I still say the best goal I ever saw was that overhead flick to volley it in. It might not be the best goal ever, but it's the best I ever saw.

Wasted talent ? Not a chance. He chose Rangers for a reason. Was one of the best players for England at Euro 96. He was a genius on the pitch. Yes it didnt work at Lazio but Rangers fans gave Gazza a welcome that blew him away and from the first game payed that back. There's only one Paul Gascoigne.

No he didnt. He had offers from clubs in England and chose Rangers because at that time they pushed the boat out to sign him like spurs did. Walter Smith had spoken to him a few yeras before and joked about signing him. So when they had the chance Rangers went and got the deal done. In the 90's Rangers had alot of money and could match the wages in England.

A wasted talent is right, all the clubs he played for, they gave the freedom to do whatever he wanted, it's no wonder he turned out the way he did, utd were looking for him in the early 90s and if he had joined them, he wouldn't have turned into the person we see today, ferguson would have made him the best player in the world just like he did with ronaldo

I've never seen a more complete or talented footballer wearing an England shirt. We wonder if his off-field problems curtailed his career, however, there's the counter-argument that it was his mental conditions that caused him to become so good in the first place. History isn't exactly short on tortured geniuses, let's face it. But for the prime of his career, there's been no Englishman close to his levels as an all-round attacking midfielder. Dribbles, free kicks, shooting, passing, creativity, the ability to raise his game when the situation demanded, will to win, ability to inspire and improve his team, and his jedi-like ability to see things before they happened, has yet to be equalled.
