I trained a few times a week with gazza waddle roeder Keegan McDermott in the mid 80,s as a very young lad they let fans join in with a game of cricket before getting down to business. The skill was unreal what I learned as a 12 year old. Some very fond memories that I'll Cherish 😎
Nice one - love these clips. When this was first broadcast, this was likely a random programme on a Tuesday night; easily ignored. Through the lens of time, it carries much more weight.
When Jack Charlton was manager and Gazza was just coming up, Jack told friend of mine "I'm going to sell him first chance I get. He will be nothing but trouble wherever he goes".
Going to London from the North tends to ruin a player in his head. The bright lights etc & player exploitation have left a messy trail. He then went to Italy & Rangers & had drink & drug excess. If he had went to Liverpool or Man United his story I feel would have been better. Gazza did have many given advice but he ignored it. That clip showing him begging for cocaine from a black dude was pitiful.
He could'nt wait to get away and left a few months later. Went to Tottenham and that turned out well....Not. The lad was a balloon just waiting to burst🎈
He was always destined to be a world renowned clown and a drunken waster who would bring ridicule to himself and the people who tried to help him. He gave absolutely nothing back to the game which made him wealthy beyond his wildest dreams. Just a waster who listened to nobody and threw away his life to alcoholism.
@Maxwell Boyne . Yeah whatever pal. Have you ever seen the photographs of him staggering about the hotel car park in his dressing gown with his genitals exposed for everyone to see, or the states he gets himself into through his own alcohol abuse, or have you wondered why his fellow ex professional footballers have nothing to do with him ? Its because he is an idiot and an embarrassment to himself and he continuously makes a complete fool of himself and never done anything to help young footballers from deprived areas and inner cities. He could have had the best medical advice and detoxification processes available but he chose to be a hopeless selfish pathetic alcoholic. You can't defend the indefenceable. Where is he now ? What is he doing to help himself ? Absolutely nothing. The man is a clown.
He's done nothing to upset the balance of you're life. To say he gave nothing back an inspired nobody is ridiculous. When in fact the opposite is true. Just look at what he gave the English team before being booked. You guy's were going nowhere until he ran riot. Sure he lived with his demons, but he's not alone. An today he's living his best life. An nobody can take that away from him. He was an still is loved up in Glasgow, an it was a gift just to see him play home an away. *Absolute Genius* 💯

Easily done when hes at the only other big club in the league.
I was at QPR. Few years later I met the ref Dennis Hedges at Pompey. I reminded him and he told me he had to go. Game finished 1-1.

I can see you have mixed feelings on the subject.
