fussy until it happens to you.😢
@@hopeandjazz9535 fair enough
The best body wash i have ever used is mixing equal parts raw honey & almond oil .....very moisturizing & luxurious on the skin in the shower & skin improves quickly, wonderful to shave legs in 👍
What about Infrared light used on the body and for older women bio identical hormone replacement can help the skin as well.
Thank you two sooooooo much for talking about the body too! So true that it's hard to near impossible to find affordable retinol body products
Yeah, but are you concerned with crepey skin?
@@heatherwilson4112 🤣
Use LaRoche Posay exfoliation on your arms. I do, it works!!
I think weight loss in also an important factor in crepey skin. My inner upper arms became crepey when I lost 25 lbs.
My inner upper and lower arms. So depressing......
Thank you for finally addressing this issue. I've seen so many products that say they can get rid of creepy skin - but THEY DON'T! I am starting to use retinol on my upper thighs. I'll let you know how it works.
Do it now so you won't be shocked when you reach my mature age!!!
try mixing 1.5 tblsps demasil with finally ground vit c and use dto encourage collagen.
Beauty Pie offers a Retinol hand cream that I have just started using. I'd love if you two could look at Beauty Pie products. Love you guys!
I got the body wash and hand lotion for Christmas last year and love them!! I've added the body lotion, serum and oil to this year's wish list.
can you guys please react and talk about Valkyrae's blue light pollution skin collection
It's a skincare collection designed to protect skin from blue light pollution
"Better old than cold!" I love that!
For those who have sensitive skin but wants something gentle and foaming, I highly recommend attitude’s fragrance free body wash. Thanks to Dr. Dray.
"Aging is a blessing."
Only in the sense that we're not dead. Aging sucks!
Better old tha cold!!
Anyone come here just to look at THEM? I could listen to them all day and -Lordy -easy on the eyes.
IKR?😊
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this video! I thought about my days in school during massage therapy training and it was almost like a refresher type thing. Thank you for sharing this most valuable information!
I've been hearing a lot about LED light treatments and masks, but I can't help but think "light =bad for skin". Could you please do a video about LED light treatments?
They've done one already and it's a great watch! 😊
Why do you think light is bad for the skin? You might be incorrectly conflating UV rays with light. Light therapy is used in dermatology offices all the time.
@@emelynrobinson973 Ooh, thank you for letting me know! I'll have to go hunt it down.
Yes please!!
I just recently started using Vaseline and it really works well!
I like aquaphor.
Yes! This comment x a million. Education is necessary and empowering
I always giggle when watching your videos! They simply rock! Thanks for your precious time and expert advice! Cheers gentlemen!❤
Same here. After just a short time, my dark spots Re fading 😮
Can you recommend some drugstore options for the body as well?
Advanced clinicals Retinol body cream, is available at Walmart, affordable and fragrance free!!
aveeno restorative skin body wash with oat aloe and b5, and eucerin lotion with urea and lactic acid , and you could use inkey list or the ordinary since they’re so affordable
I love Cerave moisturizing cream, it is awesome.
