This is a great tutorial, I bet a lot of people have trouble landing that delayed hit on Bald Bull while he’s stunned because it’s super difficult to time especially for beginners. But you do a great job explaining how to speedrun these guys and I think that Bald Bull can be a frustrating fight to speedrun if you get the bad luck at the start of phase 2 and if you get the good luck then he’s about medium difficulty and I easily think that King Hippo is the 2nd hardest fight for single segment speedrun because he can instantly kill a run.

I kinda don’t understand that why instead of doing delayed punches with right gut punches doing face jabs is faster since the face jab is slower than the gut punch. I just wonder why would you have to do face jabs for the delayed hit in order to get the TAS time for Great Tiger?

I know the difference in King Hippo from the TAS is that for the TAS strat for the buffer instead of doing 3 dodges to the right you do one to the right and two to the left

Great tutorial, I just kind of wonder is the delayed hit on Bald Bull frame perfect?

I believe it is two frames

@@Sinister1 ok, keep in mind that you can also raise Bald Bull’s guard to get a star off of him just like you can for Piston Honda but it’s trickier.

I once made it passed R99 in Duckhunt. The game resets to R0 along with the speed. You still need to get a perfect score in each round in order to continue.
I was so used to going full speed that I didn't even make it to R4.

I was born in '81. Second grade was first time I played at a neighbor's house and Glass Joe beat me. I borrowed the game and by 3rd grade I could get to King Hippo but couldn't figure out how to hit him. After a few days of conversation in school yard, the trick was revealed so I handily beat him. For the next few years, I worked my way up the ladder. Soda and Sandman were not too much trouble, but I could not beat Macho consistently (still can't, lol). I don't think I beat Tyson until circa 2006 (had obviously moved on to other gaming systems in interim). Anyhow, I'm playing this game on an OLED and the lag makes it 100% impossible to dodge Tyson, so I'm trying to develop a strat to consistently beat him if you are forced to guess when to dodge. The first 1:30 is easy as his pattern is the same if you never punch. I'm curious if you or anybody that reads this comment knows a full strat to beat Tyson when you have to guess on dodges.

I was able to discover a similar alternative strategy for great tiger. After throwing the first left face punch, make little mac quick dodge to the left twice without buffering though. Just use the tapping technique. And then proceed with the right gut punch (buffered) as usual. The timing should work if you don't buffer. :-D

If you delay the first quick dodge slightly, you may be able to buffer the second quick dodge though. And then buffer the right gut punch.

I just wonder if you’re going for the TAS strategy on Great Tiger when you do the late hits with face jabs instead of right gut punches do you still have to watch the shoulder to time it right?

tried to do that on an emulator with an xbox controller.. bad idea loll the emulator makes it a little harder but the xbox controller makes is complete random cuz of the circle pad you often hit 2 direction at the same time.
