I was a volunteer fireman for over 17 years. This man responded to help his neighbors and total strangers on perhaps the worst day of their life. He was the hand that reached out to help. He would risk his own body to save someone else. Emergency responders are the best and to do it as a volunteer is heroic. On politics, we clearly didn't agree but I will stand and salute the man for what he has done and the courage he had.

@judymitchell29 Once we take into account how many rallies Trump has done as a former president (I have no idea what the number is, but I'm sure it's more public appearances than any other former president) and factor in all the random unfamiliar locations for the secret service to learn, secure, and maintain, it really is a miracle that they've kept him safe for this long. There are crazy people all over the place with all different kinds of motivations, and the number of opportunities has been astronomical. What happened was a tragedy, without question...but it was bound to happen eventually, with the way he kept going on about, "this will be our last election"...

The shooter googled both Biden and Trump appearances and the DNC. He also seemed to hold both conservative and liberal views (registered Republican but donated to a liberal group). Seems pretty clear the shooter wasn't motivated by hate but a desire for notoriety. i saw an interview with a witness who said he did a 45 minute interview that was edited into about 5 minute clip and his details of the rally were edited down from what he saw into blaming the secret service and he did not do so all he did was talk about the snipers he saw and how they took the shot that save trumps life.

they were very seriously wounded and it will be a long recovery with lots of physical therapy and such.
